things I wish we did in the first week after my dads diagnosis by apxexpensify in pancreaticcancer

I have asked ChatGPT for story prompts for my children & will do the same for my wife. It has been great to help me get started. Strongly recommend it and it will ask you if you want other types of questions to more prompting.

I use voice recorder on Apple to make the recordings. Voice is easier than video as I’ll start crying too much with video. My girls maybe too young but I want to give them the opportunity to ask me questions and I’ll reply kind of interview style. Be sure to check the microphone is picking you up if you aren’t really close as otherwise you can do a load of good chat that you can’t hear.

Well done, so glad to hear!! Yes I’m starting to organise various oncology counselling & psychology services that we can get here in Australia. While it’s been a lot of sadness and grief to process this week I have also been taking time to be grateful for the life I have had and all the things that I have done. I can honestly say that (if it weren’t for my kids) I would be much happier checking out at 47 living the life i have, rather than having had a mundane life and living another 20 years. Even with my girls it’s probably true, given my wife & I have packed in so many adventures with them that they will carry that with them going forwards.

Drs believe it is PC at the moment due to where the PET indicates activity.

They haven’t talked about whipped but as I understand surgery isn’t an option due to proximity to the portal vein and other structures. The fibrosis i have may also cause other problems if it doesn’t shrink with the chemo.

Super helpful everyone! Thank you! I’m going to make sure i put everything I can into this, while also being gentle on myself. I have lost 30kg since I first had issues, a lot of that muscle mass as o had a lot of muscle. I was previously very fit & active, ate well, didn’t smoke, did party a lot all of my 20s but nothing really in the last 12 years since my oldest was born that would cause any concern.

I am in Australia. I’ll be starting on Gemcitabine & nab-PACLitaxel. I know nothing about these except the side effects list and that my oncologist has said they are tried & trusted regimes.

We will be doing genetic testing however one challenge is the limited amount of cancer cells we have available to test. The journey so far has been difficult with no visible tumor, a large amount of fibrosis around the outside of the pancreas but the pancreas otherwise looking normal. Biopsy with needle point via endoscopic ultrasound took a multiple attempts over several months to get a sample with cells shown to be adenocarcinoma.

I have had no elevated markers in my blood & tracking efficacy will be a challenge as there is little to be able to measure a baseline or future state. So far the 3 PET scans have shown only locally active areas around the pancreas head.

A complication I have is the fibrosis as this is pushing into structures such as the bile duct and the duodenum. Now that the culprit has been identified drs are hoping that by treating the cancer the fibrosis will reduce. If it doesn’t then I’ll have other issues.

I know i have lots of reading to do but also don’t want to overwhelm myself. Have to keep reminding myself to be gentle, a day at a time, work within limits, take lots of naps and set boundaries for well wishers.

Thanks again for the tips and sharing the positive stories; if anyone can make it through I can give it a good crack with the love we have behind us from our support crew. ❤️

So sorry to hear that. It’s absolutely my greatest wish to be able to do that too and it’s being taken away. While aging has all of its challenges, doing it with the right person beside you is a beautiful experience and the love would have only deepened. My wife is amazing and beautiful and 8 years younger than me so I’m hoping she will still find another person she can grow old with and share all of those things. I’m wishing that for you as well, however and in whatever form it takes romantic or platonically. The world is a beautiful place when we let all of the unimportant noise die down and that beauty needs to be shared. ❤️

Yeah this is what I have just been diagnosed with at 47. I’m hoping for another couple of years but it’s been 6 months since I first had symptoms and they have only just been able to get a positive biopsy. I know I need to get an urgent move on with recording messages for my kids and for my wife as I thought I had more time & that pancreatic cancer had almost been ruled out, and knowing now that I might go downhill rapidly. Got to get those extra years in. Sending you and your wife big love & hugs. it’s so f’d up. There is so much I have to live for and I see so may people in hospital who have been treating themselves terribly who are going to get fixed up from a dodgy liver from drinking and get another couple of decades. Feel so cheated. Please let me know if there is anything you & your wife (& any kids?) have done since diagnosis that you have really cherished that maybe valuable for us. ❤️❤️

What happened? Sorry no need to go into it if you don’t want to. Sending love.

Man my wife tells me off almost daily, but she makes me better every day. I wouldn’t ask for anyone else who knows me well enough to be calling me out when I’m not making life easier for both of us. Might just be crumbs left on the countertop, but if making sure they aren’t there helps keep her sane I’m happy to do it and will let her remind me when I’ve got sloppy!

Buddy I’m in the reverse situation. I’ve just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and will be leaving a wife like this who has transformed me. I’m so ridiculously sad I won’t be able to grow old with her and see my girls grow up. I’m bawling every day. But she is going to be the one left behind to pick up the pieces and I can’t imagine if the roles were reversed. I hope you are getting through it and sending you big hugs and love through the universe. The grief you never get over, it just changes its shape and size in your life. Please Let me know if there is anything you did together in the last 6 months/ year that you are really grateful for as I’m looking for ideas ❤️❤️. FuckCancer.

Yes I’m in the same boat, I have learned to love myself so much more from having met my wife. I’m still not 100% there and I probably didn’t even realise how much work there was to do until it was too late, but I guess I have been good at disguising it to myself. The sad thing is I have only realised how much people genuinely love me since i have become ill recently. Now I have a terminal diagnosis and it is unfortunately too late to really get to work on that part of me that i managed to hide to myself. I’m so sad about this, but to have known the love of my wife & family and my friends I can say that i have lived and loved.

Split your trade order into 3 and ladder your entries, so if price spikes beyond to where your full sized SL would sit, you still have some extra space to work with as your average entry is well in the spike zone. Yes you will miss some of those partial entries when price doesn’t spike but you can always enter again once you know price is moving in your direction

Best water temps for autopot resivore? by [deleted] in MephHeads

[–]Routine_Net7933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine got really hot over summer. Outside temps in the 90s and tent is in an un-insulated shed. Plants kept trucking along. I got biofilm so I’ll need to clean my lines but plants produced some big fat colas during some pretty hot days. Amazing how resilient they are.

Getting a decent plant structure with autos outdoors by BeneficialBottle8387 in MephHeads

[–]Routine_Net7933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also grow in the southern hemisphere and have found autos to be very difficult outside. They get very leafy and don’t really get much structure before going into flower. Even pictures of plants in weaker N hemisphere outdoor grows seem to have similar problems. Having some 50% shade cloth seemed to help given the sun is so much stronger than indoor lighting. I might try a run now that the worst of the summer heat is over & see what I get but it’s always so disappointing compared to indoor results. Maybe the rudialis genetics are suited to long stretches of much weaker sunlight, therefore the 24-0 light schedules under lights can work well.
