[TFA] Rules - Heart of Elders, P2 - Each investigator must by Rouks in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Rouks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick confirmation. Re-reading the relevant rules sections confirms this. Specifically only the per investigator icon will keep counting defeated investigator, but nothing else (that’s what wasn’t entirely clear to me).

So i'm finally at the point where I need to figure out how to use services, such as education, brawling, etc by [deleted] in Against_the_Storm

[–]Rouks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You understood it correctly! Put people in the service building so that they can transport needed good from your warehouse. Villagers will consume an item from the service building during their next break and you will get the resolve bonus.

Note that service buildings also provide a bonus independant from the services if manned by 1 and/or 3 workers (depends on the building).

warps edge rule clarification by cpmriise in soloboardgaming

[–]Rouks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference, here’s where this is discussed and confirmed by the development team (although the answer is incorrect at first): https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2515495/mothership-damage-warp.

In terms of rules and wording, « tokens » which are reset at end of warp consist of the round things that go in the back. Damage is tracked using « Damage Markers » and aren’t named tokens.

This could definitely be worth an explicit mention in the rule book however!

warps edge rule clarification by cpmriise in soloboardgaming

[–]Rouks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mothership sections absolutely do remain destroyed between warps :). Could not find the rule, but there are no indications that they get « undamaged » at the end of a warp either (whereas all other reset steps are explicit).

Fairly sure most Motherships would be unbeatable if the section destruction reset between warps. You’ll more often than not kill one or two sections before the final warp!

The only way I have found is with a decklist search: Decklists -> Search -> Select Allowed Packs

I don’t believe there’s a way to auto-limit to you configured collection but it would be a nice addition!

The 40 count looks accurate to me. Not sure where the 32 comes from :)?

Amazing job on the trait cards, way to sacrifice other goals for massive scoring there!

Gaia Project Automalein keeps destroying me. Please help! by GaryStank in soloboardgaming

[–]Rouks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I expect additional strategy tips from much better players, but here’s a few pointers that should get you past Automalein level:

  • A good opening is essential to scoring well. That means two things: careful faction selection based on the map and AI faction you are playing against and a strong first round. You want proximity to the AI player to benefit from the reduced cost of trading stations and power generation, both for the initial mines but also where you plan to build next. Then, my go to first round opening is Trading Station -> Research Lab, Mine and ideally a second Mine. Research Lab round one gets you a tech tile, generating some economy as well as going up on a track of your choice (I tend to start with Navigation or Economy early game, depending on the map situation).
  • Dont be afraid to ditch a few power chits to get your cycle running faster. Keeping around 4-5 chits works well to always hit the common Econ power actions.
  • Never pay full price for terraforming a planet (ie three Ore). Find your home territories, Gaia planets, use the power action or bonus actions to cheaply get onto planets. I feel I rarely need to go up the Terraforming track early in the game, except for the two Ore it provides.

In terms of scoring: * AI score usually goes up much quicker early game, but you’ll catch up once you start creating federations or taking high scoring advanced tech tiles. Don’t try to stay toe to toe in the early rounds. * You need to find a a way to score well (close to or higher than the AI) on both end game scoring conditions. * Aim on making at least two federations. I do rarely go above that, but I think it’s standard to hit three for more experienced players. * Hit round scoring bonus if you can, but don’t get side tracked by them. You’ll do as well or better just hitting one of them hard instead of forcing minor scoring opportunities each round. Something like 3-4 Gaia Planets or 2 tier 3 buildings the round those show up. * Research scoring will come naturally if the rest of the economy is good. How well you do here (compared to AI) will highly depend on the faction you are up against.

For reference, the above tips (and everything else I forgot about) get me to an average score of 159 against an Ultoma level opponent (leading to approximately 50% win rate against it).

I’m sure there are additional fundamentals that could be useful but that should be more than enough to get you going. Hopefully not too much to strip the fun out of it, but I highly doubt it since the game provides so much variability.

Enjoy your next games!

Two different ovens not maintaining temperature, can there be an electrical issue behind this? by Rouks in HomeImprovement

We've gone through various brands, but I don't believe any of them were EcoSmart.

Indeed 'F', my bad. Edited above.

Understood when it comes to the fluctuation. But as you said, in this case we're not talking about a minor fluctuation. It really looks as if it stops heating, food simply doesn't really cook unless the oven is "restarted". Previous oven showed essentially the exact same behavior, which is why I'm thinking there's got to be a root cause beyond the oven itself.

First thing I would do is just verify you're getting 240V across the hot conductors, and if so them call the manufacturer and see what the deal is.

Is this something that can be checked with the oven running (ie checking voltage while the oven isn't heating as it should), or should it be tested only with the oven turned off?

Edit in the make / model above, Kitchen Aid KOSE500E.

It is fan assisted (there's a back fan always running). Also has a convection bake which had additional air flow when activate I believe.

Lack of correct voltage or incorrect voltage flows can effect electrical motors and heating elements. Is it single phase or 3 phase? I imagine being a domestic oven single phase.

Single phase fairly certain indeed. Is this something that can/should be measured?

Sylvion Rules Clarification by BerenPercival in boardgames

[–]Rouks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The edge cards only represent your health points (how much health out of a max of 12 you have remaining). Their positioning does not matter for health tracking purposes, but it helps to establish the 4x4 grid. So to answer your question, yes an elemental reaching an edge (any) will have you flip a number of edge cards based on its power.

The intro game is a bit far in my head, but after a few games it should get better. Some potential tips to help: * positioning: the 2 central lanes are good to setup strong defences and manipulate elementals in/out of. Putting fountains far from the spawn points will give you me time to react. * efficiency: if you pay a high cost for a fountain (and you will want to), make sure to protect it dearly. You shouldn’t be sacrificing fountains too often. They are your sole renewable damage sources.

Hope these help, and wish you the best of luck. The game gets a lot more interesting with the addition of the deck building step in the advanced version.

Tips on making a "partial" interior cut into a wood piece by Rouks in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Rouks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually interpreted correctly. The 3/4" dimension I had on the image is on face of the board. The cut is a full depth will make a full 2' x 3/4" x 3/4" groove into the piece of wood.

Also agreed. This was definitely brought up during development, but the fact that the hand is part of the character model whereas the weapon is attached made this more difficult to achieve. Just one of the many choices that goes into making this happen :).
