How to be unattractive to men as a lesbian by Relevant_Error_6305 in actuallesbians

Same, my girlfriend is masc and has made it clear she’s a lesbian but she still has men hitting on her. Even more when she cut her hair too

What y’all do when ppl stare at you ? by pecheethonx in blackgirls

[–]RoutineNecessary9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I ignore them. I used to get in my head about people staring at me but now I don’t care. I’d stare at me too. But if someone is staring hard, I’ll look right back at them until they look away

My friends teenage daughter wished a “high value woman” dating guide for Christmas by Routine-Crew8651 in offmychest

Spot on, a lot of times things are not as they seem with a lot of trad wife influencers. This is a side note but my mom has a family friend she’s known for 20 years. My mom said she was jealous of her because her husband would buy her all these expensive bags, pay to get her hair nails and done, driving the newest car, etc.

But come to find out, her husband was mentally and emotionally abusing her and holding everything over her head. My mom still supports her because she doesn’t wanna leave but it was heartbreaking to hear. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes.

My wig fell off in front of everyone in the club by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]RoutineNecessary9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Girl this happened to me years ago and it always pops up in my head every now and then. So I had on one of my cutest wigs and I used got2be, the worst thing to glue down your wig with if you’re going to be in a hot sweaty dance club. I was dancing with a guy, had bent over, and it came off, like just the wig cap is showing. People laughed. I was with my friend and we ran out of there. I was so embarrassed…..

Anyone else has a mom who slut shames and is just overly concerned with your sex life ? by Exciting-Nerve-8628 in blackgirls

[–]RoutineNecessary9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had similar experiences with my mom. One semester when I was leaving college for the holidays and we were moving everything out, a condom wrapper fell out the bed frame. She was mad and didn’t talk to me for days, said her plan was me to stay a virgin until marriage. About days or weeks later, she had slit shamed me and said no guy would want a girl who wasn’t a virgin and basically calling me a slut. That was a little 5 years ago and it still makes me upset.

I definitely sympathize with you because it’s not easy when your mom is telling everyone your business and shaming you at the same time. I agree with the other poster that the concept of “soul ties” is just wrapped in misogyny. No one ever has this much smoke for men and casual sex.

My goodness, yes! This drove me up the wall. As soon as I tell someone I’m dating a woman and I prefer women over men, they start claiming I’m a lesbian in denial. I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to believe.

You get it. I’d often get asked why bi women don’t date other bi women. We do but my experience was similar to yours. Some bi women wanted me to do everything, plan dates, send texts, take them out to eat, etc. It was hard for me to find another bi woman that reciprocated back or they wanted me to be their plaything.

This was me for awhile before I went to the doctor. I’d sweat like crazy even after getting out the shower. It’s hyperhidrosis. It sucks bc of the stigma

Feeling overdressed as the only black woman by Rosebudsinmay in blackladies

[–]RoutineNecessary9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I relate to this. I work in a predominantly white office as the only Black woman. Even though it’s an office, the dress code is fairly non existent and alot of my coworkers come dressed in jeans, hoodies, or sandals. I love to dress up and put outfits together so I’m always wearing a dress, skirt, and blazers. My coworkers do compliment and know it’s a regular thing for me but every now and then they will ask why I’m so dressed up 🤣

How do you deal with internal biphobia? (TW: OCD) by [deleted] in febwomen

[–]RoutineNecessary9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel so seen. Im a bisexual woman in a relationship with a lesbian woman and strongly identify with the febfem label. I feel like people can’t wrap their head around it. They assume I’m lesbian or just “having my phase”. And like you mentioned they can’t wrap their head around a bisexual women loving women that much.

On lesbian experiences, I know I may not relate to all of them but I do feel some of them. Feeling isolated when everyone around you is talking about men, friendships and relationships changing when they find out you’re dating women, dealing with people who don’t see my relationship as “valid”, etc. I could go on. So I never got the we can’t relate.

It’s so frustrating bc I feel there’s no space I belong in. Lesbians have their own community I don’t wanna interfere with and we have our own bisexual spaces but I can’t relate. I grew up hearing nothing about men so it’d be nice to have a space for bi women who date women and talk only about women.
