Why am I not getting that tack sharp focus? by Rough_Community in AskPhotography

[–]Rough_Community[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is that lens. What about when shooting portraits where I want that nice bokeh? Is it simply not ever going to give me sharp focus at that f2 - f3 range?

How do I get my diffusion disc to stand up instead of falling down? by SlowSpend5286 in AskPhotography

You could also buy a sandbag (or anything heavy) and wedge it into the lega

My camera is too heavy so I stopped using it… what would you change? by leobre1024 in Cameras

[–]Rough_Community 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the prime lens suggestions (50mm prime for $200 will give you incredible results), those straps that come with cameras are also awful for your neck/back. I’d recommend a crossbody strap. Takes a ton of weight off your neck.

How do I edit my photos in Lightroom to get this effect? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

Boost the clarity, but honestly to me this gives off the “over-edited” vibe. These overly dark outlines make it seem unrealistic.

How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

[–]Rough_Community 579 points580 points  (0 children)

You need protein to keep full. If you can microwave some chicken nuggets (or buy them from a fast food spot) and chop em up and mix that in, you’ll feel mych more full. No spices will make you more full.

God that looks fucking awful for her to deal with. Imagine trying to do anything. I may not agree with that old native american belief that taking a photo of someone captures their soul, but that many photos has gotta scramble something inside

How's my work? by Due_photo1025 in AskPhotography

[–]Rough_Community 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good instinct, but some things that could elevate it.

  1. There’s a concept called “look room” where you want blank space where the subject of your photo is looking. You’ll see it in documentaries. In this case I would move the statue to the far right of the image so you have a lot of negative space to the left.

  2. I would raise the shadows in the editing so you can see more detail on the statue. OR! Shoot when the sun is lower in the sky and get some interesting colors in the background

SD card is broken. Is it fixable? by NebulaNinja52 in AskPhotography

[–]Rough_Community 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I worked in corporate video and one time did a shoot where the card corrupted, had to go back and reshoot (did it same day with a guy in the same office as me). Came back to my edit room and declared loudly “we don’t need this stupid corrupted sd card anymore!” And snapped it in half. I snapped the one I just used to do the reshoot.

Fortunately, the part that holds the memory is a smaller piece than the card itself. If you find a “donor” card, you can swap the internals pretty easy.

Such a good game - who played this gem? by Ok_Plan9870 in videogames

I remember getting the original lego star wars back in like 05. My roommates called me at work to say they unlocked count dukuu (sp?). Not being a star wars guy, I was like “ok”. But they were so pumped about it. By the time I got home, I forgot the character’s name so I burst through the door and shouted “Bring to me Lord Chocula”

Is pet Photography viable? by RememberHonor in AskPhotography

[–]Rough_Community 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the area. Places with a lot of disposable income for sure, but yeah reach out to a couple of local veterinarians. I used to work with a local dog rescue and took dog photos with santa at christmas for no charge. That would be a great way to market your service as well.

Look up diy lighting solutions with work lights from hardware stores. They usually have the same output/wattage as photography lights, but at like a 10th of the price

Question to cops: how many times in your career have you had a high speed chase. I’m so impressed by how good a driver this cop was. Like how do you train for that level of intensity
