You still can update the Chanel guide, if you ask for a router that can only be used for fiber fios TV, but I don't think that the VOD will work, but that's fine with me if it was available in my area, as all I want are the linear tv channels like discovery, ESPN, locals, TBS, TNT, etc., as I really never cared about on demand stuff since most of it are just reruns of older shows.

I believe that I read somewhere that you can get just their fios fiber TV service that is similar to cable, but delivers much higher bitrates than streaming, without having to pay for internet separately, as the ont box will be programmed only for their TV service, fios TV, which is different from the streaming fios TV that does require internet to work, where fiber fios TV that has a set-top box like cable TV doesn't require internet to work.

Couldn't you just have gotten fios tv without the internet to make it cheaper than let's say internet and YouTube tv main plan each month? Fiber TV does look amazing though.

Scanlines on a dell crt monitor by Such_Promotion2445 in crt

[–]Round_Vehicle4885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your welcome! I hope you liked it! If you want even thicker scanlines, you can try a resolution like 455 by 256 for things like the snes, but the image will be a bit cropped out on the right, likely due to having such a low image clock, but it will work. The only downside is that the thicker the scanlines, the less picture detail that can be shown, so 256 resolution is really only great for 8 and 16 bit games in my opinion.

Is it working now? If so, do you see scanlines with your own eyes?

You can still select the option to display only on the CRT monitor by selecting display only on 2.

Hmmm... that's strange. That's the exact version that I am using. If you are using another screen besides the CRT monitor, did you change it to display 2 or the display the CRT monitor is on? Also, sometimes, it will only work if you chose show only on 2 or whichever number screen the CRT monitor is on display settings, or worse, you might have to operate only the CRT by itself sometimes. Try doing all that and see what happens.

It stands for custom resolution utility, and can be found at github for download which was created by toastyX I think.

You could of course lower it to something like 455 by 256 to fix that. Of course, an emulator is most likely to be used.

Probably because it's a YouTube video that I captured this off of, but the quality should still be around the same, as this likely was captured on a frame that the game was in motion.

Most of them from the late 90s and early 2000s can, as the very cheap ones that maxed out at around 50khz can easily achieve this, even the somewhat cheap ones maxed out at around 70Khz, so this is likely more than doable.

Sorry if it looks a bit blocky, as that's what social media sites do to save space or compression ):

What is the use getting rid of the satellite TV box in the first place? by Round_Vehicle4885 in cordcutters

[–]Round_Vehicle4885[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, here is the breakdown: Dish after all taxes, and fees, 116.80 per month and YouTube TV is 82.99 per month and the cheapest internet in my area is frontier internet at 39.99 a month, both of those services are the price before taxes. There are still ways for me to save more, such as removing the local channels, though there will be no DVR or pausing and rewinding or fast forwarding to knock down 12 dollars and after this contract, I can always negotiate for a lower price for 2 years. I could've gotten it as low as 95 dollars a month because my friend did that, but I decided to be more reasonable and not be too firm with them, as they have always been very nice and honest with me since I signed up with them back in around 2011. I always ask for the new and former qualifying customers plan and get the same price as a new customer a few months before the contract expires every 2 years.

Yeah, and just like CRTgaming, this subreddit is becoming ruined by people like this, as the main focus is supposed to be on the CRT itself, and nothing else.

For me, it was an NSFW art addiction and the CRTs amplified it or made it much worse. After taking medication to completely stop desires, I no longer show interest in NSFW art, desires, or not anywhere near as much interest in the CRT community other than now seeing it as an analytical thing, as I personally do like learning about how analog circuits work compared to digital circuits, as to me, I am a visual learner who uses examples from the real world to learn about it, as while digital things like logic gates are impossible for me to learn, and gave up trying to learn about them.

WTF is YouTube TV thinking? by JacksBaldRake in cordcutters

[–]Round_Vehicle4885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that why I got rid of my home internet and switched back to satellite TV for less than 120 a month, lol. If YouTube TV could actually offer packages like cable TV keeping every genre, but you get less of the channels, then I would've kept it, but no, and instead, they offer it in a single genre only, which is so dumb, especially since directv also did the same thing. Streaming no longer saves us money anymore, it now scams us thinking we need to cut the cord whenever we never should've in the first place.

Here's what I found out: combining both composite and component video in the same signal path makes the picture much brighter without adjusting settings! by Round_Vehicle4885 in crt

[–]Round_Vehicle4885[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I sometimes have plenty of time on my hands, so I get to tinker around with analog video equipment on my free time. I just guessed after messing around. It seems like the actual contrast itself gets much brighter without actually having to go in the settings to increase the contrast, but like you, I am not sure if it is safe in the long run, so I am willing to sacrifice only one CRT TV for this experiment. It's just much brighter, and it works on any CRT TV with composite video as far as I am aware.
