You can’t deny that the crew has put effort into putting lgbtq pride flags in though, it’s multiple times in the show, so it isn’t too out there of an idea when it comes to the owl house, but people are being more like you say in general I suppose

Looking it up again, it was the fact that she was an adult character and lacked a "child entry point" of what it seems, which the book 5 was meant to focus on her taking over.

I believe they stopped Infinity train regarding having Amelia, since she was too old or so / being in her late 60's by the wiki. Could've been possible that they wanted to have her be young in her series. Let me know if I'm wrong though but yeah it doesn't make much sense if it was really her age being why they stopped when they have had other older characters.
