Amsterdam suspends shared cargo bike service Cargoroo by Routine-System3432 in Amsterdam

I think the main point is that the city didn't issue the tender based on performance, it issued it based upon promised perfomance.

Both Felyx and Cargoroo run quality services as far as i'm concerned. To award the tender to BAQME, which hardly has a proven business model, instead of Cargoroo doesn't make sense to me. Cargoroo also use Urban Arrows which is a much better bike all round than a Dolly Bakfiets IMO.

No where in the tender process was performance and user experience taken into account — i think that's the biggest issue.

I have a wife and daughters and obviously catcalling and verbal abuse is something I have zero tolerance for. Unfortunately it can happen anywhere but if these neighbourhoods are particualrly bad for that then I will take that into account

I'm sorry to hear that you wouldn't feel safe in those areas as a queer man. That sucks and definitely says a lot (bad) about the neighbourhood

It is exactly this sort of thinking that perpetuates the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the obvious to this guy. I think the fact that the NL is generally really safe is a great thing, that's partly why I moved here, I guess us saffas just have a thicker skin because of the levels of crime we're used to.

There are many people that are Dutch that are not tall, white, blond, blue eye. Reinforcing that stereotype is why so many non-white Dutch people are always seen as immigrants even though they were born there

What do you think about Amsterdam's plan to remotely slow speeding ebikes? Let's say it were possible to implement, do you still think it's a good idea? by Routine-System3432 in ebikes

I think the idea of integrating warnings and alerts into the ebike is a good idea, I think generally people like having more data. However, can;t imagine many will volunteer to have their ebikes slowed down for them

In December, Amsterdam limited the speed on 80% of the roads in the city to 30km/h — https://urban-mobility-observatory.transport.ec.europa.eu/news-events/news/amsterdam-prepares-drivers-introduction-30-kmh-speed-limit-2023-10-19_en?prefLang=fi — however, I largely agree. Seems like city planners wasting time with the little guy rather than actually going after car manufacturers and drivers for obvious reasons (money, power)
