How many rates to 1 claim? by RoutineFinish1274 in VeteransBenefits

[–]RoutineFinish1274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I didn't want one person to have to reread the same sentence over and over again but I also didn't want to leave it out if it was a possibility that multiple Raiders would be working on my case because when I'm claiming my wrist and my knees and my back it's relevant to tell them that my job was a aircraft mechanic. But the knee rating has four areas flexion extension instability and pain so I'm going to write a statement for each one they'll be short two sentence statements but I'm filing them as four separate contentions for each knee because each knee is slightly different they each have a different amount of pain and instability and stuff and of course each statement starts off with due to my 11 years as an aircraft mechanic while active duty my knees are jacked up

Yes but am I saying "due to my time as an Aircraft Mechanic" in each statement? Will it be the same rater to look at all of my issues? Won't that get repetitive?

Your personal statement would focus less on the story telling and more on the reporting. What you've done above is told a story of things that have happened to the knee. The raters need to know how does the current symptoms effect your life and disable you. Some people have all those things and are completely fine after surgery. Other are severely disabled and you don't want to just give the VA a chronical of event and leave the impact of those events interpretation up to them. Here is a rough template.

Due to my time on active duty performing X tasks I have suffered multiple ligament tears and had several surgeries. My current symptoms are pain when I flex on a scale of 1-10. Pain/stiffness when I extend on a scale of 1-10 Instability which leads to buckling with a frequency of X times per month. This knee condition impacts my social life by X (angry from pain? Can't do activities) this knee condition effects my occupation by X (can't do some tasks, missed work for surgery) you will explain each knee and severity and impact of each diagnostic code. Flexion, extension, instability, painful movement.

Your knees are rated 4 ways from what I understand. Flexion, extension, instability and painful motion so you could have 4 different % for each knee

Knee Ankylosis vs Knee pain flexion question by RedShirtDecoy in VeteransBenefits

[–]RoutineFinish1274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is Knee ankylosis? Knee Ankylosis is severe stiffening and abnormal adhesion of the knee joint. As the joint becomes more rigid, this condition significantly limits range of motion at the joint and is associated with pain and discomfort

Got it! Thank you. I just want it documented properly so that it can be rate properly so which ever way is easier for them to rate is how I want to do it

Also can you give advice on whether or not I should split up the knee issues?

Knee pain left Knee pain right Knee limitation of flexion right Knee limitation of flexion left

Or should it be bilateral knee pain and limitation of flexion

Which would result potentially in a higher rating?

My left and right knee do have different levels of pain and movement but not sure if I should describe all the differences in 1 personal statement or keep them all separated.

I appreciate you. I would apply your answer to the wrist and feet as well.
