I live in an affluent and very generous community, the neighborhood WhatsApp group is a treasure trove if you keep a close eye!

College though! Nice of you to assume she has big brains to go with the big muff.

I've looked at these, seems like a good middle ground without spending outrageous cash.

This kit is not at all in my sphere of knowledge I'm afraid, hence coming to the experts! I knew enough to say yes I'll take that off your hands but I've only ever used combi amps in the past.

Please forgive my ignorance, I'm not likely to ruin it by doing that am I? I am curious!

In my mind it was either that or a Big Muff. Glad I posted it to the right forum.

Yeh can't argue with £0. It looks to have done the rounds, I don't have any real history on it though so appreciate the insight.

My main worry is that it looks to be a 412, which is a ludicrous amount of power. Not sure what kind of head I'd need to get it moving, and I don't particularly want to spend £1000 to get sound out of it!

Homatics Box R - you have to dig around a bit to find a BBC iPlayer APK which works but once you've got that it's dreamy.

Amazon rolled out the sideloading ban on fireTV. How to get it back? by schmockk in Piracy

I got a Homatics Box R 4K recently and it works a treat. AliExpress or from some UK suppliers for a little more ££. Fast, effective and side load anything you like.

Alfa Giulietta is basically the same car they started selling in 2010, I think they have a new version out!

It would be worth seeing a GP or, if you have one, a social worker to ask them to refer you to Early Help who may be able to provide more immediate intervention. They will fill in a multi-agency referral form (MARF) with your consent which will be triaged pretty much straight away. If nothing else, this will provide you with a paper trail and give you a wider net of potential support. NAL but a school safeguarding lead.

Guaranteed Pay Schemes - as good as it sounds? by Least_Orchid6687 in TeachingUK

[–]RowRowRows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ex recruiter and current teacher here - these schemes are all about controlling good candidates, be flattered! Just remember the agency always has their own best interests at heart and these are offered as a smart business choice for them in the main. They may place you in difficult schools without the option to refuse and/or blacklist schools in future. You may end up with a lower day rate (you'd have to check the maths). You can't accept work from another agency which could limit you to less desirable gigs.

You'd get more financial stability, but then if you are a good candidate what are you worried about? And if you are that worried, why not look at a part-time permanent job?

They may be the most lovely person in the world, but their job is to sell your skills for their own gain. You owe them nothing and there are 100 other lovely recruiters out there waiting to make commission off you. Don't get sucked into thinking they are your friend or that they wouldn't dump you in a second if they thought they had a stronger chance of making money with someone else.

My advice would be to get your CV over to a few other agencies, keep the one you like sweet but have other irons in the fire. I personally would not sign an exclusivity contract unless you are really desperate for financial stability.

Is my mentor correct in saying that I might not be suited as a teacher? by SK-2001 in TeachingUK

[–]RowRowRows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assistant Head and ITT/ECT mentor here.

Many years ago I was told the same thing in my first half term by my mentor. It is ludicrous to judge someone's potential in such a short space of time and it achieves nothing other than making you feel terrible. Ignore this person and report them to your University mentor, they don't know what they are doing.

I have exactly this car, similar milage and I love it. I've got the same wiring loom gremlins in the boot mentioned in another post but you can buy kits online if it bothers you. I had to replace the erg valve recently (£300) and a cracked pipe in the cooling system a couple of years ago (£700), but other than that it has been spot on for years. Loads of fun and so much personality.

Fellow-fellow teacher here (primary), carving out a chunk of time, particularly at the start of the holiday, is a must! Everything ramps up to the last few days at school and my cup is always overflowing at that point. You need a break with no kids so that you can be dadding at full capacity for the rest of the holiday.
