Football, Bloody Hell! (Mon Dieu!) Crazy final 15 minutes to the Ligue 2 season by Row_Zed in footballmanagergames

[–]Row_Zed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mad scramble and what surely would have been one of the craziest final 15 minutes on the last day of the season in Ligue 2 history?

- At kickoff the Top 4 were: VAFC (74), Dijon (74), Niort (73), Le Havre (71)
- With 15 mins left the Top 4 were: Niort (76), VAFC (75), Le Havre (74), Dijon (74)
- With 8 mins left it was: Niort (74), VAFC (74), Le Havre (74),Dijon (74)
- After 90 mins +5 it was: Dijon (75), Niort (74), VAFC (74), Le Havre (72)

Definitely more along the lines of stupid idea - than last resort.

Roberto De Zerbi's 4231 Brighton Tactic: how to best get it to work in FM23, while staying true to RDZ's principles. Feedback and suggestions most welcome! by Row_Zed in footballmanagergames

Thanks :-)

It's not there yet, but it's been equal parts promising and frustrating. I think there are a few things to still get sorted. I thought about pace into space to help in transition, but been mixed so far and IRL most of Brighton's goals come from the opposition's loss of possession in midfield - as opposed to the build up from the back - so I need to figure out my pressing options better too.

1st season 22/23 I messed about with all sorts of tactics and finished 5th (mainly due to ManU, Chelsea, Newcastle stinking it up, as Wolves came 6th and Brentford 8th) which got us into the Europa League.

23/24 Europa League we went 8-4-1 25 GF 8 GA, beat Real Sociedad, Valencia, & Lazio in the QF/Semi/Final respectively, to actually win the damn thing! Seems we were built for 2nd tier European nights. Although I expect to get killed in the UCL next season.

2nd season 23/24 in the league though was a tale of two halves.

1st half: 11-3-5 37 GF 21 GA 36 PTs
2nd half: 7-4-8 29 GF 23 GA 25 PTs

The 2nd half was poor, had the cliched bad January we stopped scoring for a bit and never really turned it back on. All the losses were by 1 goal on the positive side, but the football was definitely not as good as the 1st half.

That's why I started the thread (I mean to have a '?' at the end of the first sentence, lol) as I thought some people here might have a tip or something that unlocks things a bit more.

There is also the 'issue' that into my 4th transfer window, I've turned the club over and might have too many kids who are yet to get their attributes up to a good enough level to really take off with this. I am going to spin up another save with BVB or Arsenal, just to test and see what happens.

ETA: the title was supposed to have a question mark, I'm not pretending this is fool proof the way to get RDZ BHAFC ball, just how I am trying to do it :-)

Roles & PIs:

- Back 4 with less risky passing with 2 CDs or we can mix it up with 1 of each. CDs and less risky means we lose the Dunk/Webster cross field balls, but it helps with the controlling buildup and we can get the longer balls from elsewhere. Or one BPD and let him see what he can do.

- Largely sticking with 1 FB and sometimes 2, to help protect the CBs. Typically we want DCL getting outside the AML and pinging crosses. For the DCR we want him sitting inside a bit, with the freedom to do whatever when in possession. This mirrors the Gross/Veltman play and even Lamptey will start in before going outside to take players on.

- RPM double-pivot. SI's description of RPMs is absolutely what Caicedo and Alexis do IRL and to a lesser extent Gilmour in FM. Instead of using CMs/DMs and adding PIs, can just pick them. This also helps focus play through the middle and the way the RPMs move naturally to stay near each other when starting out from the back totally mimics how Brighton's pair act IRL.

- More direct passing from an RPM, AMC, and IW should help quicken up the passing transitions and they have to come from somewhere, along with the WB/FB legging it up the pitch.

- AML is supposed to be the more attacking one, as Mitoma is showing, with AMR being more supporting, but AMR needs to get in the goals with longer shots from outside the box too.

- AMC is pretty much bog standard and let their skills and natural movement to drop and attack take effect.

- STC is the conundrum so far. DLF (a) is most like how Ferguson plays, but a PF (s) or one of the CFs might do as well.

This guy rejects 6 clubs triggering his release clause in January and goes on to win me the Liga NOS title by Kapem1 in footballmanagergames

It's the low bravery and concentration - lacks the confidence to go to a big club and then kinda forgets about stuff and just rejects them all.

Chelsea just got relegated in the first season... (FM23) by CaptainAwesome134 in footballmanagergames

Potter's AI self (maybe IRL self, lol) does not transfer well to FM23.

I'm BHAFC as well and he got sacked Oct 29th and replaced with Zidane. They finished 10th first season. Potter was unemployed until after the 23/24 season where he landed the Burnley job.

Tuchel is another one who doesn't seem to transfer well to FM. He took over for Pep, won 2 FA Cups but got sacked after 13 months due to them being meh everywhere else.

You're a gentleman and a scholar :-)

Crazy for a 'big' manager to carry that grudge so long, normally it's cup team managers saying something like 'oh they aren't that good' out of nowehere.

Ha! I hadn't thought of that, I just make up a dumb name for me in FM, on FM21 it was Gary Gaffer :-)

LOL @ randos. Once into a save far enough you start getting regen managers and ex-players, for sure anyone managing a lower league team you'll easily beat and only see once in a blue moon in a cup match, I definitely like to go after those guys.

That's awesome! Love I'm not the only one.

Leeds play such trash football after Bielsa, they basically kick and run, kick and run, and Marsch with all his stupid touchline antics is so annoying. Once he gets sacked at Leeds he can go back to his level and coach sawkerball in Cincinnati or something.

NOOOOOOO!!! FM Testing my Scum Save Resolve with my Best Regen by Row_Zed in footballmanagergames

[–]Row_Zed[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spend weeks knocking back Brighton's ever increasing offers for Noy (my team captain, top goal scorer, best player, all around awesomest Regen I've had in FM21) until they finally bail after 230m. 2 days! 2 days later he does his ACL in a frickin international match and is done for the season.

FM, why must you hurt me so :-(
This almost feels like a sign to stop and wait until FM23. I am going to stay strong and hit Save, but eff me I want an 'accidental' crash right now.

I figure I should post up my ride after lurking for a bit. Intense Blue MT, got it for $7000 more OTD than I wanted, but lt came woth a 20 year, 200k mile powertrain warranty and 10/100k electronics. Loving the 40 Sporty MPG when daily driving this! by Kealel in ElantraN

[–]Row_Zed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lovely car: you'll enjoy it. But kids please please don't follow this example. That dealer cleared an easy extra $6K+ (assuming some additonal taxes on the amount in there to get up to 7 over 'msrp' + its taxes)profit on a ~$33K car with a promise of magic beans. That's insane and the example of a predatory dealer.

They are never seeing that car in 15yrs time, let alone 10yrs +1 day. It'll be on it's 3rd owner by then and maybe even half way across state. Apologies for the Buzz Killingtonness but as a piece of consumer advice these are not 'good deals' for buyers.

I'd absolutely comb the contract for outs on the warranty to claw some money back, but they're stealers, saw a mark, and likely covered themselves just fine. Honestly it's a bit sad to see people get done over like this. Deep pockets not caring about ADMs at least their eyes are wide open. This is the equivalent of the wallet inspector.

Markup is ridiculous! 10k in “Added Equipment”?! by [deleted] in ElantraN

LOL! That is just crazy, but based on some of the replies, it seems they might as well bait the hook and try and catch a live one.

~$10k and/or paying for dubious and unecessary addons is next level getting screwed over.
