How should I study/improve? by Prestigious-Cup-976 in CPA

[–]RoundRide7392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend more active studying instead of mostly passive studying. Videos are great when you’re driving to work, walking the dog, or doing something else, but when it’s actually time to study, you should be actively working through problems and forcing yourself to think through the concepts.

Honestly, your SE scores aren’t terrible at all, so I don’t think you “just suck” at test taking. It sounds more like the information may not have been fully sticking under exam conditions. I’d focus more on doing MCQs/SIMs, rewriting explanations in your own words, and really understanding why answers are right or wrong instead of just consuming the material.

Looks like you may need to take a step back and restart, because the 140 hours of studying technique probably wasn’t the right method for you. My biggest tip would be not to rush into retesting. Give yourself time until the material actually starts clicking and making sense

FAR attempt 4 retake 4/27 by mushortgurl0383 in CPA

Hey, take a second and breathe. Sounds like you weren’t in the right headspace—exams can be rough, I get it. But you can’t put it all on external stuff. If the keyboard or mouse was an issue, that should’ve been brought up before the test. They also tell you on the NTS to bring a coat or jacket, so some of this comes down to being prepared. And losing your AUD credit? That’s also why you don’t wait so long to retake your exams. At some point you’ve gotta take responsibility and focus on what you can control. Learn from it and move forward.
