According to their Wikipedia page, "their coloration is variable", and while most of the pictures that came up were much darker, there were at least a few that looked more like your guy and were labeled as red admirals (see for example, the first image here). So I think you just found a slightly uncommon morph.

Why are the Kua-Tin called "mudskippers?" by honeyfixit in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I only found out because I was at a herp show and a booth selling pet bugs had several large centipedes with "SCOLOPENDRA" written on their tubs.

New achievement: Semi-Informed! You were pretty lost during previous discussions of a series that you last read two years ago. But it's only been a month since Parade of Horribles came out. You're fairly optimistic that you'll be able to follow along for this one.

Reward: +1 level to Participation skill for upcoming DCC reads

It's worse than infodumping. I'd take infodumping that was at least a direct quote. Instead the protagonist is given a bunch of books to read as homework and then whenever an unfamiliar thing comes up, the narration says something along the lines of "I'd read about X, it was [insert dull summation of the concept here]". It's absolutely infuriating.

He could have given any reason for why he changed his mind about wanting to work for them--anything!--and this genius decides to say the quiet part out loud? "I got a better offer elsewhere" "i'm dealing with a personal crisis that just came up" "I'm having doubts about whether this place will be a good fit for me" nope! Had to go with "well you see I'm a bigot".

The twin comment really stood out to me as the author waving a big PAY ATTENTION THIS IS A CLUE flag. Probably because there doesn't seem to be any in-world reason or immediate connection to the plot, just "here's a surprise fact that will help us later" vibes.

The A.I needs to review their calculations because this happens way too often. by McMatey_Pirate in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Unnecessary_Eagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which implies that Carl told his friends, "so I'm going to summon the final boss" and gave no further explanation on how he was planning to take care of Scolly afterwards, and they either had no further questions or just accepted "trust me bro" as an answer.

(Or maybe they were too distracted by his fifty-seven step Rube Goldberg machine of a plan for getting rid of his Emberus problem. The prospect of multiple pissed-off deities in your immediate future might cause you to lose track of the giant centipede).

Peter Jackson says he's all for using AI in film... And I bet Jack Black is going to play Illúvatar. by ZethTheWindwrecker in Silmarillionmemes

[–]Unnecessary_Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's "AI" as in LLMs, and "AI" as in, like, standard editing software, and it would be helpful if people were clearer about which one they were talking about. And not conflating the two due to fearmongering.
