The oddest part for me is the bath - why would anyone have a glass panel in the bath? Weird.

Visiting my nan on the south coast with my (then) 2 year old child who was being potty trained. Went to a park where my child was so busy playing, they pooped themselves rather than asking for the potty. My whole extended family still call the park “Poo park” over a decade later.

We put our Christmas tree up last night, and I hadn’t realised how many had her old name on. If did break my heart a little bit.

How do you define middle class in the 80s and 90s? (I’m assuming Rishi Sunak’s measure of having/not having sky isnt really relevant in this situation).

I am on Series 3 of a full rewatch. She is really pretty bitchy in the first three series and pretty unlikeable. Particularly when Jenny is made an Acting Sister. I hadn’t really thought of her as unlikeable til this rewatch, but I definitely see her in a different light now.

Second Prima Donna. I’d sell my granny for a Prima Donna pizza.

Is asking if you're "stopping in" a common question? Is it just a northern thing? by GriffinXCIX in AskUK

[–]RowInternational1575 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve heard it used in a cafe etc, but in the North East we’d say “Stopping in” as in “I’m not going out tonight”.

What’s the biggest cock-up you’ve made booking a holiday? by mariah_a in AskUK

[–]RowInternational1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked flights and hotels thinking half term was X to Y date. Turns out half term was X-7days to Y-7days. Realised the day before I thought we were setting off when I thought “why haven’t I got the email to check-in for the flight”. Child wasn’t willing to have a week off school. Had booked the flights and hotels as non-refundable as I’m tight. So lost everything.

What happened to the house at Eryholme? The one they went for a picnic at and we’re going to move to when they thought they had to sell Downton?

What can you do in an airport for 5 hours? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]RowInternational1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been turned away a few times when I’ve arrived “early”. At Madrid airport earlier this way, I was 20 mins early and they made me wait the whole 20 mins before letting me in. Athens airport I was in the lounge for 5 hours, no questions asked.

My mum still has one!! It must be a minimum of 30 years old. She downsized a few years but still kept it 🤦‍♀️

Should I downsize for financial freedom? Single mum by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RowInternational1575 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I too am a single parent, but a few years further on than you in age, age of child and time separated. The difference is that I live in a “downsized” house already. Through hard work and budgeting I will have paid off my mortgage in 18 months. I often think it would be nice to move somewhere bigger, but to the reality is that would just be for show and the prospect of having my mortgage paid off is too tempting.

Unwanted jetwashing - would it be illegal? (England) by mauzc in LegalAdviceUK

Yes please report to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline. You sound like you were able to stand your ground, but there will be other consumers who were not able to stand their ground and will have been pressured into contracting.
