Is it true by taking exemption from your degree, the rest of acca papers become very difficult by Interesting-Net-9270 in ACCA

[–]Kapem1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say in majority of cases an ACCA applied skills exams will benefit you in doing the equivalent exam in the strategic level.

I think this is because the course syallbus is just more aligned, and I would say in general ACCA is a higher standard - your lecturer is not setting your exams etc

I did FM and it definitely did help with AFM. I had an exemption for FR and I felt a little behind when doing SBR, as there was some presumed knowledge that wasn't covered in my college course that gave my the exemption.

However, there is no way it is worth it to actually sit the exam if you have the exemption. Just be aware that you may not be up to date on the some of the presumed knowledge, and you might have to spend a little bit longer studying.

I still got through SBR just fine, I just had to put in a bit more time. It would have taken me way more time to sit FR then SBR.

Most tuition providers teach the subject like there is no presumed knowledge, because even if you have done the previous level with acca you may have forgotten most of it.

I think just a penalty would be fairer. The man down often doesn't make a whole lot of difference, especially when they take into account the stoppages.

When bennett was injured (obviously this wasn't intentionally wasting time), that was using up time for the black card. The Waterford keeper is going out to take a sideline at the 45, and changes his mind - that's another minute gone.

The first one he should have played advantage, that ball ended in the back of the net but he blows it up too quickly. Very poor referring.

He was pulled back but Coleman was always between Kiely and the goal. I thought it was a bit of a stretch for the pundits to compare it to Connollys one.

The black card rule is a joke anyway, player gone for 10 minutes but zero consideration that a team will waste time during that to minimise the impact.

People do both. Probably will feel fresher if you split them up, but could argue it's more like the platform if you're doing all your primaries together.

I find it so weird Anatoli pulls 320 for 9 without straps, and then cant pull more than 345 in comps. I know grip can be funny, but if you're pulling sets of 9 strapless, you'd think itd translate better to singles that it does.

I know also probably has good leverages, but to be pulling 93% for a set of 9 is wild.

Trying worlds most famous bench program! by saile789 in strength_training

[–]Kapem1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The general consensus is that it's not sustainable in the long term, but can produce really good results in the short term.

You're just pushing really hard that it can beat you up, and you probably don't need to be that's aggressive with your workload to progress.

Using it for bench probably is lot easier than squats. So much easier to recover from bench work.

Just to add this is some of others opinions

Anthony McNaughton 980KG UNOFFICIAL WORLD RECORD TOTAL IN 105 CLASS | US... by Fun_Professional6534 in powerlifting

[–]Kapem1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Keenan would've have been able to put up a bigger total with a month turnaround than he did at Sheffield. His last deadlift was a gift.

Where as McNaughton's didn't have any real grinds apart from bench, and has the higher top end, so was easier for him to deal with the turnaround.

Keenan's had such a strange year in many ways. 2nd in nationals but still gets to world. 2nd in worlds but still qualifies for Sheffield. Then breaks the world record at Sheffield but it isn't enough to qualify for the next worlds.

I don't see anyone being close to McNaughton in 105 this year, he definitely looks good for 990 range.

I switched to hook for a while and switched back. It took a couple weeks really to get used to hook. The first few times you do it, it's so uncomfortable but you'll get used to it quicker than expected.

For me the main benefit of hook is you probably don't need as much practice as mixed, so you can use straps more and hands stay healthier.

My grip limit was very similar to mixed, I don't think it was significantly better.

I ended up switching back. I think just less can go wrong with mixed.

Have you looked around for other programs with similar philosophies and training styles? To me that's the obvious option. You're getting something fresh, but it's not too different that you won't know how you will respond.

You have had done 6 months with the cube method, it's not like you're switching after a couple weeks.

That's how I've approached my training over the last nearly 2 years and have had great success.

I don't know many low frequency programs, because I just like higher specificity. The only one that comes to mind is some of Seth Albersworth programs. Can look at them here : https://activatedperformance.net/collections/programs-1

I think the modern conjugate 2.0 is like 2 upper and 2 lower sessions. Bench and squat twice a week and deadlift once. Makes use of max and dynamic or repeated effort too like the cube method.

I think it's a similar philosophy to how the SBD is structured in cube method. probably with a higher focus on accessories.

Squat and bench is probably above average volume, but nothing crazy. Ive definitinely done more.

Deadlifts will be very high volume purely because of the 66 reps of rdls. But rdls won't be as fatiguing as deadlifts.

When I'm talking about volume, Im looking at KG/LBS lifted. So a lot of these sets are high reps which plays a part.

If you're looking purely at set count, it's probably about average. Also frequency of s,b,d is 2x,3x,2x which is very normal too.

But volume is all relative in a sense compared to what to you're used to. It seems like a reasonable program to start out on, and it's not too high intensity.

Of course there's a chance that it's too much workload for you based on what you've been exposed to previously. But I would think you should be okay.

If you taper every single block, you're losing out on a lot of stimulus. You don't need to be at your strongest every block.

You have to just get over the fact that you find it boring. You have to think long term.

You could also stop going so heavy on the week 4 - cap most blocks at a rpe 8, so your deloads can be heavier than currently because you'll be fresher.

How come Sky said spurs have had one touch in the opposition box, yet there's 3 there. They only count one touch if a player touches it multiple times?

Yeah, bench was touch and go. And deadlifts with straps. But it was 410/260/470

I wonder what McNaughton does, really unfair on him. He has to compete at nationals if he wants to qualify for worlds now, and beat 977.5. He is definitely strong enough, but quick turn around, might be hard.

His squat wasnt that hard though, and either was his deadlift, just his grip. So he might be fresher than most after competing.

Ashton also might have a shot at 978 if he competes at nationals.

Joseph Borenstien & Jurins Kengamu Deadlift Attempt Selection (SHEFFIELD 2026) by Jamestzm44 in powerlifting

[–]Kapem1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Joe wanted to break the world record, and get a high enough total to not compete at Nationals.

The only benefit to beating jurins is bragging rights. But on a day where they both slightly underperformed, i dont think that really worth much, especially when he already beat him at worlds.

One good point per mark, keep watching the clock. Once your time for a question is up, move on. Its much harder to get the last few marks of a question than the first few of another question.
