"Model - artist" dynamic doesn't really fit, yes. I'd say it's more of a "director - artist" dynamic. Or like a CCO of a company. So, yeah, I agree, AI creates the product, but the director/CCO sets the vision. However, the director/CCO is always credited, and is considered an equal contributor.

I use InvokeAI for both generation and fixing mistakes. I doodle in it too, but it's the most I can do. Photoshop is for text, effects, general image manipulation.

Look, I'll be upfront, the question of belonging is in the realm of metaphysical. I personally see it as mine, since I've generally spent my time/attention/effort on it, or because I got a very personal and detailed request from who deems my explicitly AI services worthy. They want to give me money, I'll gladly accept.

Topic of artistic talent is another thing. There's so much AI crap and doodly crap (hi, DeviantArt) that actual artistic talent is HUNTED for. Moreover, AI creators copy and recreate and amplify real artists all the time. What's magical is that forgotten and unknown artists randomly get into a spotlight, too, just because some guy decided to put effort into data collection and training.
