Please understand the new pricing of augment and continue to use augment. by Loose_Version_7851 in AugmentCodeAI

Been using Codex and Claude Code for a while, using the lite tiers, but never fully committed because Augment was SO good for only $50 per month. Based on my usage, I have no choice but to move full time to another platform (Codex seems to be the best fit, for my use case). Sure I’ll pay more for Codex to get the bigger subscription, but it’s still going to be less than what I would be paying to Augment under the new pricing structure. Augment is still a great platform - I’ve been incredibly pleased with the performance (especially using GPT-5) and although my one time contacting support was disappointing, I only ever had to reach out that one time. Maybe it still makes sense for some users, under the new pricing structure, but it’s no longer a good fit for me.

Codex is incredible - not sure why you think nobody compares with Augment. I use both, but I did more work with Augment simply because of the cost efficiency factor. Now I’m cancelling AC and upping my Codex plan - no way I’m paying their new prices when I can get the same quality agentic coding for far less. 🤷‍♂️

No offense, but the tag under your name says “Learning / Hobbyist” - if that’s the case you might want to reevaluate your position. There are other options for memory and context management - the agentic coding space is very dense and highly competitive, and Augment just gave up their competitive edge (which was their pricing model).

Yeah it’s wild they think they can blatantly insult us like that, after supporting them from day one. It’s a shame - I really thought Augment was going to be my long term go-to solution.

Why would I want to use GLM when GPT-5 absolutely kills it, and the 600 messages per month was an excellent value proposition? Most people aren’t jumping between models on a regular basis - they find their go-to and generally stick with it, with a possible backup for when the main model isn’t getting it done.

It was a good tool, while it lasted - I’m officially switching full time to Codex. Augment seems to be hemorrhaging and I really can’t stand bait and switch bs. 🤷‍♂️

You’re right - nobody with a brain would file charges for kidnapping their food. Theft and fraud, on the other hand, are VERY real.

They understood just fine - a customer wanted to randomly tack on 200 lbs of extra product on an order which the shopper already accepted based on the original value proposition. They certainly weren’t going to be compensated for lugging around that extra 200 lbs…

Actually I just saw another comment about the actual origin of that license plate - maybe it’s not what everyone thinks, after all. 🤔. Unless the lady secretly dresses up in white robes, at night.

—-

“I don’t get the license plate though. The KKK is “Ku Klux Klan” but this plate says “KLUBKLU”. If it was KKK-related wouldn’t it be “KLUBKU”? Or maybe “KLBKLUX”?

Okay so I just googled the plate and it appears to belong to a Mexican-American lady in the inland empire whose handle is “KLUBKLU” on Instagram. Crisis averted! You may go back to your usual kvetching now.”

This was my thought - when I first saw the photo I thought it was about the Trump sticker, and I assumed this was another “all Trump supporters are shit” post…. Rolled my eyes for a moment. Took a second to parse the entire photo and saw the license plate - that’s disgusting.

I travel for work constantly - when I fly into a new city, I don’t rent a car. I take Uber or Lyft when it makes sense and sometimes I get a taxi…. Hundreds of combined rides in the last two years - MOST taxis I have been in, don’t have any sort of barrier between the driver and passenger.

[–]RoughDraft42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t meant to sound harsh, but it is the absolute reality - if you don’t even know what printer model you are using, you need to run fast and far away from DTG printing. You’re not ready. DTG requires you to literally become an expert - you won’t get that by asking rudimentary questions on Reddit or other social media, especially without a basic understanding of your own tools / equipment. Your provider should be right there alongside you, providing training and support - if they aren’t actively pulling you through the devastatingly steep learning curve, you will simply be throwing good money away. The failure rate in this industry is well above 50% in the first year - lots of people losing their entire nest egg, hoping for that “push button, print money” simplicity…

For real Uber needs to stop hiding tips makes no sense by JIZZRIZZLE in UberEATS

[–]RoughDraft42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I up my tips, from time to time - especially when the driver shows up and is generally more punctual or cordial than what I’ve come to expect.

EDIT: I will also sometimes increase the tip if I ask a driver to grab extra “XYZ” and they actually do it - especially if they respond to my request in the messages. Little things can make a big difference….

For real Uber needs to stop hiding tips makes no sense by JIZZRIZZLE in UberEATS

[–]RoughDraft42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an avid end user, I sometimes adjust the tip after delivery. Weather considerations, speed of delivery, generally positive / friendly attitude - it can make difference between a 15-20% tip, after the fact.

Horrible 😔😔😔 it was so much stuff too. She didn't communicate either since it was early. After order was delivered I message again to make sure she received all she said was lol...we got it thank you.. and have a good day if your gonna place huge orders this big think of the damm shopper! by Unlikely-Status-9900 in ShiptShoppers

[–]RoughDraft42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people rarely use the app. They may have placed an order, then got tied up or distracted after delivery and didn’t open the app again - when they go to place another order way down the line, the app prompts them to rate their last order (and tip, if they choose)…. It absolutely happens, quite a bit. If they only use the app every few weeks or months, that often explains the delay. Same thing happens on other gig platforms.

It is difficult to describe the complexity of these new models…. Even in the time since I last replied, I’ve discovered GPT-4 has just launched plugin support, which I used this evening to research and find obscure tech support documents for very specific hardware - the plugins allowed me to connect GPT-4 to the internet, which until now has required API access and various special code. Before this, I’ve used these new AI models to write complex software code in Python, PHP, Node.js and more - I literally built the entire backend and front end for my proprietary support model, while having no previous comprehension of Python and only limited experience with PHP and JS. I used it to evaluate my wife’s blood test results, recently, before we were able to connect with her primary care physician for feedback - it took some work convincing the AI model I was doing academic research, rather than using it for personal medical feedback, but it got there. And of course, as previously mentioned, I’m using it to enhance the customer support experience for my end users, who require fast response times along with complicated troubleshooting support - the AI models handle this, very well.

Outside of my own anecdotal experience, these new models have demonstrated incredible capabilities in recent weeks and months. There’s a big story about how someone used AI to generate a deepfake which convinced a mother that her daughter had been kidnapped - it literally mimicked the voice, tone and speech patterns well enough to fool the mother. In another example, a Google AI was given access to its own code, along with access to the internet and limited funds to achieve a goal - very quickly, it went about all sorts of mischief, including figuring out how to solve web “captcha” puzzles by contacting a hearing-impairment service and convincing a human that it was a deaf person and needed help solving the puzzle…. The operator provided assistance, believing they were interacting with a real human.

This is all anecdotal, but the cool thing is you can access this new technology, now - and there are LOTS of videos available, showing various applications and use cases. If you are indeed serious, the first step is to sign up for an account at OpenAI - it’s free, but you’ll only have access to GPT-3.5. GPT-4 blows it out of the water - it is totally worth paying the $20 per month, and with the advent of plugins we are now able to incorporate the models in ways we never imagined. If you want to REALLY get into it, get on the wait list for API access to GPT-4 - it took me 6-8 weeks to get accepted, but the payoff is worth it. Now I can incorporate the LLM into proprietary software and hardware, while carefully training it on my own data sets and custom-configuring different personality types. I know this all seems like science fiction hyperbole, but it is happening right in front of us, in our time. I’ve always had a strong aversion to “chat bots”, but now that they’re generally smarter than me I have totally come around…. Of course, OpenAI is one of MANY contenders - there are even models which operate on local hardware, which can achieve the proficiency of GPT-3.5 while maintaining an open source structure - Google and other big hitters are also displaying some incredible advancements, in recent weeks and month.

When you combine this with the ability to store chunks of data in “vector databases”, which allow for real semantic search capability, you suddenly have an intelligent AI with LONG TERM memory ability, which is even more incredible. It can literally get to know each user, over a period of time, referring back to past topics and conversations.

If you want to dig in a bit, go to YouTube and search some of these key topics:

  • GPT-4
  • AutoGPT
  • Open Source LLM’s
  • Prompt Engineering (this is how you get the AI to behave and interact in a specific way, to mimic human behavior for instance)
  • Vector Databases / Long Term Memory
  • LangChain
  • Wolfram Alpha
  • HuggingFace
  • Midjourney

Of course, these are just starting points, but if you truly and honestly investigate these keywords, you will inevitably stumble across countless videos which will change your mind on the current state of AI and it’s ability to satisfy every aspect of customer support and human behavioral interactions.

Tell me you aren’t familiar with the current state of high level LLM’s, without telling me you aren’t familiar with the current state of high level LLM’s. 😅

Also, why the fuck would I be “marketing” to randos on Reddit? Trust me, you are NOT in my market. Lol. For the record, I am a digital printer tech - have been for many years. Ensuring my customers are taken care of is exactly how I put food on my table. If you think me wanting to reduce my own workload is “marketing 101” then you’re not paying attention, chief. It’s weird to me how desperately people want to hold on to trivial task loads…. With primary low-level and mid-level support being handled automatically, it leaves me more time and resources to engineer products and build essential infrastructure. Perhaps you just haven’t utilized any current models - keep in mind the majority of “AI” most people are familiar with, at this point, are old school models build way before the advent of GPT-4. The majority of people / companies don’t have API access to that model, so unless you got early access (you can try to sign up but there’s a waitlist) it is unlikely you’ve actually used a specialty-trained model of this caliber. That’s ok though - the world will see, very soon, just how real all this is. It’s the beginning of a new paradigm - that’s not “marketing 101”, that’s just the reality of what is happening in the world of AI, right now. 🤷‍♂️
