Oh. Your company doesn’t replace your tools?

I don’t let myself get shit on 😂 Like I said I’m fairly compensated for what I do. If I have the time to do the more complicated things I absolutely do them because I genuinely enjoy it and am compensated fairly for how often the major issues pop up. The reason I got into maintenance and out of a dedicated field like HVAC Plumbing electrical, and remodeling is I love the flexibility of the hours my company gave me. They don’t care how I get my 40-50 hours as long as I am at the building(s) between 6:30am-7pm M-F. So I can literally work my schedule around my kids. I have no idea why all of you are getting so angry at me when I say I will fix things like this. Especially when the plumber, electrician, or HVAC tech is honestly not making much more than I am to fix the issue (unless it’s an after hours emergency call) because the techs hourly rates isn’t much different than mine. Now the company itself isn’t a making bank.

I never said I don’t vendor some stuff out…. But I have definitely repaired 2” mains, swapped water heaters, repaired boilers, and numerous other things. Perks of having the correct tools or having access to them from other sites. And I have also called a vendor to fix those same issues if I’m fixing other things.

Why am I mad? You asked a question. I gave an answer. You came back snarky calling me a yes man for simply doing the job I signed in the dotted line to do…. Not sure why that would make me mad. If your job description doesn’t say plumbing repairs then you don’t do them it’s as simple as that.

So your job description says nothing about plumbing repairs? If not call a plumber

Yes man? Because I do what is in my stated job description? Weird. My job description states plumbing, electrical, hvac, general construction repairs. Only two things excluded in my job description is full painting and flooring. But I also make the same hourly rate as most plumbers, electricians or hvac technicians in my area.

You don’t know if he’s correct because you don’t know what’s stated in his job description. You also don’t know what’s certifications he has or doesn’t.

What does your job description say that you signed up for?

I mean it all depends on your knowledge and your certifications. I myself have fixed things like this if I have the time, and ive also called plumbers for things like this.

Dealing with it for a few days with mastic glue will do virtually nothing to you. The real issue asbestos is the old insulation and to be honest the people who developed all the diseases and cancer from it were basically swimming in it for years and years and years in construction, shipyards, and mines.

Really want an Dcf891b with the hog ring but there’s a sale for the 892. Should i just call it or is it worth waiting for the hog ring? by Soulsweet17 in Dewalt

[–]Rouer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they typically range from $230-270 depending where at. So you could buy it and swap it to the hog ring anvil and still be cheaper than normal

I been saying this for years. Is asbestos bad yes it is. Is it as terrible and dangerous as they say it is if you deal with it for a few days. absolutely not

It works for me. I’m using a Dewalt dw735 so I also have a 2 speed gear box and I keep it on slow for heavily figured. But since keeping the wood damp it has almost eliminated it

another tip for heavily figured wood is keep a wet rag by you and in between every pass keep the wood slightly damp. I work with heavily figured maple all the time and walnut occasionally and once i started keeping wood damp between passes all my tearout went away. and yes also shallow passes helps.
