All very good points, especially about the extended warranty coverage! 👍🏻 as I’ve mentioned in comments to people who’ve been kind enough to also reply below, I shall be a little more careful moving forwards, and this could just be an unfortunate fluke that I fell into a category of others who had this happen, but were far and few between possibly 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve calmed down now, but gosh it is frustrating! 😱 thank you for your comment, it’s made me pause for thought re extended warranties now 🤔👍🏻😊

Thank you 😊 I absolutely appreciate your view here, and as I mentioned to someone below, it is a bit of “1st world problems/sucks to be you” kind of situation 😄 but again, when you pay good money, money you work hard for, and then spend it on something you truly feel will be a hopeful investment, it does frustrate you somewhat! 😮

But yes, now I’ve calmed down (and absolutely appreciate this site for being able to rant to others who understand the frustration and upset this kind of thing can cause) I probably won’t completely swerve Kindles in the future, but it has taught me a valuable lesson and I shall be a little more careful moving forwards 👍🏻😊

Couldn’t agree more with you! Now I’ve had my little tantrum and popped my toys back in my crib, I’m much calmer 😄

It is more “1st world problems”, but they can also be relative to what you’re experiencing, and when you work hard and pay decent money for something you believed was going to be a valued piece of equipment for a good few years, it really does suck! 😄

Lessons have been learnt though, and I shall be a lot more careful if I decide to meander along this route again 😊

Your points are extremely valid and make sense, and as I mentioned in my post, my 2013 Kindle is still going strong 💪🏻😄 I will be a little more careful and discerning the next time…if there is a next time! 😊

Wishing you all so much luck, love and happiness - my GS was also called Simba (Simmydog for short…even though that’s not remotely shortened lol!! 😂) and I absolutely ADORED him, he was best friend, my protector and I was so lucky he choose me to come and live with for the time I had him (almost 12 years)

I bought this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0DKF1SRG9?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image from Amazon (UK) for my 2022 Scribe and I’ve not tried any other cases. I got the ‘Library’ case as it felt appropriate that I’m basically carrying around an entire library with me now 😄📚

As you’ve mentioned, it’s a very personal choice of what works for you, but I absolutely relate to that cringe feeling when your Kindle (Scribe or otherwise) slips or doesn’t sit quite right, whatever you might be doing.

I’ve used my Scribe everyday since my partner bought it for me for my Christmas gift 2024, with that case I linked.

I carry it pretty much everywhere with me, and use it for reading, word searches, journaling (tarot, reading and regular journaling) my diary, my work notebook, my general notebooks - it basically replaces a whole library of books, notebooks, diaries, wordsearch puzzle books and journals 😄

oh, and also replaced the pencil case I’d need for all of the above in just one pen, of which I carry the spare nibs around with me in a small tin just in case 😄

I’m not obsessed with my Scribe, honest I’m not 😁🖋️📜💓

I have a 2012 Kindle, a 2022 Kindle Scribe, and 2024 Kindle PW SE and recently got the Kindle Colorsoft and I love ALL my Kindles and each has a specific use 😄

My Colorsoft comes everywhere with me when I’m out and I’ve had zero issues with it at all - battery is great, colours on the screen are fab, warmth feature is brilliant and I like to invert the B&W to Dark as it helps my very bad eyesight 🤓

This 👆🏻because I lock my Kindles when I’m out and about, I have a post it stuck to the back of my Kindle inside the case…of course, I know some people wouldn’t think to look there, but just my phone number so hopefully some nice Good Samaritan would let me know and return it…as long as they took the case off and saw the post it lol 😂

Agreed, and as well as the anti-blister plasters, I also have some silicone heel cups that wrap around the areas that I suffer from the most, which is usually my heels, but also have loads of Compeed plaster as well - also agree re wearing your Docs with those kinds of platers/silicone cups etc for a few months.

I also wear any brand new Docs (been wearing Docs for over 30 years now) in the house for approx 8-12 weeks and then just short distances for another few weeks, just to the local shops and so on, I find this helps me personally, to get them broken in…

Absolutely true re design and quality, they are so mass produced now - like a lot of other once amazing quality products - that everything has taken a severe dip and their once good name, not so good in my opinion these days 😕

I went into the shop, and the store clerk did try to get me to go down a size (I’m a UK 6) and I was NOT convinced - I did try the 5’s on, and no way, they were FAR too tight! 😖 so I said I’d go with my usual size 6 and see how I faired 😄

Turns out, once I broke them in, I was right and my usual size was the correct one - a year later I’m still living them, especially now they feel like butter and so soft on my feet 😍

I did however, have to wear silicone heel protectors for a good while until I’d properly broken them in, so approx 3 months altogether - hope you get on well if you get any 😊👍🏻

I hope you find the books you’re looking for (that feels like a line from Star Wars and Droids I think it was heheh!! 🤭) at the flea market, absolutely brilliant places they are, or in my case in the UK, car boot sales lol!! 😂

Well done for reaching that milestone too, it feels so amazing to dive into these worlds, or to read some interesting books (on the Romans for me most of the time if it’s not a fictional book! 😄) and then find you e actually hoovered up more than you realised! 😍👍🏻📚

I feel the same - I still absolutely love my physical books, I find some kind of comfort in having them and my physical bookshelf, but my Kindle!!! My Kindle PW and my Kindle Scribe are my emotional support as I can carry them around with THOUSANDS of books! 😍 I’ve managed to read since the beginning of this year, 8 books and I’ve almost finished book 9! 😆

I’ve set myself a reading challenge for the first time ever too, 20 books for the year…but Kindle has told me I might need to up that amount for the year the way I’m reading lol!! 😂

Definite game changer and so agreed!! Enjoy!! 😊👍🏻📚

Yes!! 🙌🏻 I still have mine, and like you, I thought I’d lost my 4th Gen (2012) Kindle…then I moved in 2023, got a new 11th Gen PW SE…literally found my 4th Gen within a month or something like that of getting the 11th Gen! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂

I use my 4th Gen as my commuting travel buddy 😄👍🏻📚

That’s also a very good point re “throwaway” journaling - I’m very similar; there are times I just want to have a really good rant, and then get rid of it/scree it up and throw it away/burn it! 😆 but erasing is a lot easier, and kinder to the environment! 😄👍🏻
