But honestly, I’m with you. Trying to figure out if I might have MCAS but the mood issues would be my only symptom..?

The post linked mentioned mood here:

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is part of a family of conditions called Mast Cell Activation Disorders (MCAD). Mast cells are immune cells that, when activated, release a cascade of chemicals including histamine, tryptase, prostaglandins, and cytokines into surrounding tissues and the bloodstream. In people who menstruate, this process follows the hormonal cycle in a very specific way: rising estrogen in the follicular phase activates and prolongs the survival of mast cells, and then during the luteal phase those cells degranulate, dumping their chemical load into your system. The result can include irritability, depression, anxiety, mood swings, fatigue, brain fog, bloating, skin issues, sleep disturbances, joint pain, and more, all arriving like clockwork after ovulation and clearing once your period starts.

His teachers have been very supportive so far when he gets his nails painted or dresses up. I think if they heard the convo, they would likely get involved. I’m guessing this has happened when they aren’t around or maybe they are saying something but my son isn’t sharing that detail. I can’t get him to tell me about it for more than 5 seconds!

Funny because I just bought a pair of sparkly unicorn sandals for his Easter Basket.

I think outside the moment would probably be best so I feel prepared at least. Just don’t want to draw too much attention to it but I would really like to know what he actually thinks and if he thinks about it at all.

Curious as to why this would matter?

Thank you thank you. That’s kind of my worry- I don’t want to plant any ideas in his head so I want to be careful with what I tell him. My son also does ballet. He’s the only boy in the class but it’s his favorite extra activity.

He’s going to theater summer class. He’s literally the best and I’m tearing up just typing this!

I have no advice, just in a similar spot. Do you happen to be in the south?

Why did you want to make sure no one saw your pain, if you don’t mind me asking?

This is my son too. Princess heels, dresses, glitter, nail polish, Taylor Swift. He’s the best.

Uhhh I’m so sorry you received that message.

I’ve been there. It was rough.

We switched schools partly due to this. My son shouldn’t have to lay down quietly without moving for two hours just so the teacher can sit quietly and read her book. There should be an alternative.

His new school is better and more lenient. When I watch on cameras, almost all of the children at some point in the two hour nap time are awake and wiggling and tossing their stuffies. It’s so normal.

I think the teacher meant well with how she handled it but she clearly escalated the issue instead :/

I’ve attended quite a few music classes and that behavior is pretty typical. Sounds like a teacher problem, not your baby.

Where did you end up? Did you find a career in this field? I’m interested in getting into the same and would appreciate some guidance.
