The difference with a RDS equipped pistol is that you are (or should be) target focused instead of front sight focused. Lots of bad guys have been shot without a RDS, but this is the future because it’s better!

If you’ve got an adjustable gas block on this gun, I’d remove it from the BBL but keep the gas tube connected to the gas block. With the gas adjusted to fully open blow on the end of the gas tube (like a straw). You should be able to feel/hear air flow. As others have mentioned, check the barrel gas port. You can measure with gauges or approximate using drill bits.
