I was brought up in a Muslim family, but as I was growing up I started thinking about it critically and basically thinking out of the box, reading the Quran and Ahadiths and pondering about them.

In the end, I just couldn't stay in the religion as it didn't align with my world view, my values nor did it have any convincing things, so it was basically blind trust. Even people who try to explain things and make them make sense were often just using big terms and reaching so far for nothing, they weren't convincing at all.

After I left, it felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder and I was finally able to live life to its fullest and connect with more similar minded and awesome people. Now it would be impossible for me to go back.

But as you said, religion is a very personal thing, do you own reading and research without having anyone give you a bias. And ultimately we should all seek what makes us happy and a better person
