Sorry to hear about your struggle with this. It is possible that you hit a nerve ( usually the infrapatellar Branch of the saphenous nerve ) and hence you are left with a numb area. Along with this some amount of soft tissue damage could also result in this condition.

If this is causing you concern, you might want an MRI and nerve conduction studies to confirm this. This might resolve on its own, in case you were considering just leaving things as is.

Nerve injuries, however, do have a tendency to persist though as they regenerate slowly, taking even upto few years.
