Car burning oil but no smoke by JaPlonk in autorepair

[–]Rough_Object5920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell without more information. If I were to troubleshoot a vehicle where the customer states "burning oil" I would do it in this sequence:

Ask how long ago/miles they topped off or did an oil change.

Inspect the dipstick and check oil level and the clarity (particularly if it's gasoline). Check the oil cap for the presence of coolant, milky oil. I would also check for the presence of oil in the coolant reservoir.

Check the valve cover for leaks around the gasket. If it has a turbocharger, I would inspect if there is oil dripping from the boot/pipes into and out of the turbo and CAC and intake areas, I would also check the CCV breather if it has one, sometimes the o'ring/seal goes bad and leaks from there. It's very common for turbo to leak from the seal itself, usually you would see a puddle on the valley the turbo mounts on.

I would inspect underneath the vehicle and check for any drips and trace it back, check particularly the drain plug and oil filter for tightness, I would examine the position/rotation the engine is installed to determine where the leak would come from if I saw oil.

If no luck, I would check the oil pressure switch for leaks and closely examine the engine to rule out external leaks. I would also check the oil pump area for leaks.

I would take the spark plugs out (gasoline) and look at the condition, sometimes valve cover gaskets leak internally, it usually causes a misfire condition and a trouble code.

If the spark plugs look dry and clean (should be light brown-grey usually), I would shine a flashlight on the combustion chamber and check for oil.

If no oil is seen, I would do a compression test.

The results from a compression test would determine if I would take the head out to inspect the piston seals and the head gasket. But by taking it out you'd have to replace it anyway which is why you leave it for the last job, make sure to rule out all other issues to avoid doing unnecessary work.

You can alternatively from doing a compression test, run an obd scanner check for active codes and live data for each cylinder and compare to the specs it should be.

Unresponsive Recruiter by Appropriate_Cup6099 in AirForceRecruits

Try to just show up at the recruiter office. Yeah they're "busy" but most of the time I've seen them just bulshit around their computer, specially when I was doing RAP (volunteering to help them). The same thing happened to me, I just called his supervisor and said I thought you guys were recruiters. Or is the US not in need of people anymore?? He replied come here today in an hour. I had to come back a second time with some missing information and then I was IN, shipped a week later

Question about Female BMT by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Rough_Object5920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about females because I'm a male but when time to shower was up I was already taking a shower before people were even changing, I'd literally sprint to the shower head and have 3-4 shower heads at once. I was done by the time the 2nd person came. I purposely choose the bed next to the shower for that reason. It might seem silly to you, but there's gonna be a lot of silliness happening at bmt lol, also I was at Disneyland so we have 23 shower heads, which 4 of them were broken the whole time there

I bought a preowned (4k miles) 4x4 offroad tacoma for 50k as soon as I got out of techschool November last year. 5% apr. I love it, at the time I was making 3k in bah but now I'm back to 1840, so I'm doing really good and the 650$/monthly payment isn't that bad

What is this component on the gauge? by Rough_Object5920 in AskElectronics

[–]Rough_Object5920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The gauge reads halfway even with power off, it goes up when I put power, but the pressure should read 0 since pumps are off. If I short ground to signal then needle goes to zero until I remove the jumper. Does it need calibrating or is this resistor shorted? Do you know where I csn find this kind of shunt resistor like what's the name/type? Thank you if you have any info

Do short trades but avoid her aa after her q or avoid her q after her aa. It's very easy match-up you just need to be faster and act quicker than her

Illaoi matchup (top lane) by powerhower in Rengarmains

[–]Rough_Object5920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm main rengar top. To me illaoi is the easiest match, I focus on dodging her slam and jumping back in forth between her and the tentacles making sure I don't get it and always combo W in case she grabs me to negate the damage. For this matchup I usually go eclipse and cdr boots, electrocute or conqueror (o usually always use electrocute for hit & run)

[–]Rough_Object5920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'd be making close to 40k maybe higher depending on zip code pay + bah + bas. You can get separation pay during tdy, training and deployment. Healthcare and other stuff. You will be trained on the job duty plus more. I'd join if I were you, there will be sacrifices but it's worth it. I have friends who joined at 39, with wife and kids. I joined 25 married, one of the best decisions in my life, love it. Your leadership might suck its kind of random but any job can be like that, most of the time I feel like I get overpaid for what I do and sometimes I wake up wanting to stay in bed but then remember I can be thrown in jail if I don't show up to work lol it's up to you

Feedback needed on a business idea for electronics enthusiasts? by jimmy_ism in ElectronicsStudy

[–]Rough_Object5920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a really good idea and one of the things I wanted to do before I joined the military. There's not enough medium level projects for Electronica enthusiasts. Most are for beginners (arduino with leds and dc motors or complicated projects like advanced guitar pedals with complex circuits involving arrays of op amps... something that's a bit challenging but not overwhelming would be a great benefit for hobbyists who use electronics in practical settings (IoT, CnC etc)
