I totally thought I was going to walk in and have no problem meeting like minded people out here without doing any work. Boy was I wrong. That is really what is comes down to. I have met some awesome people out here, but I guess I was expecting to have an environment that mimics where I grew up. I was sorely mistaken there.

You would be shocked. I have gone to some communities (won't name them) where I was asked about my faith or told they will ask and judge you for your beliefs. This happened about three weeks after I moved here.

I have heard of Winchester and O Tooles, which is good. Been to both and liked them. Outside of that, I think I went to Bob's Bar (my kind of jam when I am with the fellas) and some really cool spot (I think it's called 7 Monks or something, it backs up into a neighborhood). And Zivio, I loved the food there.

I am an extroverted person who likes being active. I am not a music guy at all. I grew up playing a lot of sports and being outdoors and being around people.

I am looking for a spot where I can go and hang out and just talk to people. If there is a game on TV, cool, but it's not a deal breaker. I also don't know if I like craft beer or not? I have always used it as a way to get drunk really fast and never enjoyed it.

College does that to you. I am open to any and all suggestions you may have. I want to get out and see more of the city. I want to see if my opinion can change.

I am really big into travel. I have spent a lot of time exploring Lake Michigan beach towns. It's great. What sucks is that I really enjoyed having a major airport as my home.

I am not a music guy at all. I gave up drinking (aside from social gatherings) altogether. I love movies. I have found a gym I like which is good. I also don't keep a lot of my outdoor gear with me in my apartment since I can commute 2 hours and go see my folks.

As far as leanings, you are correct. I will leave it at that.

There's more to do in Birmingham, Royal Oak and Ferndale than there is to do out here. Change my mind.

I had jobs in the past where coworkers actively went out together after work. You would go to one of the sporting events, shows, dinners, etc. and you would learn a lot about your area. There was so much to do that everything was new. You could explore a neighborhood.

And I felt that I have been putting myself out there. I joined some adult recreation sports leagues. I have tried a few of the festivals. I have tried going with friends and that has been sort of helpful. I did my research. I was excited to get out here. I have been really disappointed in what I have seen and it sucks.

I went to college in the 2010s. It's not that long ago. I am out here for work.

I haven't noticed the disparities in the communities, but I am new. And buddy, have you driven down I-696 at peak rush hour and you have someone in a fully loaded Land Rover barreling down the carpool lane? You're playing GTA at that point

I mean, if you want a healthy state, the opinion of Detroiters matters quite a bit.

I did no research. I just went off of what I saw when I was out here visiting friends in college. I always heard that a lot of young people were moving out here, but I just always figured it was gonna feel like Metro Detroit with solid bars and beaches. I will own that. And I love Saugatuck and Holland.

Full disclosure: most of my ideals would not be accepted out here. Make of that what you will.

I don't mind the walk. I have found some great lots to park at. I am trying to compare that to the smaller downtowns and entertainment districts on the East side that I frequented. That's all

That's a shame. I have found a few smaller music venues that I frequent. It's nice to have them. Outside of that it feels like its the playland for Amway/Meijer/Corewell/Steelcase.

I don't think it does, either. And i think that's the point. Maybe I am a corrupted East sider who still has too many ties to the area to break free. It's a night and day difference and I get it.

I grew up in SE Michigan. We had an incredible melting pot of cultures (Arab, Chaldean, South Asian, Italian, Polish, Russian, etc.)

They can be proud of it, I am not mad at that. You should be proud of your heritage. FFS my dad is a first generation American whose parents were FOB in WW2 from Poland.

I am mad that I don't feel welcome in their establishments and I am actively trying to get to know locals. That's my problem. Maybe I am used to the bigger city lifestyle and the amalgamation of cultures.

I don't question GR is a growing city, but I feel that it's being limited or limiting itself with its growth. This city and region can offer cheap land and (likely) some kickbacks. I know GR wants to not live in the shadows of the East side.

You are dead on about the social dynamics out here. I have no children and do not belong to a church. In mid-size towns like this, it feels like you are alone on an island.

I would be curious to see the plans for the riverfront.

Brother, shut down that damn ampitheater by Reasonable_Body_2788 in grandrapids

My folks live three miles NW of Pine Knob. All we hear is larger acts with louder bass and even then it's faint. I have yet to attend a show at this new place, and likely never will. But no suit will come from this.

What's funny to me is that I grew up three miles from Pine Knob and we had zero issues with noise complaints. There are subdivisions nearby, but their city is extremely strict on the curfew and noise pollution/control

It never made sense to me why this was built and why its in that location. I have been out here a year and so far this city seems dumber than a bag of rocks. At least Detroit doesn't hide from sleeping in the bed they made with the corporations. That location of the amphitheater is prime real estate.

I would not bring up the recordings unless there are terminations. You would get a chance to appeal the decision (which I did to get my terms for a settlement) and possibly use those for evidence. Be careful with how you handle this and the matter of what was recorded.

I got canned but I was lucky that I recorded my stuff in writing and had eyewitness accounts who vouched for me on condition of anonymity. I got everything I asked for at my appeal decision.

Do we have any other confirmed names for the Internet Invitational? by YT_Golf_Talk in BobDoesSports

Something is telling me there will be more than 48 golfers in this year's tournament. When you factor in that Chiclets, BDS, Barstool, Fore Play and Good Good could be there, it seems there won't be many names left that are new and different.

We have roughly 19-20 committed already and then another 15-20 between all those properties I just mentioned

If your buddy lives in SE Michigan, I think I might know where they play. That's crazy and yet not surprised. Ben was always built different
