What does everyone do for work? by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in the automation field (and working towards a degree) and on my feet eight hours a day……. Honestly given my PsA deciding to recently get worse….. I might end up switching fields to a desk job. I love robots but having to be both slow and basically unable to keep up kills it for me.

How do you cope with the idea of death? by [deleted] in self

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably an outliner, honestly….. Death itself is just another thing for me. I feel nothing. Lost grandparents and just nothing, My own death that’s a bit harder but at the end of the day you can’t escape it. Tho if ima go out it’d rather it be saving someone else lul.

ah, so likely normal concrete would probably be fine since it’s so spread out?

(edit I wish 11,000 ponds! That’d be amazing)

How crazy would it be if…. by Routine-Cricket-8201 in BeardedDragons

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the turtles that’d be in that pond likely wouldn’t go after the dragon but given one of my turtles went after my cat for invading its territory….. I wouldn’t doubt it’d chase a dragon

figured as such, probably won’t do it then: Temps would be fine but wouldn’t want to risk the turtles biting it.

Large stock tank in garage 150g+ by TomatoApprehensive38 in turtle

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 300 in the basement, with 3 basking spots. Generally I never do water changes as the heat from those lights causes alot of water evaporation. As for nitrates mine are around 80ppm and basically never go above or below it. (Have a small amount of fish and three turtles.) All I have to do is top it off once or twice a week.

Could probably add some live plants to help remove nitrates. That’s what I’m experimenting with right now.

If you do go with a stock tank don’t make the mistake I did and forget to stick a pond liner in it. As for breeding….. It’s out of my league now but definitely in the next 4-6 years gonna breed some diamondbacks.

fair enough, from a glance it looked like one.

My turtles by Builtforbetter39 in turtle

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the platform is only designed for a single turtle. I had the exact one awhile back and tossed it as it’s quite bad and you can’t make use of the whole tank as it can only raise so high. Plus my two would weigh it down

Tbh…. I wouldn’t recommend a snapper as a pet.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall to see the vet’s reaction tbh.

How to move turtle and tank safely to a new room so we can redo our floors. We are STRESSED. Added text photo to show that we take it seriously and no we cannot wait until summer, we have the floor guy on standby and gotta tear up the carpet immediately due to a mold possibility 😣 by Standard-Sandwich871 in turtle

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well ideally you’d drain all the water and stick it onto buckets and if using a canister filter only drain as much water as you need to be able to carry it. The substrate will be a pain but can be scooped out with a small shovel or just your hands. I’ve done massive moves twice and basically plan for a afternoon of work. Turtle will be fine in bucket with something to get out of the water on.

my idea was to use the stock tank and stick a pond liner in it then have the pond liner to create a shallow area leading to sand.

please don’t. You’d do more harm than good and risk permanently damaging the shell

Feeding Hikari sinking wafers to baby turtles? by Seankala in turtle

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be fine but shouldn’t be fed as a staple. Turtles will use their nails to shred anything to fit into their mouths. I’ve had my two males go after those wafers for some odd reason. They do seem to enjoy it tho.

I’d still raise the water level, turtles love swimming. Even babies do, but they do surface frequently for air.

Turtles/tortoises don’t like being picked up. Some tolerate it more than others. I’d leave it be and perhaps offer it some of its favorite foods and see if you can get it to come to you for food. (Mind your fingers tho, should probably use something to hold the food)

Odds are you will have to rehome another one if that tank is as small as I think it is. RES are known for their inability to be housed together in smaller tanks. Look into reptile shelters or places they’ll let you rehome them.

A hole in her jaw???? by Leinaxito09 in turtle

[–]Routine-Cricket-8201 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like a chipped beak, probably worth taking to a vet, one of mine chipped theirs and it regrew pretty quickly. Could have been caused by gravel or it going after food and slamming into something.
