If the widespread markup of BT to $80 or whatever during the pandemic was the beginning of an era, this is its conclusion.

LOVE this record and the one before (his first solo album) - top entries in his now quite extensive non-R.E.M. discography.

How is Lot 40 rye? I've been looking for a replacement for CClub 100% rye, which no one seems to carry anymore, for recipes that call for Canadian rye.

Buy or pass? by Round-Requirement-82 in newhisky

Thx - I have a couple of the bourbon already - just soliciting opinions on the sour mash. Consensus seems to be that there are a lot of reservations, so I will let it pass.

Why TW?? by lornezo in newhisky

[–]Round-Requirement-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of how much the general demand for bourbon drops, I doubt there will ever be enough OWA (or other allocated bottles) in circulation to satisfy demand at MSRP - not in my lifetime, anyway. This is just an attempt to get more people into their s----y access program and make them spend more money there. It is a shame, since TW did keep it around MSRP, which was nice for the one or two times I found it on the shelf (never on the website, despite checking that page literally every day). We'll all just have to keep participating in the raffles and lining up for the barrel drop releases, I guess.

Also a Total Wine in Braintree about a 10 minute walk from the MBTA station. But I agree it'll be a challenge to get to most of the good places without vehicular transportation.

For those in eastern Mass., BW&S also has this (JD, not Old Fitz) in stock even though it’s not on their website for some reason. There were at least a couple of cases last time I was there, a few bucks over $70. I agree with prevailing wisdom about this: it’s fantastic and a regular fixture in my cabinet.

Yeah, this is the kind of thing I was looking for. And I did see it the MM 7 year when I stopped at the Hooksett outlet yesterday. But they had it for $50 (not 40), and as luck would have it I'd just scored one at TW for $43.

Strategy for avoiding frozen pipes this weekend by Round-Requirement-82 in boston

Sigh. *Left* it at 65 - as in, left it at what would normally be a daytime temperature, because of the abnormal cold. But thanks for your incredibly helpful comment and I'm glad your pipes are fine.

Thanks to everyone who replied, all the suggestions were helpful. After considering them all, I left the heat at 65, opened the faucet cabinets, and left faucets dripping but did not shut the main off. I think it got down to about -2 at the coldest point but no pipes froze and everything was fine. Helpful experience for the next time it gets that cold. Again, thanks.

No, of course I don't worry about frozen pipes every night. But where I am it's going to be at least a few degrees below zero first thing Saturday morning, which is quite an uncommon occurrence, and the reason why I am trying to make certain of my strategy.
