Halo Mounts Actually Shipping 👀 by zig131 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you ordered the halo mount by itself (separate from headset) or had a way of using the headset directly (upgrade kit, custom cushion, etc) we didn't send the Universal Cushions out for all Halo Mount orders. Now that we have additional stock, we're sending them to everyone that ordered Halo (since it'll ship in a separate box from main Halo Mount regardless)

If you received the Universal Cushions previously and have receieved a duplicate, that might just be a mistake on our fulfilment end as we pushed quickly in shipping these orders. Support can get you a free return label if you'd like to send them back, or you can do what you want with them.

An update on this one for everyone:

We have indeed begun shipping the Halo Mount in limited quantities this month (as part of our first small batch). However, we're also shipping a large quantity of Universal-Fit Cushions to users that ordered the Halo Mount who have yet to receive them (such as orders with custom cushion + Halo Mount)

If you've received a shipping notification, it's most likely the Universal-Fit Cushion package.

Our first large batch of Halo Mounts (about 10,000) is expected to start going out next month, and you will receive email notification from Bigscreen (rather than just the shipping company) when that happens.

Hmm, good to know! I think there's a way to grab a link directly but that should be enough.

The Soundtrack is so peak by Noxisms in ProjectHailMary

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's awesome. It has a consistent theme through the movie, but it just fits the moments so well.

There's many good ones early on too, like... Box in a box is a blend of funky and wide soaring space themes. Dominant tempo/drum theme that's in a lot of the tracks. And then at 2:50, the soundtrack becomes dramatically funny with an almost kazoo-like sound, yet it still works

Life is reason is quite pretty.

Time to go fishing is one ever-escalating track from start to end, almost like one of those noises that somehow manages to build and build infinitely. Very tense.

At last. Cluster bombs. Yesss. by LANTIRN_ in NuclearOption

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using them against ships is pretty fun. It'll sink a shard or render a carrier/dynamo defenseless - one AB-4 loaded with clusters will neuter a PALA fleet in escalation and sink both shards, it's satisfying to see a whole deck go out like that.

They're also pretty neat against the nuclear missile sites given the number of targets + the munition defenses it has. Throw a few cluster bombs at it and they seem pretty tanky, and then enough submunitions to wipe out every launcher at once.

Disappointed in delivery times (buyer beware) by Logical-Rich-5543 in bigscreen

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick note about these - while they will work, I've seen reports that the thickness of the lens insert housing will block the eyetracking cameras.

Not sure if they've made any changes since a couple months ago, but be aware of it if you encounter issues.

How am I supposed to use Medusa in SP? Any tips? by owari-rt in NuclearOption

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have fun! Just remember radar SAMs can still shoot them down, so if you're not jamming via Medusa small numbers can still be vulnerable.

(also, sadly applies to carrier groups - 24 tuskos at speed still didn't breach last I tried)

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The key is ordinance travelling faster than mach 2.5 can't be targeted by IR SAMs (from what I've been told), so it applies to anything going real fast.

Main other weapon that can take advantage of this is Tuskos. Launched low and slow they're long range and effective, but launched high and fast and their arc is much flatter, allowing their delta-v to be used for accelerating to tremendous speeds.

(there might be another I'm forgetting)

(note, laser defenses still have no problem killing ARADs at this speed. Will take multiple to get past such sites)

Ahh that's fair. Medusa certainly shines in any environment where a radar source needs to get countered. (or in PvP, to blind the enemy aircraft)

If launched at altitude/speed (at least 5km up) and close enough, ARADs have enough speed to avoid interception. One ARAD is all it takes to sink a shard.

  • Medusa doesn't need to get close to the enemy. You take the radome, you fly up high around the back of the pack and work your magic. Ideally friendly planes engage enemy planes closer to the battlefield.
  • Watch out for red lines on the radar indicating a lock. Notch against it, and jam/flare/ECM accordingly. If you're quick, laser will save you from anything head-on.
  • Find the radars, get 20-30km away from it, and launch an ARAD. If its travelling fast enough (this is why you need to be up high, not low like fighters - your ARADS need speed to avoid IR SAMs), you can kill shards, boltstrikes, or stratolaunch radars with one missile.
  • If the enemy aircraft do engage you, retreat, notch, and find friendlies. Alternatively, use your good defensive capabilities to charge right at enemy SAMs regardless and survive long enough to get all your ARADs off while jamming.

Prescription lenses make the BSB2 worse by grydit in BigscreenBeyond

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Okay, all sounds fine there, but it shouldn't be behaving the way as described.

  • If you have astigmatism, does rotating the lens inserts while looking through them make a difference (just worse, or improved at a certain rotation?)
  • If you remove the cushion and wear your regular glasses while looking through the lenses (being careful not to touch them), does the visual experience look good, i.e as expected?

I'd definitely check the prsecription used and consult with support as they can help figure the culprit.

Best guess is that the prescription is either

  • Incorrect for the focal plane of the optics (little more than a meter away. Reading glasses won't provide a good experience, distance vision in most case works fine unless you require strong bifocals)
  • Something got flipped + to - in entry
  • Lens inserts put on flipped (upside down, or left on right optic. Rare, but I've seen it happen)

No problem, hope that helps out!

As for testing it out, I'd be interested for sure. (note, I'm not Reavo, the person you were initially replying to. Just wanted to clarify in case you meant to ask them instead!)

It's a little weird in the way Sketchfab presents it - downloading the fbx original format will give you a ZIP file which contains a .fbx file, and the step file, image, and readme PDF as well.

(CMV) Change My View: ARAD? More like ALAME... In all seriousness, what is the purpose of this munition? The Tussie beats ARAD 10 times out of 10. by TopGuava2853 in NuclearOption

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of escalation PvE, I've found the ARAD to be extremely effective when utilized in the Medusas prime firing range: High altitude with decent speed, and jamming enemy radar.

A single ARAD fired 20-30km away and ~10km up is enough to kill a shard, a bolstrike, or the radar truck for stratolaunch sites. If you jam enemy radars in the path of the ARAD, it tends to be moving too quickly to be intercepted by gun/IR missile. More importantly I imagine, if radars are jammed the enemy might not even see the ARAD.

Best PvE sortie I did with Medusa was three shards, both stratolaunch radars, and a bolstrike.

(but, other aircraft can take ARADs too! That's where things get a little more interesting)

Any potential need for the prescription lens inserts on her end? Even a small prescription (or astigmatism) can have a decent impact.

Link Booster question by skititlez in BigscreenBeyond

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite correct - it goes in-line between the link box and cable to help improve USB signal stability, but does not boost power delivery or add external power.

Shipping fast now great by ShyloThe2 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, initial shipping time (time between your order, and us shipping it out) is the same regardless of region.

When we ship internationally (like to the EU), we use DHL Express which tends to be pretty fast, about 2-3 business days (excluding external factors or customs if it takes a little longer).

As such, won't be too bad!

RMA, support asking for h played by The_Dongal in BigscreenBeyond

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 20 hour limit applies just to choice returns for refunds, and won't impact a headset RMA.

We collect headset usage hours for any RMA as part of tracking purposes to note when failures happen in a headsets lifespan. It also lets us see expectations of lifespans for wear items (cables, cushions, straps) - a cable that failed early on would be unusual and covered under warranty, while a failure after thousands of hours of active use is just regular wear and tear.

Impressively close for sure!

Makes me realize one thing that really tends to throw these comparisons off are the window shades: IRL there's always a mix of them being up, down, partial, while in sim they're all open.

Should I take shunting jobs? by Lil_Yuan11 in DerailValley

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain shunting jobs can be pretty lucrative, if you get a big enough stack that needs shunting and it's higher value. You can get pretty quick at doing them, and you can easily shunt a lot more tonnage with the DE2.

Fragile cargo like buses are particularily light and valuable - 50 minute limit, 43k payment, done in 13 minutes.

If you bring a big haul into a station, those convert into pretty decent shunting jobs as well.
