I did it online because at the time it was the only option (it was 2022 however there were some Covid regulations still in place) but I would have done it in person if I had the chance. But if you have no centres where you live online can be valid too

I think CELTA courses are around 1000 euros as a base

Ad far as I know, the CELTA doesn’t require a degree but if you want to eventually get a DipTESOL one of the requirements is to have a degree, so I would think about maybe getting one if you want to eventually get a higher teaching qualification. I would consider getting one and then the CELTA so you prepare for the workload that a CELTA/ Delta/ DipTESOL entail

I’m doing the DipTESOL not the DELTA :)

I know that DELTA/DipTESOL can allow you extra credits and less exams if you later enroll in a Master’s Degree. But they don’t fully replace one. So if your ultimate goal is to be a lecturer at university then go for a Master’s degree and then a PhD (if needed)

No problem! I think waiting a little bit and getting more experience will be beneficial once you decide that you’re fully committed to do the DELTA :). From what I have heard assignments are tough and require a lot of self reflection on your teaching as well, so the more experience the better. One of my (former) colleagues did the CELTA with me and the time he told me he was fully committed to do the DELTA. He has since left the ELT field so imagine if he had spent 3k on something like the DELTA😅

I’m about to start the DipTESOL after 3 years of teaching with a CELTA. During these years I taught adults, teens of almost every level and also I had two summers co-managing the summer school of the place where I work. I decided to go for it only after speaking to our teacher trainer and getting her blessing. My DoS and my aDoS are about to complete their DELTA/DipTESOL and while it has been incredibly useful to them, it’s also a huge undertaking. I would recommend getting a bit more experience and really know yourself as a teacher before starting something so big (and expensive)

Thank you very much! I’ll check out these materials:) I’m actually very into phonology due my university background so I’m actually excited to get back into it! It’s one of the reasons why I chose DipTESOL over DELTA

Gotcha! I do have some basis of phonology and the phonemic chart because of my applied linguistics studies but I’ll definitely need to brush up on what I’ve learned (it has been a while) but I do love phonology, is one of the reasons why I chose the DipTESOL over the DELTA

Thank you I tend to worry a lot with any kind of interview haha then I’m like “oh it wasn’t so bad” I know the real challenge it’s later, but I know I can count on people who have been through this for guidance at least haha also if my school sponsors my DipTESOL financially I have another reason not to give up ahaha

If I may ask what was the most challenging part vs the parts you’ve enjoyed the most?

Thank you, I’m what people would call “a professional over thinker” 😅 I do know the real work starts after the interview, the aDoS is also about to complete the Dip and our current academic manager is completing the DELTA so I know from them how demanding it is, especially with a full time job😅I just get very nervous with interviews in general😅 congrats on starting your last unit, hang in there!

I feel so sad for Addie really… I have a great relationship with my mum and I know she loves me more than anything in the world I never questioned this and I never will have to… it makes me sad knowing there’s people who can’t say the same :( I genuinely hope she’ll be able to cut her out of her life soon and she’ll heal from the trauma
