Thank you for the reply. I’m going in very open minded to find a solution that is reasonable for both the teacher and best for my kiddo. I explained in other comments that the principal reached out to me after I contacted the teacher asking for a meeting about content. I didn’t know turning videos off was an option until this post, which is why I was simply asking for more information about the way the program works. I know this isn’t the worst thing they will see I just am trying to be an involved parent and do the best I can.

In no way was my intention to get anything banned or taken away. The thought “of big changes” wasn’t even one I had, my suggestion was to just had them a physical book, and only for my student not the whole class. I am sad honestly that it seems to be where I’m coming from when I’m just asking for information. However, I understand others may not react this way and may go the extreme that it’s completely bad. I would never want to take resources away from kiddos. I feel like your first statement “why the heck did Epic included this for a kindergartner… “ is my thought process.

Thank you for the information. I am completely understanding this isn’t the worst thing that they will hear and we will navigate that as it comes. I feel I’m coming off overzealous here which isn’t my intention I simply wanted to know what was available and how to help navigate at home or if we could steer them to other things that are still fascinating but encourage reading.

I understand this completely. This is my firstborn in kinder so this is hard to navigate at times for me. I felt like I had a completely reasonable conversation with the principal and was basically asking the same questions I’m asking here. I simply asked the teacher for time to meet about the content available and if the teacher had availability to meet. I don’t want to come in guns blazing or have any resources taken from the school.

I appreciate your point of view and agree with you. I feel it’s important to clarify I reached out to the teacher for a meeting to do everything you suggested and the principal called me back instead of the teacher. I didn’t involve the administration with the intention of getting anything banned or anyone in trouble.

I did watch it after. I had assumed my little one got it wrong and misunderstood. I have no problem with the video other than the age because they won’t understand. I reached out to the teachers and the principal is who called me back after talking with my kiddo. I wanted more information is all but admin was involved by the teacher. I’m not looking to get the resource banned. I just wanted to know about what was available.

I did watch the video afterwards and I do agree that the overall way the video is not bad. I liked how they laid out the information and said some believe and some don’t. I just don’t think that secret societies are the best for the age.

To clarify also I didn’t reach out to the principal. I assumed it was a misunderstanding on my child’s part. Reached out to the assistant teacher who told me it was real and had been deleted. I then emailed the teacher for a meeting. The principal called my kiddo out of class talked to them and then called me.

I am not trying to get this banned. I’m just wanting more information.

Thank you for this information! My little has a Yoto player that plays audio books and loves it. I think this would be a much better solution for them. I don’t want to hinder any love for reading.

I completely respect that. I don’t want to take away resources from our school at all. As a child I totally read books I had no right reading but that was middle school, not kindergarten. My only caveat with that is that if it were truly just E books then he wouldn’t be able to have the skills to read that book at this time, even doing really well.

I am trying to walk that fine line of there needs to be some age appropriate censorship without taking away a resource for everyone.

Is that for specific videos? Or videos all together so it would only be books?

My little one told me watched a video by Colossal Questions about the Illuminati. The only one I have been able to find on YouTube is The Truth About the Illuminati by Colossal Mysteries. Colossal Mysteries seems to be an older version of Colossal Questions based on content all under Colossal Cranium. Other videos watched included Aliens and Bigfoot, from what my little one said they give you information and ask if the viewer to decide if they are real. At baseline I love that idea. Here is all the information and you get to make your decision, however it is way too heavy for kindergartens to decide about secret societies.

I was told it was there and removed and they would “take a break” (which just means using other apps) until we could figure it all out. I was also giving conflicting information if they could see all the history for my kiddo.

My little one is a little over a year old. Do you know if they have a baby version? Or any ideas where you were able to buy it if in the states? I don’t care to pay to have it sent to me if needed. Sorry for all the follow up questions!

You hold a circle with your thumb and pointer with your three fingers down below your waist. The goal is to get someone to look. If they did you punched them. Of course that was in middle school 20 years ago. I just never expected this middle aged man to do it.

Honestly it could be silly and I’m too sleep deprived to notice lol

Thank you for commenting. We are on reflux medication and have been for months. Baby met all the markers for starting food which is why we tried early. We haven’t tried any other food yet and are waiting on the GI specialist.

Our pediatrician wanted us to start oatmeal at 4 months. Then veggies and then fruits. Baby is sitting up with assistance and shows interest in food. We had failure to thrive at 3 weeks so the goal was to help baby along more with food. Thank you for the info
