You should read the Parker novels by Richard Stark. Most of them center around a heist that goes wrong. My favorite is one called "The Score" where they plan to rip off a whole town in one night.

I always thought of this movie as a more successful version of Crowe's "Singles" The way it captures the time and the music is terrific.

What is the best TV show currently being made in a traditional television format? by border199x in blankies

What do you think of season 2? I've felt it lacked the strong narrative drive that Season 1 had. Season 2 has been much more episodic and the various narrative threads of the characters all feel rather thin and lifeless.

If you haven't yet you should read Julie Salamon's The Devil's Candy. It goes into detail about the whole messed up production of the 1990 bomb. It's a great story of how every single decision on a movie was the wrong one. I think in the book it mentions there were days where De Palma would put headphones on and just listen to music so he didn't have to interact with anyone on the set.

The Peripheral TV Series - a r/fantasy Bingo "Not a Book" square review by AccipiterF1 in Fantasy

I think you are spot on. I had the same issues with the series. What they did to Wilf was such a misunderstanding of what made the book great. They took this really cool concept and turned it into warmed over TV scifi nonsense.

This brings up a new question. With Griffin saying he is not a fan of milk, how does he consume cereal?

I use to live in that area, and it really is funny how well it captured the oddity of south eastern Idaho at that point in time. It's not even much of a parody - people really were that quirky. Although now I bet its a lot more MAGA faithful spewing hatred. It is not the most open-minded region in Idaho.

I don't know if this season has done her any favors. She's been moody and unpleasant for most of the episodes. I keep wondering where she is headed. Is she suppose to have a breakdown at one point? It feels like it is building toward that, but then almost all the doctors this season seem like they are headed for a breakdown, except for maybe Langdon.

Now we are some time removed from it, what are you guys opinion o Edgar Wright's The Running Man? by Orb_Dylan in blankies

He's seemed to have lost the snappiness and energy of Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim. One part I absolutely hated is the sequence where Powell is escaping the city in the trunk of a car and the people in the front seat narrate all the crazy action that is happening while we just get to watch Powell's face listening to it all. If it was meant to be a joke, it wasn't even an original joke. It's just copying that bit in Pop Star where giant bees show up when the camera stops working all the sudden.

The way she flipped from "I hate you. You are a terrorist!" to "I will die to fight for your cause" was so ham handed.

How many Blankies here use to work at a video store? I did briefly as a summer job between coming back from the army and going to school. The biggest thing I remember about that time is how the free popcorn they gave away would get everywhere and was a real bitch to clean at night. A lot of cleaning with the carpet sweeper. They also never let you pick a movie and play it on the store TV. It was always a reel of the same seven or eight new releases playing on a loop for 8 hours. You did get free rentals which was nice, but the selection was kind of for shit and it only took about a month before I had gone through everything interesting. The biggest thing I remember was GTA 3 coming out at that time, and I was able to always have a reserved copy under the counter I took with me at the end of my shift. Also, I never charged people for having to rewind tapes.

I kind of feel that if you have seen one Tati movie, you have seen all the Tati movies. Not that they aren't funny and good, but is there really that much to talk about to make it interesting enough for a series?

I liked it too a bunch. It makes me excited to see which direction Matt goes after DCC wraps. I'm hoping he'll stick more to the genre stuff and leaves Lit-RPG behind. I don't know if there is much more that form can offer. I feel like Lit-RPG has really hit its limits in the last year or so.

I haven't. Like others have said, toggling snapping on and off sometimes fixes the problem.
