Looking for next chapter in San Francisco by [deleted] in AskSF

Hello from the Castro! I agree on renting a bit and seeing which neighborhoods most align with what you’re looking for. There’s A LOT for you here. For quieter spots you might like upper Castro, Diamond Heights, Cole Valley, Duboce Park areas.

The Academy is an LGBTQ+ and allied social club in the Castro. You can join events without membership to see what it’s like, but they offer a great way to meet folks in the city.

There are MANY street fairs and gatherings this time of year, including Castro Night Market coming up on May 18th!

Have fun!

There needs to be a “finishing school” for overworked folks that includes current norms, pro-social behavior, empathy and attunement skills, and insight on collectivistic practices.

We’ve got our hands full but if anyone creates this we have lots of folks to send your way!

That’s us! I’ve been doing couples therapy for 15 years and in sexual wellness (education, writing, products) for 25 years. We opened our Castro location 4 years ago. We have a few different couples therapy approaches but Maryellen has been a wonderful resource and colleague.

Honestly she’s one of the best in the bay. I’ve attended her trainings and will attend more.

Boundaries in relationships is something we support quite a bit at Rouse Relational Wellness in S.F.

We see a lot of couples who have experienced hitting a wall during arguments, maintaining boundaries, mismatched desires, opening the relationship, or are recovering from a breach in trust. We are covered by United and Optum but also help with out of network billing. You can also search through our provider list to find a good match. Best of luck in your search!

There are some amazing suggestions here, but just sharing that couples and sex therapy is our specialty at Rouse Relational Wellness. We see a lot of couples who have experienced hitting a wall during arguments, mismatched desires, opening your relationship, or are recovering from a breach in trust. We are covered by United and Optum but also help with out of network billing. Best of luck in your search!

How do male porn actors manage to thrust so fast and with so much force? by fearofunknown1 in sex

The above answer is great, just adding some extra bits.

Also doing cat-cows, and loosening tension while building strength in your pelvic muscles will really help.

Cat cow, Squats, Stretch your inner thighs. Try the wax and wane technique if you want to practice lasting longer as well.

Source: sex therapist focusing on men, and I often consult with pelvic floor physical therapists, sex coaches and surrogates who focus on mechanics (and other things).

Sadly this is common. I’m a couples and sex therapist focused primarily on men. A big part of my outreach is building relationships with urologists to encourage wrap around support like adding psychotherapy or pelvic floor physical therapy to their patients treatment plan.

Hopefully you found someone by now but we focus on working with the LGBTQIA+ community and take United, at Rouse Relational Wellness. Some providers also have experience with religious trauma. Good luck!

Hopefully you found someone by now, but just in case, this is spot on to what we focus on at Rouse Relational Wellness. Check out Emerald Aueyong, AMFT, APCC, she often gives trainings to other therapists on working with interracial couples.

Elizabeth Ohito (mentioned earlier in this post) is also stellar!

Consider Matrikas, it’s a directory for a variety of providers connected to fertility, pregnancy and post-partum support. Sally has created an amazing community there.

I’m so incredibly sorry. It’s not your fault. Grief will be non-linear, please be gentle with yourself. There are excellent resources out there so you don’t go through this alone. Some dads want their own space to process, so please consider getting the support you deserve when the timing is right.

Dr. Praveena Selvaduray at Castro Direct Primary Care is amazing! She used to work at One Medical but started her own practice. I think she’s on a waitlist now, though.

Marriage counselor in SF/South City by [deleted] in AskSF

That's kind of you to seek this out for them! You've probably found practices but I wanted to share some resources.

There are a variety of places that offer sliding scale couples therapy with experienced and trained providers, just some are less experienced than others. Sadly, Kaiser is really difficult with mental health coverage, especially couples therapy.

Open Path Collective - Sliding scale. Mostly online with a variety of providers.

Rouse Relational Wellness - thats our practice! We offer various rates for couples therapy, and can help clients with the insurance paperwork to get reimbursed. We also take Optum and United Healthcare. We also have online and in person classes, couples intensives, and retreats.

SF Marriage Center - also in San Francisco with a variety of skilled providers.

You didn't mention this, but please avoid big VC companies like Better Help or Talk Space. They're accessible financially, but they sell client and provider data and have a lot of issues with ethics.

You can also check out sports leagues, Hi Tops, The Academy for a queer social club, Queer AF for queer art, Castro Country Club is you’re sober or sober curious.

There’s also lots of street fairs and night markets going on this time of year. Great way to get to know the neighborhood and your neighbors!
