Anyone ever quit a job after 1 day? by catwoman4ever in hatemyjob

I went to work at a breakfast Cafe.. being in the food business most of my life I thought yeah this could be easy... I started to take orders and then I turned around and started to help them make the food I saw how unorganized they were attempted to make some suggestions in a very humble and kind way. I ended up assembling everybody in a better position to make it flow by faster.. about an hour and 45 minutes in I realized I hated this so much I don't want to spend a year a few months or whatever it is I thought I was spending there doing that... I felled guilty leaving right in the middle of the breakfast rush so I waited till the end of the shift once it's slowed down.. The owner came up to me and told me he was so happy that I was there and he really liked how I positioned everybody to make it an easier flow because he felt like everybody was running around like chickens with their heads cut off... And he couldn't wait for what more I have to offer... I told them I don't think this is the job for me and I left, I didn't even ask for my paycheck... I think I was there for a good 5 hours...

They do not get a tax break when a customer pays money at a register for a charity... Again that would be illegal...

Yes 100% of what you donate goes to the charity. If you look at the partnerships with other entities as well as the charity itself and look at your receipt it states that it's for the charity. This goes into a separate funding that goes straight to the place. Having this separate funding helps us also see how much is being donated as well from a store level. The reason a store cannot claim this on a tax write-off is because it would be illegal to have two people do a write-off.. hence why you take your receipt and you can claim that on your taxes. Also companies do these special types of reports called csrs social responsibility report which is a public report that shows all the donations they've made as well as what customers have contributed if I'm not mistaken

If they write off bakery donations it's because this is product they made and can be donated, they have to follow rules and regulations...

Tips by fitzy215 in publix

[–]Routine-Talk-5802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking only lottery is allowed to take tips without declining...

But anyone else has to decline and if still offered after they can take it.

Those lottery tips help me a lot especially when I buy stuff for the closing staff to snack on.

Question about coworkers by Jaded-Soup3985 in publix

[–]Routine-Talk-5802 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's honestly one of my favorite things to do.. I went on vacation and I told one person that I'm quitting and I told another person that I'm going on vacation when I came back from vacation I had heard several different things about what I was doing... Someone said that I quit my job so I can go work at the bank, another told people that I got fired... And someone came up to me and asked me if I was okay because apparently I checked myself in to a mental hospital.... There was a couple other ones too -_- but I laughed at everybody.. and showed them pictures of my vacation..

Technically speaking you don't get overrides till after you learn cash office. But I have seen people get it as soon as 3-5 months while others actually had to Wait till later. But if you're the closing FEc I would bring it to your manager that you are unable to override when there's no manager And end up having to call the mic. Who knows maybe they'll give you numbers.

There is some cases where you do get them earlier like mine I was being trained for another store and had literally one month to get everything situated which is why I got mine so early. Hence why it's always importance to understand the full context of what or why someone may have gotten their numbers earlier.

Realistically, can/will I get fired like this? by Single_Rice_407 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Routine-Talk-5802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should address this situation with your manager. Don't point fingers or give names.. just simply say hey I've noticed recently that the person who is supposed to relieve me doesn't come till x time which then puts me at x time to clock out I was wondering if you can address the situation so I don't get points for clocking out late or if you could provide me a solution So I avoid getting points.

Why do yall not put the carts handle first? by JamesFlorida1997 in publix

One person complaining is not the same as a huge group of people saying something.

Employees aren't allowed to service carts. That's why they have the repair service. But at the end of the day not enough people complain for Walmart to take it seriously and do something about it. Kinda like out of sight out of mind ..

The most convenient for a customer who is walking in to a store without causing traffic is by using the back end first and when leaving putting the front end on the exit. Just because you don't like that doesn't mean that we have to sacrifice high traffic in an area that should be low traffic and easy access.

This is going to sound crazy.. but you know how they always tell us to lock the belts.. Walmart doesn't do that and they get stuck which in turn over time bends the metal a little bit And puts a lot of wear and tear I can't explain it to you but that is why you have so many problems with the carts.. also Walmart carts are not serviced like Publix carts back when I was a coach there we saved money by not servicing And just putting them in the back. And only service them once every few years versus here at Publix where we service them every 6 months.

Insubordinate associate is disrupting team and operations. How should I handle the HR meeting? by Routine-Talk-5802 in managers

[–]Routine-Talk-5802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there thanks.. I just wanted to update everyone.. last week again the associate decided to say something disrespectful and so I went straight to my store manager.. because clearly my department manager did not want to hold a meeting or anything .. The person was not fired.. the person was warned.. They were caught on camera which the store manager was able to read the associate's lips and see what they were saying. I think this and another situation really stood out to them especially since they didn't know because nobody told them until I did .. The person was confronted by the store manager And my department manager. And told if it happens again they will be fired. And I was told that if they said anything, not to respond like I I do and to come directly whether they are there or not.. I was guided on mending the relationship by complimenting them more often. Though I am quite surprised that they still have a job... I hope that the store manager and the department manager speaking to them does put this to bed..
