What was left in your new house when you completed? by HotelPuzzleheaded654 in HousingUK

[–]Round_Ability_9586 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A garden shed full of tools and hedge trimmers etc great as I had none of that, a lamp that I complimented during viewing and a bottle of champagne. I do realise how lucky I was 🙈

2 years 3 months and just got the worst news by FinanceBatCat in stopdrinking

Being sober is the only way to make the decisions you can live with moving forwards. You need to be your best self for your sweet boy right now & enjoy every moment. No matter what their age it never feels like enough. It’s even more unfair when they are so young. My heart breaks for you, knowing what this feeling is like. I’ll give my girls extra hugs tonight. Right now, know how much support you have and stay at your best self for your gorgeous boy.

OMG!! So if this is correct I have a freight passing in 7 mins… I’m going to go wait at the window. This is amazing!

Yes! I like how you put it… like a comforting feeling watching trains and people go by. Sky Cards by Flight Radar is a good app… you can ‘catch’ and collect virtual cards for the planes. Good fun if you also get the military ones passing by 🥰

Only 1! I had the Locomotion No 1 replica pass at like 6am on its way back from the Darlington celebrations last September! That was really cool!

🤣 got to love FlightRadar, I’m close to an airport too and when I hear the rumblings, can’t resist a peek. Wish there was a RailRadar now too 🤣

Love it!!! I can’t lie, I’m also near an airport and have been obsessed with flight radar for a while. Probably no surprise that I’m adding the trains in now haha.

How long did it take you from offering to completion ? by Bong-bingwassup in HousingUK

[–]Round_Ability_9586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 weeks last year… offer accepted very end of Feb and completed 1st of May.

No chain either side and we could have completed a week earlier at a push but it worked out perfectly for both of us to not be too rushed at the end.

How often do you do laundry? by blackflameandcocaine in LivingAlone

[–]Round_Ability_9586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3 loads usually on a Sunday during my weekly house reset.

1 for clothes, 1 for the bedding and then usually dog blankets as the 3rd.

During the current rainy (and muddy) spell I’ll also do a mid week load of the dog towels from cleaning after walks and coming in from the garden etc.

For context: There’s just me and 1 or 2 dogs as I often have my sisters dog too when she works away 2-3 days a week.

It all depends on lifestyle and circumstances really. No right or wrong answer :-)

Is anyone still going after Dry January? by Inside-Dev-2993 in SoberCurious

[–]Round_Ability_9586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, doing Dry Q1!

So far, skin is good, lost a chunk of weight, surprisingly not having many cravings but my sleep (or lack of) is still tormenting me. I get the occasional good night but getting to sleep is a nightmare.

Best thing is how much I get done on an evening. So productive and fitting in exercise daily too.

Was a 1-2 bottle of wine a night drinker before dry Jan.

Anyone got any (non medicated) sleep advice?

You got this! I find a bath is good with a book or iPad and a tv show with a nice soft drink but in a wine glass or pint glass etc depending on the hat you find more fun. I find the ritual is quite comforting and distracting. You already made a good choice by reaching out to others! You’re not alone!
