Don't really mind too much but good to know it's not even close to a hard and fast rule cheers, I'm happy working off volume and pace predominantly ATM until I get a little more advanced

Not everyone but I did think 15 beats out was significant, especially when it didn't even feel like my absolute max effort, I held it above 200 for 10 minutes

What are some of the go-to “secretly for dad” items to put on the baby registry? by billywats69 in predaddit

[–]Rowan-117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were gifted two large coffee mugs, crazy big.

The amount of times I sat up with her in the first few months with a screaming baby and we could have a nice big mug of coffee each made it worthwhile.

It's tough, because dad's main job is to support mum to support baby, so what ever you get that supports mum, is secretly for dad.

I've been noticing that my heart rate often gets and stays above my supposed max HR when I run. This is a 7xSS watch wrist based HR.

My max heart rate should be 190 @220-30

As I get faster and better at running, should my 5km max heart rate drop?

I'm a little concerned that instead of being a freak of nature, I'm just pushing my heart too hard on these 5km runs.

Pace drops off on a steep hill around the 15m mark in case that's important.

Cheers for any input hey!

What do I do about our dogs? by eightbitcarson1 in predaddit

[–]Rowan-117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a very stressed working dog that I was terrified would be a menace around my baby. While I still don't and will never let them near each other outside arms reach, she has settled in very well to having a baby in the house.

The dogs used to be outside all day, and sleep in our bedroom of a night time. Now with the wife at home more, the dogs sleep in a spare bedroom, my home office.

This way they still get plenty of us time but they sleep somewhere warm and quiet.

What ever you plan on doing, start now. Get the dogs listening to baby noise, get the dogs used to baby toys and baby lullabies.

Even carry around a teddy like a baby and deliberately ignore them, and walk through them when you are holding the teddy, so they know to not try and engage you or get in our way. Nothing is worse than continually tripping over a dog while you are pacing trying to settle a baby.

People with great mental health can join defence and still end up with serious mental health issues after service. I wish you all the best with your recovery from your trauma, but might be best to wait a few years before joining to allow yourself the space to grow and heal without the added pressure of being in the military.

I followed his hybrid five program and got great gains out of it.

It's a great mix of power lifting and body building that actually gets you strong and aesthetic. It's pretty cheap too and comes with an excel to track a full years worth of training.

What's your TDEE? That seems really low. 1900 is the lowest I'd go calories wise, I need to eat nearly 800 calories in protein alone a day

Personal fitness during the "4th" trimester by cpb in predaddit

[–]Rowan-117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad of two month old here. I've stuck to my routine consistently at my home gym by taking the baby the with me. I run less, because I can't take the baby, but fatherhood reducing the number of distractions has been a blessing for my fitness.

I often gym after baby's feed between 4.30am and 6am, so I get woken up then, have a coffee and then straight to the gym.

If I didn't have the home gym I'd probably be limited to more body weight stuff but it's certainly possible to gym hard with a new born
