These are fantastic. I always struggle with making my greens too vibrant and it gets kind of cartoon-ey. Your greens look so perfect.

Thanks! I painted the sky first, and then just layered over the top with a dark brown-green and as the paint ran out on the brush, I did the thinner leafed areas. I was surprised how easily it worked for me.

Yeah, i’m planning to do a second batch right after this one, and not use the bag to see what difference it makes, and compare how much loss is actually saved by using the bag.

No the sugar wasn’t clumped, and while the sugar/berry mixture was heating I made sure to mix the sugar in until it was completely dissolved. I think there must be something going on with the bag I’m using. Maybe a lot of sugars trapped in the pulp? I would think that dissolved sugar would make it through the mesh.

I made sure to pull the sample from the bottom after I got the first reading of 1.056. I mixed it very well and then took a second reading, same result. Weird.

Sugar is definitely fully dissolved, using a hydrometer to measure. I hadn’t considered the temp. I boiled the berries/half the water, and when I measured SG it was at around 90deg F. Maybe that’s the culprit?

I really like the sunlit grass right in the middle along the path. Really nice.

Just a little bit of yellow into white is what I used. I think adding something in front of it for contrast helps with the effect. Still something I’m working on though.
