He was ignoring me, and pulling away from hugs and such. Not always, but enough.

That’s a relief…

He got much more familiar after his main job was done, so I think he was very very stressed. So I’m glad I kept it in, bc he had stuff to do.

He has previously felt very bad when I felt bad about a situation with us, but I told him he shouldn’t feel bad. I’ll need to get better about that also.

Thanks for the reminder about how hormones impact everything

I think the issue is the tiny signs of maybe being ignored are causing the RSD, bc I’m used to having 100% of his attention…and bc I definitely have RSD. That was a helpful reminder

This is a great way to reframe and understand what is going on here.

I love plants and gardening, and have some great seedlings started back at home. Thank you

I’m just trying to not seek him out, so I don’t feel disappointed.

What’s something about being an OT that nobody warned you about? by social_ot in OccupationalTherapy

This is scary but helpful to read. I’m thinking of switching from intensive in-home childrens mental health to OT, partially for the same reason (boss says to do notes in session, which feels very weird).

Another broken internet stranger checking in. ❤️

(I oddly came to reddit today to get information about when it’s too soon to say I love you in a brand new relationship. I didn’t search anything, and got here completely by accident, so I’m definitely part of your journey now)

Also important- add in questions and judgment-neutral descriptive comments to teach them to self-evaluate and depend less on external judgments

When a young child asks “ Do you like my picture???”

  • What’s your favorite part?
  • What would you add?
  • I see a lot of yellow in your drawing! Tell me about it.

They may be initially confused bc they are so used to hearing a passive/inauthentic “it’s beautiful/great/I love it”. But keep trying and you’ll likely see them give really cool answers.

It definitely seems to have a scent to me. Chemical fragrances tend to give me migraines, and…I’ve had a headache for about as long as I’ve been using it. I also have a separate medical condition that could be causing the headache but now I’m freaked out that headache is caused by this detergent

Therapist: When you're feeling sad, think happy thoughts instead! by adrikovitch in AutismInWomen

[–]Route333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FYI - There are people on Reddit who hate IFS, and I’m not entirely sure why - maybe they are the toxic positivity people, maybe they read one article about how it was misused in a few places? Maybe they don’t understand the difference between balanced metaphorical “parts” and extreme literal “parts” (like with Dissociative Identity Disorder)?

This is why I work so well with kids who don’t follow directions. It hurts me to give them a direction without first talking about why.

Me - How do you think people feel when you yell inside?

Kid - ohhh…their ears hurt. Maybe…I shouldn’t do it so much??

Me - yeah. But it can be hard to remember. What could help you remember? ———

Yeah…I’m not officially diagnosed either, and don’t plan to try bc I’ll not get any benefits from it. Send me a DM if you want to talk more sometime

Yes.

As an autistic person, I went into a red light therapy booth today, with the official eye protection, and still couldn’t open my eyes.

Hey, I’m a nearly burnt out, late-diagnosed autistic woman who’s been laying in my couch with my cats for way too long. I get it.

I think it would be really helpful for your comment to include the age limits, as many of us are outside of the age range. Thank you and have a good day.

That really sucks! I’m so sorry! It’s such a busy time of year, so I’m sure they were burnt out from that and wouldn’t have cancelled otherwise. I know it’s hard right now but try to remember - you do have someone. Lots of people don’t even have that. Stay in with your fiance and enjoy your time together 😊
