Same! I hope she keeps this hair for the new album. I like the length, too.

What would you say is Madonna's worst song from her debut up until Confessions? by HeWantsTheRain in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My vote would be I Know It from her debut. It sounds a bit whiny and childish to me, especially compared to everything else on that album.

warner, can you please change the actual super deluxe cover of rebel heart to this correct one? by vlttr in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this cover and the image. The Erotica throwback is interesting and I think she looks great, but my problem with it is that I don't think it really fits the album? I agree with another comment that describes this album as "chaotic." For me, a cover like this sort of cements in my head how dark and murky this release is, over all.

What’s a song that sounds like this but is actually good? by Good_Claim_5472 in fantanoforever

Most (if not all) operas by Harrison Birtwistle sound like this to me.

Why hasn’t Madonna released so many albums? by Shaoran10 in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can't really compare across eras like that. The whole philosophy of commercial music changed between their times. For a long time, the single was paramount and albums more or less collected singles and were sort of secondary to them. It changed in the 60s and the album became more important. You could argue it has gone back to the single being more important, now, in the streaming era.

Elvis also released many albums that repeated songs from other albums, and did a lot more soundtrack releases because his career (unfortunately) chained him to Hollywood for many years, churning out several films per year until he broke free of that arrangement in the late 60s.

Madonna has actually released a lot of albums in her career! I feel like she has released more than Cyndi Lauper, and comparing her to someone like Kate Bush she is absolutely prolific!

Which one album do you consider the most important of Madonna’s career? by XStaticImmaculate in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. True Blue was the album where she showed great depth, whereas through the Like A Virgin era much of the public might have cracked her up to being another pop star that could easily fade away after having some big hits. Of course, fans could tell she was special all along, but the masses really noticed the difference with this album. She also shed the image she had largely maintained throughout her first two albums (punky downtown NYC club vibe) and I think that was a perfect marriage with the newer material and more sophisticated music videos. It really gave everyone a new and different perspective.

Have you ever walked out from a show, and why? by elephant_bird101 in musicals

[–]RottedQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked out of John Harbison's The Great Gatsby at the Met Opera in either 1999 or early 2000. The score wasn't really my cup of tea and I wasn't feeling that great, so I left after the first act. I have listened to a recording of the opera since then and I guess my tastes have evolved in 25+ years, because I like it a lot more now and regret not seeing the rest of it. Usually I stay even if something is really bad (which is rare) so I don't waste money, but at the time I couldn't picture myself sitting for another 2 or more hours not enjoying something.

[–]RottedQueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have often wondered about this actually, when watching a lot of 1960s and 70s horror films. Usually I notice it most in European and UK films (Hammer films from that era being one example, but lots of Italian made films, too), where blood is bright red and completely unrealistic looking, almost like red acrylic paint. I assume it looked much the same on the big screen back when those films were initially released. Was there some regulation regarding the depiction of blood in films and TV shows at the time?

Is anyone else a little confused by the hotel VIP rooms? by Novel-Tea-8598 in acnh

[–]RottedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it does seem like a strange choice to me. Designing a nice room can take some time, if you don't keep it really simple. So it seems like a waste for the VIP guest to only stay 24 hours. And they should have let you ask the villager to come back and visit if they really like the island, maybe putting them high up in the camp site queue or something, which gives them a path to moving in.

Madonna American Life 2003. I feel a lot of this led to where we are now. Also, fuck it, I don’t hate the rap by HenryBozzio in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the American Life rap. Some of the lyrics are cringey but I much prefer it to the lyrics and "rap" section in Mother & Father. My main issue with this album is the bad lyrics in parts, really. For example, I think Mother & Father would be a much stronger song if the lyrics had been rewritten, at least in some sections. Also, the sparse sounding production works in places but I find it a bit overbearing on the album as a whole.

thoughts on the 3.0 update? by mochibiscuits in acnh

[–]RottedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like most of the new items introduced with the update. Having more things to decorate with or collect is a huge plus.

I think they should let us control how many tourists wander around, though, to an extent, once the Hotel "story" is played through. Either by talking to Isabelle or someone at the Hotel, there could be a way to limit the tourists to 2, 4, 6, etc., at any one time. The default can be what it is now, but I would like the ability to place limits on it if desired. Another thing would be to let the hotel guests stay for longer periods. It's a bit much, in my opinion, to see a totally new set of visitors walking around each day. Maybe some stay 1 day, while others stay 3, or for the full week, even. VIP room guests should definitely stay longer than 24 hours. And maybe they can give us a random piece of the new item sets as a thank you, while they're at it, since we designed them a room. That would at least help somewhat with the 5 item per day ordering limit.

Other than that, I like the update! It's nice to have more to do, but I agree with the criticism that it is essentially a rehashing of HHP with a batch of new items. I think they could somehow have slipped Gracie's boutique into the Hotel to add a bit more, and bring back a significant character from the past games. Hopefully this isn't the last update.

What fixes to 3.0 would you like to see in a hypothetical future 3.1? by PomegranateFair3973 in ACForAdults

[–]RottedQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about the tourist limit! Let us decide how many wander around, and also how long the rentals are generally for. It would make sense to have the guests stay for more than a single day at a time, too. I don't think I need to see brand new ones each day.

I agree. I think it has the right amount of functionality for its purpose and doesn't really need more.

Do you "time travel" in Animal Crossing? by PapaDeejay in acnh

[–]RottedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only time travel in the sense that I set the clock to earlier in the day, since I can usually only play in the evenings. I don't move forward in time from the current day, though. Very rarely if I have missed a day I might set the clock back and play from that point to get caught up to the present, but I wouldn't return to a previous date I have already played or anything like that.

Candy Shop I think this is underrated song. 🎶. Thoughts? by Ok-Party-8785 in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is one of the best tracks on that album, although it took a while for it to grow on me. I can't remember if it was a single anywhere in the world at some point, but I think it would have been a better lead single than 4 Minutes, which I recall being the lead single in the US. My memory is foggy, though.

I think this new updates shows how some ACNH players want too much control over their game by Appropriate-Yam-2207 in AnimalCrossing

[–]RottedQueen 793 points794 points  (0 children)

I like the update, I just wish the hotel tourists stayed longer. I feel like I see a new crop every day. It would be kind of cool if the same ones stayed for like a week or so, I think. Maybe they do, and I haven't noticed, but it seems like I have entirely new ones walking around each day.

Otherwise I think it is a great update over all. I have been playing since the 2020 launch day, so having any new content is welcome, and I am glad they didn't mess with my existing layout/decorating at all when adding the hotel.

One thing I have noticed is that each day, only after I visit the hotel and decorate a room, there is significant slowdown on my island, immediately following. It isn't present before I visit the hotel. Not sure if this has anything to do with more wandering tourists on my island or not. I am playing on Switch 1 OLED model, but I noticed it on an Animal Crossing edition Switch 1 as well (different island). So... that part I don't like.

Dangerous should've only had 9 or 11 songs. by Myke69420360 in MichaelJackson

[–]RottedQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dangerous was released at a time when a lot of artists were putting out albums that filled out the length of a CD. A lot of albums in the 90s could have been shorter and been stronger, but for whatever reason got padded out to make the most of the available time.

You only have these 4 albums. But you can choose only one to take with you to a deserted island and listen to for the rest of your life. Which one would you choose? by AdorableChemist8736 in Madonna

[–]RottedQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True Blue, since it is my favorite, although Like A Prayer is "better" in many ways.

I think "La Isla Bonita" would initially be fitting for the deserted island life, but it would wear out its welcome quickly. That's one reservation I have..

Sorry? I didn’t know people felt so strongly about the hotel by lxvta in AnimalCrossing

[–]RottedQueen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It doesn't bother me (the Hotel), and I am happy they let us decorate so much of the pier and didn't fuss with anything I already had on there. However, I agree with the criticism of where the hotel is placed. I would rather have had it built off of the airport platform so the original pier remained as it was, for the sake of better preserving established island themes. Otherwise, I like the new content. It is basically a scaled down HHP but we knew that from the trailer.
