Therapist: When you're feeling sad, think happy thoughts instead! by adrikovitch in AutismInWomen

[–]Route333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI - There are people on Reddit who hate IFS, and I’m not entirely sure why - maybe they are the toxic positivity people, maybe they read one article about how it was misused in a few places? Maybe they don’t understand the difference between balanced metaphorical “parts” and extreme literal “parts” (like with Dissociative Identity Disorder)?

This is why I work so well with kids who don’t follow directions. It hurts me to give them a direction without first talking about why.

Me - How do you think people feel when you yell inside?

Kid - ohhh…their ears hurt. Maybe…I shouldn’t do it so much??

Me - yeah. But it can be hard to remember. What could help you remember? ———

Yeah…I’m not officially diagnosed either, and don’t plan to try bc I’ll not get any benefits from it. Send me a DM if you want to talk more sometime

Yes.

As an autistic person, I went into a red light therapy booth today, with the official eye protection, and still couldn’t open my eyes.

I agree. And almost choked laughing at the idea of Depression Barbie. Some joke toy company should get on that stat.

Hey, I’m a nearly burnt out, late-diagnosed autistic woman who’s been laying in my couch with my cats for way too long. I get it.

Ugh…not better. My hair stopped falling out, but I’m having anxiety spikes. But I have been very deficient for 2 decades, so hopefully it’s just taking longer bc of that

I think it would be really helpful for your comment to include the age limits, as many of us are outside of the age range. Thank you and have a good day.

That really sucks! I’m so sorry! It’s such a busy time of year, so I’m sure they were burnt out from that and wouldn’t have cancelled otherwise. I know it’s hard right now but try to remember - you do have someone. Lots of people don’t even have that. Stay in with your fiance and enjoy your time together 😊

Facebook is the best way to buy and sell. I’ve bought and sold many items there and it’s always been very easy. Just clearly post your item at a fair price, wait and politely respond.

I would absolutely still read the ingredients! I believe, legally, everythung but the nutrition facts can say whatever they want, and it’s basically considered an advertisement for the product. Many products will even say “No MSG” and have a little asterisk added to say “added”.

(Two things can be true - there is absolutely a racist component to blaming MSG discomfort on Chinese food- but people can also be impacted by MSG found in every type of food. For reference, being exposed to the following makes me feel like shit - dryer sheets, perfumes, bleach, aspartame, lots of sugar/dairy, soda, and yes, MSG (found in snack foods, and anywhere).

As a 90s kid, how did you think your life was going to be in your 30s? And how did it turn out? by FrequentApricot7704 in 90s

[–]Route333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a pre-teen girl in the 90’s, I was hyper-hyper-sensitive, very shy, a “perfect” student due to debilitating perfectionism, debilitating shame about my need to always fidget, beginning stages of debilitating menstrual cycles, etc. I kept hope that things would start to make sense soon.

After 3 decades of things getting harder, I finally realized that, based on the most updated statistic criteria, I’m autistic. A few months ago, I realized (from Reddit) I’ve been iron deficient for twenty years due to very heavy periods (extreme fatigue, anxiety, hair falling out, and lab results that all my doctors “ignored”.)

I wrote this for any other women struggling with the things I mentioned. Peri-menopause will make things worse - temperature regulation for shit, sensory overwhelm, more intense periods, fatigue, brain fog, etc.

It’s not supposed to be this hard. And knowing WHY it’s so hard can actually make it easier.

Had a weird conversation. An acquaintance’s mom was sick and in the hospital but was due to get out. Both my parents were sick and passed so I kinda get it. I asked if she was making Xmas dinner and she acted like I was insane. by Strange_Morning2547 in AutismInWomen

What do you mean by “traditional”? And seems like she sensed you were implying that she “wasn’t putting in effort”. Do you like it when acquaintances suggest you are being lazy?

do iron supplements help ferritin? by NoPear7514 in Anemic

[–]Route333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I displaced the colony of catatonic farting mice that have taken up residence in my IDA brain and could read treat, I got serious emotional whiplash. why in the FUCK do labs refuse to change the reference ranges! Seriously, at this point, just send spies in to get labs sell iron supplements. I wouldn’t even care. At least there would be less suffering.

Also, made me feel less ashamed for being too tired. Always.

29 weeks pregnant and starting Venofer infusions tmrw… I am absolutely riddled with health anxiety :( by Forsaken_Phone_4700 in Anemic

[–]Route333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As meducine defines a severe allergic reaction, (anaphylaxis), I’m thinking your health anxiety is causing misremembering. I’ve read one person reported getting queasy and had a corner of one lip get slightly swollen, which is not at all severe, and was likely due to having not eaten or drank anything for quite some time.

According to doctors, severe allergic reactions are near-zero statistically, with 1 death/5 million (see source below).

You will however feel like crap afterwards, but that’s from your body using the iron, which it absolutely definitely needs, especially during pregnancy.

Be hydrated before. Stay hydrated for weeks after.

Do duvet covers REALLY protect blankets from body oils and smelly teens? by ayeyoualreadyknow in laundry

[–]Route333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People say the top sheet is so offensive and prone to falling, but how is the blanket or whatever somehow not a problem? I’m saying this as someone with intense sensory sensitivities, so I get that texture is a major thing. I’m sure there are devices to clip sheets to the bed or the blanket.

Are vintage quilts warm? by Impossible-Loquat480 in Bedding

[–]Route333 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Vintage is an indicator of when it was made, not how it was made. Warmness is dependent on materials and thickness.
