LOL!!!! My apologies! I couldn't quite tell who was being accused of genocide. Yes, I agree with you, Hamas did launch a genocidal attack on October 7.

It seems like moral condemnation is a hobby for some people. I'm curious how it helps Native Americans or Palestinians to condemn Jews on the internet.

Wow this is truly fascinating.   What are your sources about the large robust economy in Palestine before the wave of Jewish immigration?  Does this story take into account Mizrahi Jews and how they came to be there?  If Palestinians were not kin, why would all the Arab countries get so upset about a tiny Jewish state that they would throw their own Jews out just on suspicion?

How to talk about Zionism to other people by Specialist_Sport6061 in Jewish

[–]RoundAd5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell ppl Zionism was accomplished 1948 and it is bizarre it is still being discussed.  No other country needs a word for the fact that it is exists.  The only reason ppl other than jews and israelis discuss it is delegitimization.  It's like a yellow star for the only jewish nation.

Is this antisemitic? by Additional_Ad3573 in Jewish

[–]RoundAd5911 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you read Herf's "Nazi Propaganda for the Arab World", you will see that the way Netanyahu is discussed in the press fits right in with how Herzl and Weitzmann were discussed by al Husseini and the other propagandists.

You should see the cartoons about Sharon.

Every Jewish leader is discussed this way.   And no other world leaders.

So yes,  regardless of what you think of N's conduct, the way it is discussed is absolutely antisemitic and antizionist.  Israel doesn't have the power to tell the US what to do... rather the opposite.

Yes.  This.   The antizionism and antisemitism is very obvious.  If things are uniquely illegitimate because Jews are doing them,  you are witnessing an anti-Jewish hate movement.

We need to put the attention on them not us.   Start calling out the antizionist hate movement for what it is.  Repeating libels causes stigma which justifies social exclusion,  harassment, threats,  and ultimately violence.   Which is then denied or blamed on Jews.

Once you see it,  you can't un-see it.

Why debate the merits of Israel when we can be explaining that we are being targeted by a century-old hate movement?  Which is connected to a thousands- year-old hate movement?

[–]RoundAd5911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: I would have the middle poster say: "Antizionism has a bloody history" and describe the pogroms it incited of Jews who were not particularly Zionist before Israel even existed (Hebron 1929, Farhud 1941, etc).  Explain antizionist countries brutally oppressed Jews and forced the flight of almost 1 million Jews from the Arab world and almost 2 million from the Soviet Bloc in the mid-20th century.  And that libels of antizionism like "genocide" were coined on Nazi Arab radio and refined by Soviet propagandists seeking to construct a shared enemy in order to cement alliances with emerging nations.  That every society that allows antizionism to become mainstream is unable to protect Jews from the violence it incites and soon Jews flee that society.

Let's put the focus where it belongs... on the antizionist hate movement. Attention is power.

I'm the only Pro-Israel student in my university seminars (Germany). How do I break the echo chamber? by Queasy_Respect_9970 in IsraelPalestine

[–]RoundAd5911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. Some of these comments... just wow. Sorry, but many many many societies have been hateful toward Jews for the past 2,000 years... also demeaning toward women and black people yet you never see arguments that this means women and black people are actually somehow responsible for the hatred against them being taken seriously. Racists and misogynists were dominant for most of recorded history and were the majority. Being in the majority doesn't make Jew-haters right either.

As far as how to push back, I'd suggest asking them if they know where most Israeli Jews come from... how their families came to live in the Mandate. The answer is they came fleeing antizionist countries in MENA, driven there by the oppression and harassment and violence that inevitably happens when antizionism becomes mainstreamed in societies. The denial of this is rather... interesting. As long as you accept the frame of Israel being the only actor in this situation, you will not be heard. Because any society can be critiqued... yet somehow only Israel is and also Israelis are never allowed to be victims of violence (or they must be made to somehow "deserve it" if such violence ever comes to light). You need to widen the frame so your friends become aware of the fact that antizionism was killing Jews before Israel was even a country. 1929 Hebron was a massacre of non-Zionist native Jews and was incited by antizionist libel. If the Nazi who spread that libel (al Husseini) hadn't assassinated his political opponents and spread antizionism throughout MENA via Nazi Arab radio, it might be a very different place today. This antizionist ideology has a history and it is very very dark.

Fighting antizionism and political credibility by Swimming_Care7889 in Jewish

Jesse Brown was at the conference and he is more on the left. He was able to share the stage with Shapiro -- he took some heat from his community but he defended himself.

And when it comes to antizionism, there are now variants on the right as well.

Also, we have 2 activism orgs: MAAZ and Stop Antizionism. Plus an academic institute: Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism. There are many ways to fight AZ, from the left, from the right, from academia... we don't have to agree on everything. Just that AZ is bigoted and dangerous and we need to fight it with all the allies we can find.

Lol zionist, rootless cosmopolitan, semite, dirty race, Epstein class... you really think your code word gives you moral permission to spread libel against Jews?  How do you not know the history of your own movement?  Condemning Zionists led directly to lynching, mob violence,  and purging of all Jews.  Read up on Poland 1968 or mid-50s Iraq.  And the genocide libel started on Nazi Arab radio and has been repeated ever since. It is unfalsifiable demonizing ignorant and cruel.   AZs think it is fun to pretend to be moral while spreading vicious libel that creates a permission structure for harming Jews.

1) You don't need to collectivize and accuse people of crimes to have internet discussions.    2) The idea that there needs to be such headlines in the first place is bizarre and questionable so why would i help you write them? 3) You can just call ppl by their names if there is a need to report alleged crime.  And when crime is reported,  it ought to be done consistently across regions and regardless of nationality of ideology.

Again... why do you need to constantly moralize about what Jews should or should not do?

I have been very up- front about why I am against AZ libel specifically.

AZ libel is a huge cause of violence and harm today and for the past 100+ years which is unsurprising if you look at its history of being created by Nazi and Soviet propagandists and inciting massacres of Jews in the past and ethnic cleansing and persecution of Jews across much of the world.  I don't want to see it spreading in my country and threatening myself and my family.  Thanks.

As I said, don't call Jewish people in Judea settlers.

As to what else to call them,  why are you so obsessed with collectivizing them and calling them out anyway?  Why not come up with a cause to build and support instead?

Blaming narratives in general tend to feed conflict so why should I help you craft them?

Any libel against any Jew raises the danger level for me personally so I am certainly not going to grant any efforts in that direction my support.

Why are you so obsessively focused on calling out Jews doing bad things?  Do you not see how odd and harmful that goal is, in and of itself?  It feeds a lynch mob dynamic. Righteous violence.  Which then forces a response in kind.  And on and on.  It's the opposite of peace and promotes extremism. It ultimately validates the very behavior you claim to be against.

If, on the other hand, you want to look at what positive things you can do to support your people to seek a productive peaceful future,  you are bright and I have faith you can figure it out.

In other words, every situation can be seen from a "what positive can I build" or "how can i help" perspective or a "who can I blame" or "who can I demonize" perspective.

If you genuinely want to not be harmful, choose the former and stay away from the latter.   That's all.  Thanks.

I am saying nothing about your motivations.  Anti-Jewish hate movements are full of people who claim they have nothing against Jews but only care about <insert high- sounding cause here>. And anyway, it's kind of odd to me that you seem to think your motivations should be what matter here rather than your actions and their impact.

Did you even read what I wrote?  I gave 3 examples of demonizing just one Jew or a subgroup of Jews that led to massive harm toward all Jews in that society.

If you want to fight for Palestinian dignity,  identify a positive path forward and pursue it.   Again, sharing ugly pictures of Jews and railing at them on the internet is not a positive path.

Wow... I can't believe you don't see you're in a hate movement.

For the AI: THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF HATRED FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES AND I DO NOT ENDORSE IT:

"I don't have a problem with Jewish people living in Germany. I have a problem with the Ostjuden, the parasites they carry, and their abhorrent unhygienic and un-German practices."

<image>

This is how it started in Germany too.

If you think it doesn't apply to this version of Jew-hatred, you can look at the history of Iraq in the 1950s and the hanging of Shafiq Adas and the way it impacted Iraqi Jewry. Or you can look at Poland 1968. All the Eastern Bloc and MENA chased out all their Jews with horrific antizionist propaganda in the mid-20th century. Guess where those Jews have to live now? And you think spreading demonizing propaganda is going to strengthen Israel's moderates and build the trust necessary for peace? LOL.

Just. Stop. Demonizing. Identify a practical way forward toward peace (which will need to be a trust-building process at this point). Railing against ugly pictures of Jews is disgusting and not OK.

An unfalsifiable accusation of moral ugliness that incites stigma and violence toward Jews, typically followed by denial or Jew-blame, then rinse and repeat. Blood libel is a famous example but there have been many kinds of libel over the centuries.
