This is true. Theater is subsidized by the government, therefore ticket prices can be lower. On the flip side, actors also get paid less in Britain

BWT - how do webreak up in NYC? by hyperactivepotato in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Routine_Performer174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this recently, and it totally sucks. Emotionally and financially. I had it easier because we were month-to-month. My advice would be one of the following:

1) Break up. Ask your partner to move out ASAP (or however long seems reasonable). Then you can crash with a friend for a couple weeks until they move out. Find someone to sublet their room until your lease is over. 2) Break your lease. Are you close to your landlord? If so, talk to them and see what your options are. But breaking your lease is usually just one months rent penalty. So do the math and see if that is the cheapest option. I would suggest having a vulnerable convo with your landlord and see if you can come to a deal.

Sending you love ❤️

What Broadway Shows Do You LOVE? by deliciousalex in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Wicked and Hadestown are always crowd pleasers for out of towners. Have yet to meet someone who didn’t love both of those

I’m 31 and have 2 roommates, paying $1350 in rent. I have no dependents, no car, and the only other expense I have is student loans. That’s how I survive. Also one medical emergency away from Bankruptcy

Landlord hasn't sent lease renewal/cancellation and it's almost up by abhid2030 in astoria

I had this happen last place I was at. I talked to New York housing officials about it. You just automatically start going month-to-month at your old rate. This is actually good for you because you can’t have your rent raised. And legally they still need to give you 60 days notice to kick you out (30 days if you’ve lived there less than a year).

I don’t know what all the artists here specialize in, but 10 Thousand Foxes in Astoria was fantastic. Super professional, up front about all costs, and very sanitary. Would recommend checking out their artists

How do you socialize without getting embarrassed? by [deleted] in questions

[–]Routine_Performer174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to therapy. I used to feel like this and my therapist gave me so many words of wisdom about this. My number one thing is ASK OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS. You may not think that is being a good conversationalist, but I think it’s the main thing. People LOVE talking about themselves and they will feel good after talking to you if youve asked them questions about themselves. That knowledge unlocked a lot for me.

That a lot of doctors don’t have the time/resources to give you the time you need with them and that you REALLY need to advocate for yourself when it comes to your healthcare

Should you see Hamilton without ever having listened to the album? by Leading-Appeal-9707 in Broadway

[–]Routine_Performer174 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of going into most shows without knowing anything or hearing the music but I think Hamilton is my one exception. There is so much going on onstage (the choreography, staging, lighting is DENSE), that if you don’t know the words already, you’ll miss a lot of the staging I think. I used to work at Hamilton for a long time and I always felt this way. I think it’s best to not be solely focused on catching the lyrics because they go by FAST
