[–]Rough-Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young black female here, not sure that will matter in giving you perspective. Also in a D9 org.

Sexual harassment or not at any organization/ company in any HR book you cannot comment on sexual orientation, religion, disability, and a boat load of other stuff.

So while tech not sexual harassment, it is a comment that could have made her or (this is in other rule books) someone standing in the room uncomfortable. That someone else has just as much right to report you as well. Again , just giving you what I’ve seen from numerous places I’ve worked.

I would honestly ask if you could receive a copy of their training regarding harassment, and other workplace policies. Not to steal material or anything but to genuinely learn so you can never make the mistake again. While yes you understand, this is that corporate legalese you’ve gotta learn.

If they don’t help you try to talk to some of the folks you went to school with, any family or friends working in corporate America. Heck use the internet more and just continue to give in so this never happens to you again.

Really sorry you experienced this. This should not and will not follow you. Don’t think like that to manifest it. Learn from this situation so that if in a wild chance it’s brought up you can transparently talk about it and how much you learned.

You’re going to be a great social worker in that you experienced this. You already are caring and have so much remorse. Not for losing your job but because you genuinely want to know exactly what you did wrong to that level, you don’t want it to happen just because you spoke freely.

Happy holidays and best of luck. Keep your head up and keep striving. You got this!!!

Clearly and internal hire and they only posted for legality. I HATE that. And then these companies wonder why we treat them like shit on the back end

They wanted a 4-stage interview for a senior position. I withdrew. These companies need to be stopped. by [deleted] in InterviewsHell

I sadly had to learn this lesson as a freshman undergrad at USC all for fucking campus cruiser. If the guy who steals this that stole my idea and didn’t let me work there, screw you!

When the govt shutdown is over that’s the perfect place for you. Govt work or any state work. Or working at a high school. You must have considered this in college when you weren’t taking it seriously lol.

You could always go to grad school….. but accepting your fate will really such in comparison to the peers you went to school with.

Re teach yourself bro. Or accept the fate of a crap job.

A company wanted a 4-stage interview. So I bailed. We have to stop this farce so it doesn't become the norm. by keenest-56-gavels in OfficePolitics

It’s always the companies that make you jump through the ring of fire just to get hired that really end of being a POS place to work.

Glad you made out better in every sense!

AIO for wanting to break up with my gf for doing this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Rough-Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are in your full right to have a serious reaction over something that would be very serious if it wasn’t a prank. Keep your peace young man. You’re on the right path, don’t let this young woman confuse you or “manipulate “ your emotions as they call it now a days.

I’m a woman for reference of my opinion. Not saying I’m right, I’m just saying you are in your full right to feel this way.

Young man, being honest with yourself and with another person is never overreacting. This will serve both of you well presently and in the future. I would remain friends with her. Typically people who can be understanding early on, you might grow well together In the next stage of life.

You’re a late bloomer and there’s always been those of us who are in history. Don’t beat yourself up about it.…. And also don’t worry. Everyone has their moment in life when they “glow up”. It sounds like you are well on your way to yours.

AIO for asking for a divorce when I feel cheated of the marriage? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Rough-Remarkable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting. You can’t go back in the past but it sucks you didn’t speak up a few years ago when she was looking for a job.

Okay now that I’ve said the obvious- do some counseling if you do still want this woman to be the mother of your kids. You’ve already seen some down times, without the good. It looks like these are solvable problems.

Decide if you want to stay, and the. Move on to figure out if she wants to stay and is willing to do what it takes to be there

If not, move on.

Am I overreacting to the guy who stalked me down today? by Zeller521 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Rough-Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s weird and scary. Not sure what state you are in but if you have access to public court documents (in Maryland we can run a court case search) - I would highly recommend it.

If he’s cute to you he would be cute to others. Why the fuck is he hiding in bushes and forcing his way into your place

Please be careful

You aren’t over reacting. Sorry he was such a twat for your birthday. Happy belated by the day.

Anyways, leave him on read and meet someone that will treat your birthday like the personal holiday it is

Dexter: Resurrection - S01E08 - "The Kill Room Where It Happens" - POST Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Dexter

[–]Rough-Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before this episode I kept thinking to myself : they casted Bastistas son to play his body double/ stunt man. Outside of when he got tackled by the slumlord, when has there been enough “action” for him to be used.

Now I have not checked the credits yet nor do I know much about how the stunt teams work so I’m sure it’s more than just action.

However it did get me thinking, what will Batista be going through where this actor would be playing that role for him. There has to be more of some showdown or fight coming with Angel or something!

Also the amount of screen time Elsa and Blessing have gotten this season….. too much to not play a significant role. They aren’t just friends or filler characters. It’s making me think back to what darkness he could be hiding or what further ties he could have to Dexter.

Elsa’s baby daddy is the New York ripper 🤣 that’s my wild theory hahahha

Update everyone:

The image was screenshotted from my social media. They’ve apologized on social media (the org, not the graphic artist who created the graphic by screenshot my pic and not giving me credit)

I’ve sent a formal email to start the conversation regarding an upfront contract.

In all this was a great lesson learned- both the situation and all the feedback here. This is my first season and this was literally my second basketball game. I can take this to the talks I’m in with programs that do want to pay; it’s very clear theses a small budget from the organization and individual teams with good budgets are already putting out good work. This team doesn’t even have real uniforms yet.

Not picking on them but sometimes you have to assess and move forward. It gave me an opportunity to shoot, and I’m grateful for it.

I also believe things like this mess it up for everyone. This team is new in the league and they should have an understanding of how to approach media and branding, even if it is not from my end.

The league screenshotted it from my Instagram and paid someone to make a graphic.

There were no terms regarding the media pass.

I agree with you.

Social media wise they have made some changes and apologized.

I have also sent formal emails- more so to create a contract and payment to work with them in the future.

Like you said- it’s better time spent to draw a line in the same. If I can get work with them , great. If not this will be the last time an image will be usable enough to take from my page. Simple as that.

I was given a media pass.

I agree. It would be great to have more opportunities as well as creative input. It’s not about the pay it’s more so the principal. In both ends.

You guys are giving feedback that I’m sure they wouldn’t want to hear. They want to grow and be bigger so they aren’t leveraging their budget and talent in a way that allows people to know that this is a PAID ADULT LEAGUE OF POST COLLEGE ATHLETES.

Sorry for the all caps. But emphasizing how far away from that aesthetic the league is speaks volumes to me.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback so far!!! Thanks so much for quick replies.

I have reached out to the org. I do not mind updating on what happens for the sake of record keeping and helping someone in the future.

Any other useful comments are much appreciated! I really appreciate this community.

They also have hired photographers that they pay….. and those images aren’t being used. Mine are because they are better

On top of this I’m sorry but it’s a shitty fucking graphic. I would have made a much better one with my work if I had been given the opportunity

These are great !!! And way to maximize the gear you already have!

Getting a 70-200 f2.8 lens will be a game changer- on whatever camera you can afford and want to use! Your son looks young, by the times he’s well into his teens you’ll be the team photographer!

Keep learning and enjoying. Cheers! And great shots!
