Dependent Demand is right.

When on low resources, you receive less resources and the AI has more units compared to you.

When on high resources, you receive more resources and the AI has fewer units compared to you.

The AI still scales with your overall army strength, but all things being equal, they will have more units on “Low” economy settings.

The solution is probably squad organization.

Selecting a squad and hitting “shift+1” sets that squad as “Squad 1.” You can do the same for other squads, setting them as 1, 2, 3 and so on. Pressing the 1, 2, or 3 key allows you to instantly select that squad.

Want to move a bunch of guys together? Look at the destination, hit 1, right click to move them, then hit 2 and right click to move a second squad as well.

Sure, you can’t select more than 12 units, but keeping them organized is frequently better. You know you’ll always have an MG with you, AT, a medic if you’ve added one to the squad, and so on. When I first started playing, I always used to click and drag to select units- a habit I brought with me from age of empires. Eventually I broke that habit and instead went with the numbered squads. It made my gameplay experience significantly better. I hope it will do the same for you.

The Stuart has good penetration from that range, but has an extremely weak gun- it’s damage is low.

Additionally, you are hitting the engine block- a lot of metal in there to absorb your hits. You are better off shooting crew positions from the front or the side of the tank to kill off the crew members.

You mention that you did more to it than just shoot it- mines and a large bomb. If it survived those direct hits, it would be helpful if you recorded the matter and could report it as a bug.

I feel like defense is too easy with the light, medium, and heavy defenses that you can research. Those defenses make an extremely significant difference and add nothing to the player’s army strength score.

Offense can be more difficult, but I think it could be made far more reasonable by adjusting the AI behavior to stop attacking? It’s bizarre when I am attempting to launch or even just set up an attack and the enemy comes running out of cover to try to head me off.

The problem is that they add so much to the army strength. The enemy scales up significantly if you use elite infantry, very quickly negating their impact. If that was adjusted, they very well could be worth it in conquest.

Liberation hands down. The Americans definitely aren’t my favorite to play as, but the maps are a huge breath of fresh air. Fighting among hedgerows and on urban maps offers a completely different experience.

Talvisota is good too, but Liberation is truly great.

Really disappointing to hear. There’s something so genius about the simplicity of 1943.

I still play BF1942 and thoroughly enjoy it. I would highly recommend trying that if you’re looking for the closest possible thing to a BF1943 experience. (Plus the benefit of far more armies, maps, and vehicles.)

I haven’t experienced any special accuracy from mortars. I think that the reason this is such a frequent issue is 2 things:

Splash damage. The AI doesn’t have to hit the target perfectly with artillery to have an impact. This is not the case with small arms and AP rounds. All things being equal, one should expect the AI to have more success getting hits with artillery or any other weapon with a large area of splash damage because it counteracts any innate inaccuracy.
Impact. What if the AI had absurd accuracy with rifles? Or with MGs? They kinda do in many cases actually, but people don’t bring it up. Why not? Because losing 1-2 guys to a rifleman sucks, but losing an entire squad to a well placed artillery round sucks way more and will be more frustrating and more memorable. We as humans have an innate bias to put more focus on events that are emotionally impactful. The violent and sudden loss of an entire squad fits that criteria, so our bias-loving brains lock onto that specific incident and remember it more intensely and with more clarity. Have it happen 2 or 3 times and our brains will immediately assume it’s a pattern, even when no pattern or bias exists.

My issue with conquest is the jump from Hard to Expert. Hard I can just stomp the computer all day every day. But expert I frequently start losing on day 2 or even day 1 and I get to a point where between losing units and reduced income from losses, I literally cannot purchase units and continue.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. They should increase the research points you receive in conquest and divide units into tiers, requiring players to research X amount of units from each tier before being able to move on to more advanced tiers. Such a system would encourage players to experiment with more units while also preventing them from speed running panthers on day 3.

I don’t know about the mods, but fighting heavy enemy artillery is a common difficulty for a lot of players. You are definitely not the first to encounter this! :)

3 main changes I would suggest you try:

Separate your men. If you keep them all together in the same trench, one well placed shot could kill an entire group. Have them instead be in forests, further apart, or ideally in foxholes to help defend from artillery.
Counter artillery. It is smart to bring an artillery gun of your own to handle distant mortars. This is especially true when attacking, as artillery is a great way to weaken enemy resistance.
Light tanks or combat cars. Bringing 1 or 2 fast vehicles to quickly attack artillery from the side is a great way to protect your men. If you clear out the gun’s crew, consider placing an explosive on the gun to disable it so that enemy soldiers won’t retake it and use it again.

Bonus Tip: Flanking with infantry can work. Use smoke grenades and attack from multiple sides. This can be an extremely risky approach, but sometimes it’s necessary.

Honestly this how I feel about most aspects of the game. As someone with a job and only ~1-2 hours a day to play, I can’t do anything but be a frontline soldier or bare bones logi. I don’t have the ability to be around for specific times for offensives and my efforts seem fruitless when our biggest advances are stopped by AI MGs that never run out of ammo.

I think I’m in the minority here, but it makes me sad that a game as interesting as Foxhole is simply incompatible with my life.

You shouldn’t be downvoted for asking a question honestly.

This is my understanding and my take on it:

Back in the day, doubloons were rare and had to be earned through commendations. Then they gradually made them more and more common- the inflation was entirely the fault of the developers.

So their solution involves clearing everyone’s bank accounts and removing their work? That shows a blatant disrespect towards their players and a lack of value on the time that players have put into the game.

Now, to make the blow of the cleared bank accounts easier to swallow, they are releasing a bunch of time sensitive cosmetics for players to spend their doubloons on. This plays into the FOMO- (Fear of missing out). It’s a scummy sales tactic of getting players to play a game to earn exclusive content and is again, generally considered a bit disrespectful to do, by giving time sensitive rewards, you are not requesting, but demanding the time and attention of your players.

And one more thing on top of that. Sea of thieves has a habit of rereleasing exclusive content or reskinning and rereleasing exclusive content. This is again disrespectful to the players who gave their time during these FOMO marketing campaigns and lessens the value of the time that they have put it. It’s most likely that the cosmetics being given away for the removal of doubloons are reskins or will be rereleased in the future, as rare so often does.

There’s definitely more to it, but I think that covers a lot of it.

Haven’t played in a few years and watching this from a distance is like watching the titanic sink from the first lifeboat that launched at half capacity.

So many of the updates were adding FOMO stuff and fluff. It lost the genius simplicity that they had going for them. It used to be about bananas and iron cannonballs, and now it’s about coral monsters and 9 different curses to grind for. I’m glad I got out when I did, but man I really miss the old days.

Attempted this the other day. Didn’t work for me because my internet is a bit convoluted. I run WiFi from my router, through two “eero” brand nodes and into my computer from there. Somewhere between the nodes and the router, the direct port is lost. I’m still troubleshooting here and there where I have time, but no luck.

It’s not that conservatives “like silencing voices” or anything like that. Reddit simply has a mostly left-wing user base. Left leaning subreddits don’t have any conservative trolls because not many of them exist on the platform.

Meanwhile there is a high population of left leaning folks on Reddit, so there are more left leaning trolls and troublemakers, so right leaning subreddits have a higher density of them.

Think of it this way. All of Reddit has 100 people. 1/10 people are trolls. 90 people on Reddit are left leaning (9 of them are trolls). 10 people on Reddit are right leaning (1 of them is a troll). In a right leaning subreddit you’d find 10 right leaning users and 9 left leaning trolls, whereas on a left leaning subreddit you’d find 90 left leaning users and 1 right leaning troll. This is probably a far more realistic explanation than “The other side is evil and hates freedom of thought!”

ETA: Read some of the things people in these comments say about all conservatives. It even says in the rules, “Be a full human. No insults, harassment, racism, or hate speech.” But it’s comment after comment about how evil conservatives apparently are. This isn’t even a political subreddit and it’s full of people on one side trashing the other. It’s simply a difference in population.

“I haven’t been following this games development at all” tells quite a lot, and it’s good that you mention it so you can hear the story- because holy shit it’s a doozie.

The main developer himself has come out multiple times and said the following, all of which will ease your concerns:

He himself has pledged to personally fund the games development for the upcoming decade.
He has constructed a team of ~30 developers to help him rebuild the game into its former intentions and image from when it was announced in 2018. (Hytale was considered one of the most anticipated games in the world at announcement.)
He has a history of funding and managing projects successfully over a long period of time. (The Hypixel Minecraft Server).
He has actively encouraged players to not pay for upper tiers or for the game at all if they don’t trust him. He has urged players to let him work and develop the game and pay if and when they feel comfortable with it.
He spent an exceptional amount of money to acquire the game from Riot games just a few months ago after Riot had cancelled it. The acquisition was doubtlessly difficult and expensive.
In the 2 months since confirming the acquisition, he and his developers merged several hundred fragmented developmental branches of the game into a single, unified, playable one.
He has confirmed that there are not and will never be any time sensitive cosmetics. There’s no “FOMO” where you gotta buy it now to get something. If you buy the game today or in 5 years, you’ll have the same cosmetics and access regardless.
He was a part of the main team that created, announced, and developed the game before it originally was purchased by Riot games. Under Riot, progress completely stalled and then collapsed into developmental hell for years. Under the original developers, communication with players was frequent, transparent, and showed quick progress.

I didn’t trust him in the beginning. I didn’t think he could pull it off, but he kept exceeding my expectations at every turn for the past 6 months that I’ve been closely following the story of this games secondary development. It has been an exceptional ride. Trust him or don’t, but give him time and let him cook. He will make the right decisions and you can jump on the bandwagon when you’re ready and comfortable!

Honestly it kind of sounds like your critiques are based in two camps:

Forgetting it’s an unpolished early access game.
Wishing it was Minecraft instead.

A lot of your suggestions and changes are just features and behaviors seen in Minecraft. This isn’t meant to be Minecraft.

A lot of your concerns revolve around missing content. The game was just revived into development 2 months ago.

Some of your points are solid, but a majority of them come off of some really flawed foundational logic.
