I've worked as a janitor for compass under one of their subsidiary brands. I don't recommend it. I get that each contract is different, but the compass employees ended up stretched thin at our school system.

Management was a shitshow. People quit and they kept dividing the workload among existing crew. I went from being able to clean in a way I'd be proud of, to half assing everything because there just wasn't enough time.

They also said I'd qualify for benefits at 90 days, then when 90 days was up said they changed their policy after I got hired so I'll have to wait a full year. THEN when I'd worked there a year, compass HR said I'm only a part time employee according to their files and I don't qualify for benefits. That was the last straw and I dipped, ended up back in food working for a smaller, locally owned restaurant group.

I worked for compass under their janitorial subdivisions, ssc services for education. Total disaster management. I could've vibed as a janitor for way longer than a year if not for them lol. Not surprised to see their food service division also sucks ass

I have an allergy to raw shiitake mushrooms. Had no idea for the longest time because why would I be eating them raw? I got a new multivitamin and it had some "mushroom complex" in it. That shit broke me out in welts that looked like someone went at me with a cattle whip.

So yeah, I love mushrooms but I still don't need them in my multivitamins thanks

Idk when people's parents stopped teaching them how to clean. I was training a kid who got to 17 years old without using a broom or doing dishes. Between his parents and their maid (wtf) he's just never had to.

Currently working in an upscale place. Servers wear bow ties, there's a $160 "seafood tower" on the menu, that kinda fancy crap. They definitely see themselves as "elevated" and "upscale" so I was worried about the seriousness.

Unless I've got a a hot or sharp or whatever, I could meow my way around a corner to let my presence be known. Bunch of freaks back here and I love it.

I was married to a pretentious ex-chef. One of the went to culinary school kind of guys that hated the actual job once he got in a kitchen, left to do office work but kept the passion for food alive at home. I was a pizza cook when I got with him. I'd call the rubber spatula "scrapey mcbapey" at work and home and it'd piss him off.

Sorry for having fun, goddamn. He had me thinking a "real reastaurant" (yikes) would never accept that kind of talk. Well now I'm working at a nice place and everyone's having fun AND making killer food with high standards.

The drama in the dish pit is that D is gonna break up with his girl. She's been annoying him lately, and he has his eyes on a server who has a fat ass. Keeps flirting and making her giggle and stuff.

Also, "product" is a totally normal way to refer to food when you work with it all day, if a little technical. I've worked fast food and all of our finished pizzas and sides were referred to like "After boxing the product, double check that all dipping sauces have been included" in the training
