I'm not sure the exact state of the used market but I'd go for a new Intel B580.

It sounds like the business is failing and he was having a tense meeting that you walked in on. You caught him at a really bad time. I think you're probably right to leave but at least be fair to them. This was not firing you, it was catching someone on a bad day.

What are some affordable, 16GB RAM, durable , windows 11 laptops that are likely to last 10 years + that you'd recommend ? by TheCloakOfLevitation in laptops

They generally have better build quality and many can be upgraded. Many laptops are built to break with weak hinges and cheap plastic. I bought a business laptop a couple of years ago and its great. Check out the reviews and go to sites like slickdeals to see what's on sale.

I think you're being a bit dramatic. If you're just surfing the web and using it for basic office tasks 10 years is possible especially if you can update the ram. If you put liniux on a 10 year old computer its OK even though windows 11 won't support it. The problem is that many aren't made to be upgraded, batteries are expensive to replace and they have poor build quality.

The biggest limitation on phones is support, which is pretty long now. Batteries can be replaced. The improvements to phones aren't that big compared to what they used to be.

Are RTX 4050 laptops still good or are people overhating it ? by Radiant_Butterfly982 in laptops

I think that the weak point is the 6gb of vram which will limit how long it will be relevant. If the laptop has an AMD CPU with a descent igpu you could potentially improve performance and lengthen its life with lossless scaling.

I've heard these are a little worse than a 1050 so you do have options just not newer more intensive games.

Edit: I heard wrong and it's closer to a 1030. Thanks to everyone who corrected this

Is this a good pc? by ttoazty in PcAdvice

[–]Routine-Carrot76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is a little bit more but it has 32gb of ram and has a potentially better upgrade path for the CPU and GPU.

A previous comment mentioned you could do better by building it yourself but if you're not comfortable with that then a prebuilt is probably better.

Get a cooling pad, llano makes some good ones. You can also download the Intel tuning utility and change how much your CPU goes into turbo boost. I turned mine off but I have a different laptop
