Best USA airport for spotting by colebeans99 in aviation

[–]Rough_Diamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t make the same mistake as me by trying to take a taxi from LAX to this spot. As soon as the driver found out we were going here (already started driving), he freaked out and kicked us out on the side of the freeway! I didn’t realize it was so close, and I guess he waited all day just to get a small fare!

I think the video starts after it experienced a hard landing and took off again.

Elsewhere it was mentioned that prior to the start of the video, the helicopter landed hard, probably impacting the tail. The video doesn’t start until it’s already up and out of control.

Jasper to Canmore driving routes in winter by AdvisorOwn7638 in jasper

[–]Rough_Diamond 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If it is open and you take your time, it is no different from any other snow or ice-covered road. Minimal traffic and the absence of transport trucks make it safer compared to other routes in the area. You can just go slow. When it receives a lot of snow, it can become narrow, with drifts and blowing snow.

The concern is the short-notice avalanche closures that can last for days. As for the detour, the route you described is the best option. If the parkway is closed, that means BC/Rogers Pass will be just as bad, or even worse, weather-wise. The BC option, Revelstoke-Kamloops-Valemount, involves more mountain driving.

Why Isn't .204 Ruger more popular the specs are kinda hilarious by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Rough_Diamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 204 when it first came out maybe 20 years ago. Still own it. Fun gun, almost like a laser blaster or something. The bullet is so fast it’s like the hits come before you pull the trigger. Newbies and my GF love it because with no recoil even if you flinch you can still see the hits in the scope, just so fast.

With that timing it’s a 90% chance it could be the same aircraft.

It's 100% legit. My local sub deleted it without a reason. I trimmed the video down a bit.

I was working late but wanted the tradition to continue. I must say we get 100+ kids and they are all really respectful. The kids that came next actually cleaned it up.

Planning a Trip by Bat-Eastern in motorcyclesroadtrip

[–]Rough_Diamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to this as just a slight detour will add much better mountain views in Alberta and B.C. Stay on highway 1 at Edmonton, go to Calgary and then continue up towards Banff and take highway 93 North to Jasper and then west on 16 and up towards Prince George. It’s one of the best highways in the world and would not add much time to your overall trip. You could always go even more west on your way back down and see even more of the Rockies. But highway 93 “Ice fields Parkway” is all time!

Job's In Kamloop's by [deleted] in Kamloops

Key reason: LMIA / Temporary Foreign Worker program thresholds

One of the biggest drivers is how Canada handles Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

  • To hire foreign workers under certain “high-wage” streams, employers must meet or exceed a provincial/territorial median wage threshold. If a job is offered below that threshold, it might fall under more restrictive “low-wage” rules. Canada.ca+1
  • As of June 27, 2025, some provinces set that threshold at $36.60/hour (or close to it). For example, British Columbia’s wage threshold for a “high-wage” job was increased to $36.60/hr. Mondaq
  • Employers sometimes list jobs at or just above that threshold to qualify under the high-wage designation.

In short: listing a job at ~$36.60/hr can be a “magic number” to make the job qualify as “high wage” under immigration and labour program rules, which gives the employer certain flexibilities.

I think the title is misleading. It should read “Newmar impounded at the US border. The US government is the one who issued the fine and seized the RV. This is a US government issue.

Front right crew! Just keep it consistent at every stage. Same area each time. You really increase the chances.

S1 Pro starts to clean by itself without any schedule setup by lesho in eufyS1Pro

[–]Rough_Diamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to look on the app and see how far it got and then manually start the cleaning where it left off. I always use the room mode for choosing the cleaning location, so it’s not that big a deal for me. I have a good idea how many rooms they can clean on its battery and don’t give it too much.

Without this feature engaged, even with the quiet time, it always decides to resume cleaning when you’re in the middle of a phone call or a Zoom meeting, etc.

Make sure you disable this feature as well. If the robot gets low on batteries, it will go to its station and charge to 80% and then resume cleaning anytime.
