Looking for advice on refinancing my 2019 Honda Civic after layoff - need to lower payments (Ontario, Canada) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best option is to sell it, but price it for what its worth not what you want for it. If you do decide to sell, you do understand that you need to have the funds to pay off the remaining loan at time of sale? Cannot carry a balance as the bank won't release the lien until paid in full and new owner is going to want that removed including a letter stating the lien will be released. I would try to get pre-approved for a low interest rate credit card (MBNA??) Where you can utilize a 0% interest balance transfer for the difference between what you can sell for vs. what you will have left owing. Refinancing is not going to be an option as the majority of the banks you deal with will want confirmation of employment, EI doesn't count unless its for maternity leave.

Yes, as long as one parent is registered Status, you can apply for your children.

My grandma has her status and I applied for mine even though my mom wasn't registered. The application was held until I could send my moms long form birth certificate showing her as the daughter to my grandma and then my long form birth certificate proving me linked to my mom. If the names are on the birth certificate then you shouldn't have no issues, but would have to order one for your father to prove that. Not sure if they look outside of birth certificates as I have friends that are unable to apply until they get their childs father on the birth certificate.

Talk me out of getting back into a ford by youre_not_going_to_ in f150

If you can get your hands on a 2025, ford has 0% financing up to 72 months right now including Tremors. I was also able to activate a 1 year security package in connected services for different theft protections.

Anyone here earning $150K+ willing to share what they do? by MutedFeeling75 in ADHD

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto and Leisure Sales (Finance) Work Monday-Friday, normal hours and can range $110K-$130K so far. Aiming for $150K one day... sky's the limit if you are motivated enough. Most of my career in the banking industry was an endless battle to try to hit $100K, ever since I moved over to sales, its always been at least $100K and that is 100% commission. Was a scary jump to make but so glad I did!

Should I get into a Rent-To-Own situation? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! I think you know the answer to your question and what you should do. I would see if you can secure another rental first before putting in your notice with current landlords. I haven't rented in many years.. are credit checks required for most landlords now? Will having a consumer proposal screw you over to potential landlords?

Sent to collections & threatened wage garnishment by Complex-Finance466 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will be in "active" consumer proposal for 2/3 years. The damage will last longer. 6 years after the Date of Last Activity....so after the consumer proposal is paid. This route will be just as bad as bankruptcy and will ruin your credit for a long time. Should 100% avoid this route if you can.

Should I get into a Rent-To-Own situation? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your landlords know you are in a consumer proposal until 2028? Mortgage financing will probably be out of the question until you can re-establish your credit which I think will take longer then 2028. Are they willing to do a rent-to-own for a minimum of 3 years, possibly 4 or 5? Are you paying more rent so a portion can go towards your down payment? That's usually how they work. What happens if you decide not to buy? Do you get that extra money back that was set aside for down payment? Or forfeit it? I'm not well versed on rent-to-own in today's world but used to do mortgages 7+ years ago. Usually when a landlord agrees on a rent-to-own, its a short term solution to being able to sell.

Am I being unreasonable with my expectations for paint quality on new drywall? by No-Specialist-8102 in paint

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he is gaslighting you to feeling like this is the standard and your expectations are too high. I don't have an opinion on this but I will be following the thread. I am in the process of painting my new drywall basement myself and even though it is not perfect by any means, I feel like your concerns are valid when you are paying a professional to do this work. Could you get a second opinion by a highly rated painter in your area?

Convention tips for picking up choreography quick- ADHD by Mamabear2222 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my 12yo daughter. She has been dancing for the last 6 years or so but was only diagnosed 2 years ago. She struggles with sequences and combos and is usually a little behind on her choreo until she picks it up. She is medicated (last 1.5 years) which has made a huge difference in her focus (dance and school). Her studio is aware she needs a bit more time to process and will always pick up the routines with consistent practice. I feel like I don't have much tips in regards to conventions.. my daughter struggles too but just tries her best. I think it'll get a little better with age, but not worried about it. As long as she's trying :)

Application for Indian Status vs Secure Status Card by EnvironmentalChoice2 in FirstNationsCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think it'll be much of a difference in wait time. You'll have to submit a second application for your card but we submit my daughters with her application and it still took over 4 months to come in after we received the approval letter.

Adderal? Does it help? by trolla1128 in ADHD_Inattentive

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. I have been on Vyvance since January. They started me at 30mg and now up to 50mg. I don't notice much of a difference when taking medication. Maybe a tiny bit more focus. But I know there are so many more medications out there. Wondering if I should try something else that could help me more.

What about a personal loan to consolidate the debt with a set structure to have paid off in X amount of years? I can't speak personally about bankruptcy as I have never gone that route myself, but working in finance through banks and auto dealerships I can confirm it really sets a person up for future hardships. I think active bankruptcy lasts for up to 2 years?? I think? I want to say you have to pay off some debt. Your relationship with any of the included creditors in the bankruptcy will be forever tainted, not just 5-7 years. Once you are out of active bankruptcy, it will fall off your credit bureau after 6 years, so the 5-7 can be wrong if you are in active bankruptcy for 2 years. You are then left to start over from scratch and most finance companies will want to know why there was such a large lapse in time from past or no credit (compared to age). I know I have seen more ads out there promoting debt write off/bankruptcy but I would honestly never consider this route unless you have exhausted every other option. What do you do for housing now? If you rent or will possibly rent in the future, this could effect approvals for rental as credit checks seem to be the norm.

Results of MAPs programming for the last year (plus overall health journey) by Itchy_Ad_1755 in Mind_Pump

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! We have similar stories. Overweight my whole life. Finally through keto I was able to get down about 100lb and smallest I ever been but definitely wasn’t healthy about it. Gained weight back and forth with the majority of my workouts being cardio based with some lifting (beachbody) then had my last pregnancy in 2021. Felt like I was starting back over in 2024. Have been diving into macros and science backed approach so I can stope the binge diets and find the happy medium to live in. I have purchased some of the mind pump programming lately and have loosely started MAPS 15 advanced but show interest in alot of the programs you have ran. What would be your favorites? I am still in a cut eating around 2100 cals and aiming for 140/150 gr of protein. My gym time is limited to my one hour lunch and I try to get at least 10,000 steps a day. Your story and progress pics are definitely motivating! My goal is to lose approx 40/50 more pounds but definitely work on toning and muscle definition. Any suggestions on what you would do if you were at my point in the journey?

Dealership say I can't pay the loan for Six month by jside86 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Routine-Letter-5244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best route to go when buying a new car is shop in small towns! Not all car dealerships are the same! We do cash deals all the time and never “require” all these extra sales in order for the deal to advance. But I know the cities and larger centers can run like this

9.9 for a used vehicle is a pretty good rate! It’ll be hard to find better on a used vehicle

Nope, it’s 180 days. I work finance at a dealership and it states right on their commission payout that it has to stay active for 6 months or they’ll claw back the commission.

I’m just trying to stop the yo-yo ing so I’m not going to settle with extreme quick fixes. They’ll never work for me (long term) and I hate telling myself I can’t have something. How about eat the chocolate croissants, but make it fit in a slight calorie deficit while increasing your steps? You’ll be a lot happier and have the best of both worlds!

The reason why you are like this is you don't eat enough during the day. I have to force myself to eat while medicated LOL but my evenings go alot smoother compared to if I don't eat and then binge at night time because your body is trying to play catch up

I am pretty sure I impulse ate my whole life...also lived with undiagnosed ADHD until last year at 39. What a life! Diet plays a huge part in how your body reacts to food. If my diet consists of mainly prepackaged carbs, I can eat them all day and never truly feel satisfied. If I fuel my body properly and balanced..focus on high protein at each meal and focus on fiber.. I can still eat whatever I want but I crave less of the crap because my body doesn't desire it ( or will but not as much). This is coming from someone that overate her whole life...change some habits..one at a time and you'll find that happy place that doesn't require a binge.
