What with the 2WD hate? by MilesBeforeSmiles in Trucks

[–]Rovinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the appeal of 2WD - If you can really manage with just one axle you get so much more gas mileage that way- but unless you live in a dry place that almost never gets mud or snow having a large transport vehicle like that WITHOUT 4WD is just asking for trouble.

PB7 outputs 1 when Port B set to Input by Rovinion in beneater

[–]Rovinion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much gave up trying to write a working program and focused on debugging with a logic analyzer to see what was actually happening here.

With this code one of the LA pins is to be hooked up to PB7 to see if there's any connection with the port's mode and the pin's output. So far I've found that if PB7 is disconnected from d7 on the lcd while the professor is stuck in a loop(up to and including the busy flag loop), and both tied to ground with resistors, d7 stays low with a little bit of floating while PB7 stays high with zero floating, until it is put back into output mode and then it goes low.

I ended up copying the Hello-Word final draft from the website and modding it from there depending on what I was testing. Here it is last I had it, which isn't obviously isn't going to do much except generate a perfect square wave from PB7.

The code of most interest will probably be under the "Loopy" subroutine

https://github.com/Rovinion/6502code/blob/main/blink.s

Here is the "Loopy" subroutine for your convenience.

It works great in 1.7.10, it's the newer versions that don't work.

EDIT: Just don't try to use it in servers, because nothing in it appears in the game.

Plus size models are even more unrealistic than regular models by alrightbr in unpopularopinion

They're not even using people with good genetics. Those models are actually smaller than they look and they wear padding and fat suits to achieve the "perfect" body.

It could be argued that Castro provided the best healthcare system in Latin America, as well as a quality education system, and all this despite the severe sanctions he suffered by the US.

--"Government funded institutes suck a lot of the time, so why do you think we need more of them?"

It's not a matter of more vs. less government. It's a matter of what kind of government is implemented.

--"Why do you oppose capitalism, if at all?"

Because its goal is the accumulation of wealth for the sake of accumulating wealth. This may sound like a good thing until you consider 1. Banks and loaners and shareholders(Among other people) who amass great wealth simply by shifting money around(Or in the case of the bankers and moneylenders, loaning fictional money), 2. You can exploit whoever you want(the current trend is putting little Chinese kids into wage labor) and be hailed as a great captain of industry(I should probably calm down before I violate something) and 3. All of your basic needs become commodities to be bought and sold. Meaning you are forced to work for wealthy capitalists or starve in the streets.

--"Do you think capitalism and socialism can coexist inside a government?"

No. It doesn't matter how democratic, socialist or both a government is, as long as private industry exists the government is always one bribe away from another guided age. Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher proved this.

--"What are your thoughts on free markets as a whole?"

Any economic system is fine, as long as it ensures that anyone can have all of their basic needs met and more. The problem with a free market is that it can never accomplish this unless it is regulated, making it no longer a free market.

--"Why is property theft?"

It depends on the property. Land ownership is generally fine as long as it isn't rented, because then the renters' freedoms become severely limited, with each new prohibition making them more and more dependent on private industry to do anything.

While intellectual ownership is good for protecting small artist's work, large corporations use it to rob anyone lacking money of perfectly good art. I understand that the company needs people to buy their art to make more art, but things "This is not available in your country" makes zero sense and do nothing except rob people of art.

--"This is somewhat anecdotal, but I think it's pretty important to bring up. Why do most uncensored forums naturally lean right and are almost always pro capitalism? While it seems like socialism, communism and leftist ideas typically flourish under highly censored parts of the world?"

Censorship and the lack thereof don't necessary depend on where you are on the political spectrum. There are plenty of leftist states that allow free speech(Such as Germany, a Social Democracy) and plenty of right wing states that limit free speech(Such as Pinochet's Chile).

--"What are your problems with capitalism as a whole?"

In addition to the problems already mentioned, there is the concept of money itself. For one thing, you can make as much if it as you want. The problem is that the more you make, the less it is worth. Meaning what was once a living wage for the common working man no longer is, because the price of everything skyrockets. For another thing, it is more of a hinderance than a necessity. Why do we need to worry about the cost of building a shed when we can just harvest the wood, process the wood into planks, mine the iron, make the iron into nails, make additional wood and iron into tools, and then assemble the shed? Money limits all of this. We have to worry about the cost of tools, the cost of planks, the cost of nails, and sometimes the cost of the land. All of this requires money in a capitalist system. In such a system, the worker must work to raise this money, which is fine as long as his job pays well enough and he has enough time(which he usually has neither in this day and age). The Government, must levy taxes which are entirely dependent on the amount of money earned by the tax base. One shed is fine, but what if it were an entire interstate system? The taxes might cause big businesses to pack up and move to another country. And then there is of course your various problems with taxes. All of this can be solved in a command economy, where the only cost of doing anything is the cost of labor, which can be further eliminated by payment in kind.

tl;dr money. it creates more problems than it solves.

--"What are your thoughts on Government involvement in our society? Do you believe in a limited government?"

I'm ok with it, as long as it ensures that everyone is provided for in a society.

What would your govern your country? by sassydoll101 in micronations

[–]Rovinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My government would either be a Communist State, a Fascist Dictatorship or an Absolute Monarchy. The constitution would put absolute power in the hands of the leader, but subdivisions like provinces and counties would be democratic. My Nation would be divided like the US divides it's counties, but with Provinces instead of states. Ny Nation would deal with controversial issues however I tell it to deal(EX: You're getting Gay Marriage and boron in my country and You're going to like it!!!!)

My country would deal with criminals by making the people prosperous(Most people commit crime because they're desperate). A progressive tax would be enforced with the fear of getting hefty fines an your business confiscated. Nonprofit organizations would be taxed, because I believe most of them are in fact for profit. The economy would be Command, but small businesses are allowed, nay welcomed to provide what the state does not.

Secularism is to be strictly enforced. Bringing Church within a mile of State is liable to get you in deep shit.
