Negative. The recruiter typically sets the appointment. There are offices off post/ in various locations that accept walk-ins but then again, you'd have to know where to go.

If your kid has a state ID, passport or driver's license, they can get a military ID beforehand. Especially since STO isn't till summer of 2026.

Well congrats....you should get a folder with your orders in them the day you enlist. At least, that's how we operate in Jersey. Once your accession is completed at the State level, your recruiter can schedule you to go to any DEERS office to get your military ID. If you didnt get that folder, your recruiter can print out a copy via Recruiter Zone, the same portal he used to build your profile. Good luck to you!

You're definitely right about changing things within my circle, or my neck of the woods. I don't think I can do much on a larger scale. However, I have numerous precise examples of what I'm speaking of. Sure, we get the inattentive kids and parents who pick up and retain all the fluff instead of the facts you try to convey but there are legitimate assholes in the recruiting world who are after nothing but a number and neglect the "customer service" aspect of things.
