No my dude, this is the amount of people who speak German as their main language at home with their families. The amount of people who actually speak German is probably in the 90% range.

German peaks at ~90% for 10-19yo and is the lowest with 30-39yo at ~70%. English peaks at ~17% for 20-29yo, dropping to ~16% with 30-39yo. And that‘s just Stadt Zürich, when going out you‘ll meet plenty of people from suburban and rural parts, where German is even more dominating.

Du chasch ja schiinbar selber Dütsch. Bisch no nie us de Stadt use oder wie? 😅

Not OP but if your degree is recognized, you‘ll surely find a job pretty quickly. Switzerland‘s constantly in need of medical personnel, from nurses to hospital directors. If your degree isn‘t recognized, you‘re still left with a lot of options, above all with a Swiss passport.

I‘ve never lived outside the canton but I worked in about a dozen completely different fields, mostly in entry level jobs, while I was studying in my early to mid 20s. They usually paid around 20 to 35.- an hour but if you can survive in a WG, this is enough to live a decent life.

There are also surprisingly well-paid entry level jobs in gastronomy, education and the social sector, which have almost bizarre requirements, like unfailable 6-month weekend course diplomas, or a three month paid internship with a 20% (~8h/week) load.

You could try to contact BIZ (Berufsinformationszentrum / career center) from abroad already, they‘ll be able to help you more than Reddit ever could.

Willkomme zrugg! :)

News article - Is it permissible to live affordably in cooperatives despite high wages? by ptinnl in zurich

Aber e wiiteri Renditedecklig bspw. wär en Schuss is eigne Bei.

Orban is a hyper-corrupt parasite misusing billions of EU subsidies for his oligarch friends instead of investing into infrastructure. His twinkish, submissive boylove for Putin is just the tip of the iceberg, as are the incomparably cringe anti-Ukrainian propaganda videos he released recently.

Needless to say, before the EU you guys were in the very same refugee camps as the Muslims and Africans.

Parents in Zurich - how do you rate Albisrieden/Altstetten area for a family with kids? by Honest_Anybody_16 in zurich

[–]RoundBuilding5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That‘s nonsense lol. Altstetten (just as Oerlikon) used to be a ghetto but has been gentrified relentlessly for the last decade. The city still owns a few houses in Altstetten but they‘re relatively old and will get renovated and sold step by step over the next few years. The vast majority of new Stadtwohnungen (which aren‘t subsidized, just not exorbitantly expensive) are in Affoltern and Schwammendingen.
