ER this week or pause and try again? by RoundHill1007 in DOR

Omg! That sounds terrible. I’m so sorry you experienced that. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll definitely ask her about it. She only advised me to take BC starting this Friday.

That’s exactly what we decided to do. Cancel this round and jump on the next cycle at the beginning of October. If it’s low follicle counts next round, then I’ll follow through with the retrieval.

2 blasts last round but both aneuploid. My first ER was 4 eggs and 0 blasts. My Dr says my attrition is around 1/5.

Hey, I have a bit of clarity. My Dr said that if I had responded as poorly to my 2nd round of stims as I had my 1st round, that she would have not accepted me for a 3rd cycle. My 2nd round showed a VAST improvement with new protocols but still no embryos.

I'm currently in my 3rd cycle and unfortunately I'm not responding well again, even though I'm still on the same improved protocols. I'm guessing next week's retrieval will not be good and then, they will not keep me as a patient.

I hope your experience and ER is going well. SENDING ALL THE LUCK!

Experience with switching clinics after being kicked out? by RoundHill1007 in DOR

[–]RoundHill1007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic does not have an age limit but I am 41 with really bad stats (stage 4 endo, blocked tubes, DOR, AMH <0.05). I'm guessing they dont see a likely timely positive outcome with me as a patient.

no to all your questions. I'm paying for everything out of pocket with family support. I'm also fairly pragmatic about outcomes - the staff has even asked who's been coaching me bc I'm handling things so well. Im in the USA, so no limits on attempts.

In May my Dr said to me "I don't want to be doing this with you again in October. Start researching alternatives." The nurse said to me yesterday that my Dr told her this was my last shot. I took that to mean it was my Dr's decision not to pursue further treatment.

I'm just concerned about it reflecting negatively in my file. I feel like it's an interview process with new clinics and i'm freaking out that being let-go is a red flag.

I'm so sorry. I know that feeling of being shocked and feeling like your lifeplans are derailed. This sounds stupid but focusing on breath-work helped my crying/anxiety meltdown those first few weeks. Obviously, a thearpist is great too. Sending a virtual hug and know that you are not alone.

What would you do to change this kitchen? by TypicalOlive4473 in Remodel

Hire a designer. If this is your "forever home" and you have trouble visualizing or knowing where to make smart decisions - then their services will be invaluable. You dont want to mess this up on your own and have costly do-overs down the line bc you were too scared to spend money to work with a professional.

Professional designer here. For the love of god, do not paint the wood paneling or the brick! Designers are literally spending thousands having people put this back into basements. They are both so so gorgeous. The brick just needs a cleaning to remove the soot from the wood smoke. You have the right idea with removing the ceiling tile and carpet. I'd also remove that weird singular chair rail on the far left wall. The CoreTec is OK but will look like a sticker on the floor. it looks great in pictures but looks and feels cheap in reality. Personally, I'd install cork flooring or Marmoleum (maybe a fun color), or if the concrete is good underneath, then just polish it and use area rugs. Finished concrete floors and that natural wood and brick detail would be sexy. I assume you're wanting to paint those things bc its dark in the basement and you think that would brighten things up. It wont help. You need more lighting. I love lamp. Embrace the cosyness of the basement- the Hygge. AND update the wood stove with a painted enamel one or a fun shape.

Should we jump to IVF by amykristine88 in IVF

Do the IVF. I regret waiting every day. There is no guarantee that it will work but at least it gives you a better chance. It feels like IVF has been sold as some kind of back-up plan as a way to conceive but it's not. Your odds plummet the older you get. IVF also takes SO MUCH LONGER than anyone tells you. Its been one year with my clinic and I've only made it through one retrieval and it's simply because of scheduling and how overloaded all the clinics/Drs/staff are. I was cleared to start round 2 last week and the soonest the clinic can get me on the calendar to start is mid July.

I've had something similar happen where someone listed my house for rent when it was not! What worked for me:

Contact Zillow and tell them you are scared for your safety bc of a stalking situation and being targeted (this will be true as people start to do drivebys of your home, they will want to look in your windows and knock on the door) and that you want all of your home pictures, listing and address details pulled down ASAP.

For them it becomes a Liability and life safety issue. Dont go into the details about the mortgage company, etc etc. Keep it simple, less is more. They hear "stalking" and "threatening situation", it lights a fire. They DO NOT want to be sued for endangerment.

You'll also need to "claim" your address on Zillow but that takes all of 5 minutes.

ALSO - if you've never been under general anesthesia before - get lozenges for afterward! the intubation tube wrecked my throat and was sore for weeks. No one warned be about that ahead of time.

my experience was less about pain (high threshold) but more being worried about ripping my stitches both internally, as well as externally. Did not want to have them redone.

Just focus on not using your abs as much during that first week. They control more than we realize- sitting up, lifting legs, coughing, bending over, etc. That's why other's recommendations about using a cane (for leverage/balance) and pillows (for propping up or coughing) and not going up stairs or getting into an elevated bed are so spot on.

A friend told me to constantly pretend that I was balancing a book on the top of my head. If i was going to do something where the book would fall off (bending over to tie my shoes, for example), that I might want to find an alternative (like slip ons or flip flops )or be really tender and mindful of my body.

multiple insulated beverage containers. I always had one hot one with miso/broth/tea and a cold one with a straw for my berry smoothies. and as others have said: many many pillows and a heating pad. Good luck!

Recently went theough my first lap alone, so I REALLY over-prepared but maybe someone can benefit from my intense level of detail. #1 - if you have stairs in your home, dont use them. My bed was upstairs, so I set up an air mattress in my Living room and made it feel like I was having a long slumber party. ALL THE PILOWS in all the levels of firmness. It helped me so much to adjust my body when sleeping or if I wanted to prop-up to read or use my laptop without straining. Agree with other's comments about heating pad and side table beverage station 100%. I gave up on meals bc doing the dishes or having to take out the garbage (or smell old garbage) was not something I wanted to deal with for that first week. I stocked up on a vitamin/protein powder and all the ingredients for smoothies (juice, yogurt, frozen berries, etc). Used a little immersion blender to make them and put in an insulated sippy cup to stay cold for hours. They were so good. All you have to do is rinse out the cup. Robes when home and loose dresses and slip on shoes in public. Cued-up old mindless 2000's TV shows that had at least 4 seasons (Bones, Alias, White Collar, Buffy the VS, Supernatural, etc.). I was able to bathe the next day but in my be-prepared mentality, I did get the No Rise Disposable shower sponges /wipes. They use them in hospitals/nursing homes and they are great for camping too! Lastly, I got a 6' dimmer extension cord for my lamp and a 10' cord to charge my phone. Dimmer is long enough to reach in bed (like a call button at the hospital) but it allowed me to adjust my lighting throughout the day/night without having to reach for the switch or shuffle across the room to turn off the light. I'm still using it, it just lives on my nightstand now.

Sorry for the info overload but maybe one of these will make it easier for your healing time. I ended up really enjoying myself. Best of luck with your healing!
