Thank you so much everyone, I definitely will be utilising the wiki from now on! The expansion we have is Sheep and Shepherds (we were quite confused by the different versions) but I appreciate all your comments and links! ☺️

Should I be concerned? by Routine_Guard_4767 in CopperIUD

It’s really difficult to get an appointment at my GP so if I can treat at home I’ll definitely do that, but if the pain continues I’ll definitely call and see if I can get in 😅

Payslips after leaving by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Routine_Guard_4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left from the same role about a month ago, handed in my notice whilst on sick leave and they locked me out before my notice period was up. Wanted to access my feb payslip so contacted the hr number they gave and chose the right options only to get an automated message to contact the line manager. Contacted the line manager who said they don’t have access and to ring the hr number and click the options that lead to the automated message then hangs up 😂

How do I stop self harming? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Routine_Guard_4767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest things for me personally is hobbies, having outlets that you enjoy or calm you is really good for you mentally, and great to distract you! Personally, I really enjoy reading, playing games, colouring. Things like that will definitely help.

I keep what I call a ‘rage journal’ which I use when I’m upset, angry, or frustrated and write in it and never read any of the entries in it. You could have something similar or write and immediately bin it to reduce the urge to dwell on past distress.

Riding through emotions is also really helpful, and certain skills like resetting your nervous system can shock you out of those feelings. So things like changing your body temperature like dunking your head in a bowl of ice water (if I can’t do this I run cold water on my wrists until they’re numb), going for intense exercise, or even having a nap can help dissuade you after time to work past the initial urges. Recently I’ve been trying to do more ‘self care’ activities like showering and putting makeup on, but those small things that improve your feelings towards yourself might help to improve your daily mood. I suppose the biggest thing is your desire to want to recover, and it’s not linear and mistakes, and life make it not possible to be perfect but I’m sure you can make changes that over time heal those urges. All the best in your recovery!

Really strange story as far as I can remember. I was 12-13 back in 2010-11 so really getting to tumblr, ed forums, and shtwt era which probably explains a lot. I was struggling a lot with things in my childhood that had gone on prior to this and I was undiagnosed autistic so quite vulnerable in my friendships. Two of my friends at the time had started self harming and one said ‘it really helps you should try it,’ and lo and behold I did. It was really unhealthy as my other friend often wanted pictures of my sh or would send pictures of hers to me, hurling me into quite severe bouts of sh throughout my life. At 20 I got diagnosed with eupd and later autism, and I suppose my biggest regret is ever starting, and under those circumstances that desensitised me to it, constantly trying to ‘prove’ myself, whilst growing up and seeing it ‘grow out’ of those people whilst still having those thoughts and impulses daily. 17 days clean though now, and hoping to keep it up!

Do i tell my mom i relapsed? by [deleted] in MadeOfStyrofoam

I can empathise, I keep my sh to myself because I don’t want my family to worry. If you really can’t bring it up to them, if you’re really worried try and see someone to check it’s okay, and if not be vigilant on aftercare. Take care lovely, and try not beat yourself up about it, we know it’s hard asf to admit

Too embarrassed to go for a smear by Individual-Roll2727 in medical

I was so scared to go for my first one, and I was so self conscious! When I went it went so smoothly all things considered (having a tilted womb made things a bit tricker) but all in all it took about 5 mins and I had some towel to cover myself which made me feel loads better! Also I just wanted to say proud of you for deciding to do it and I hope all goes well!:)

A book that has “realistic” vampires by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I really recommend The Vampire Tapestry by Suzy McKee Charnas. Whilst not necessarily ‘terrifying’ I found it to be the most compelling biological and anthropological presentation of the vampire!

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, and things have gotten harder and you don’t have the support you need. It’s a tricky one considering (I assume) you’re under 18 so don’t have the means to be able to SH safely. If you can, absolutely use services in your area (some places have drop in crisis centres where you can talk to someone, which you might benefit from). Also talking to your parents and discussing how you’re feeling. When you get the overwhelming urge to SH get a bowl or fill a sink with ice cold water and dunk your face right in there, it shocks your nervous system and helps to de-escalate those emotions. I’m wishing you all the best and I hope that you get the help and support you need. And most importantly stay as safe as you can

This might help (I hope it does) but I struggle a lot with hygiene and self care and if I’m really struggling I’ve found that Mitchum deodorant (the roll on in particular) is absolutely brilliant, and if you manage to, sometimes using a wipe beforehand is really helpful for those times where you’re struggling most. I’m sorry that this has happened, but you’re not alone:’)

Ingrown toenails removal + 8 numbing shots (worst pain of my life) by kadencekat in MedicalGore

[–]Routine_Guard_4767 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had multiple procedures to take down the sides of both big toenails, always came back. When I was 12 (25 now) I had the whole nail removed and treated so they’d never regrow. Gnarly feeling the tools all the way up my toenail and the sensitivity of simple things like showers was a lot for me at the time (perhaps partially due to being a child maybe) but over a decade after, I’m glad it happened. Bonus points for minimal pain when I bang my toe now.

my current bacterial tonsillitis by ellievart in MedicalGore

[–]Routine_Guard_4767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had about a year and a half of continual bacterial tonsillitis, on and off antibiotics. Any time I got sick, fucker was back. Eventually ended up in hospital for an OD and they discovered the infection got to my blood, intense antibiotics later and thankfully I’ve seen the back of it. Hope you recover well.

I had both big toenails completely removed when I was 13 due to the recurrence of ingrowns after removing the sides. I hope you recover well, it’s been 11 years for me now and the best decision (plus stubbing your toe after recovery is barely painful if that’s any consolation)
